Take it from a shift worker that is always affected by such replacements. For a whole week finishing at 12am, I would have had to catch a bus from North Melb to Essendon. Added more than an hour to what is otherwise a 20 minute trip. After the first night I took the tram.
He was never going to make it. Let's be honest.
I had higher hopes for Wonna tbh. A far more grounded kid that didn't have the weight of an entire community on his shoulders. He was a ripper of a kid as well.
I agree. Objectively we are playing as good as anyone has over the past decade. None of the Bulldogs, Tigers or even hawks in 2015 had as good and as strong a 5 week period as we've had. It's reminiscent of Geelong in 2007.
If we can stay relatively injury free and stay on a role, the flag is ours to lose on current form. We're at the halfway mark now. I could handle a loss to a West Coast in Perth or Adelaide in Adelaide if we cab bounce back and go on a run. Another loss will come. It won't matter imo.
I believe we were undefeated that year with Schwartz, Neitz, Lyon and Farmer all playing.
Throw in Smith, the young urgency of Yze and Robbo, two key rucks in Stynes and White, Tingay still playing good football when he was healthy.
No surprise we went on a run towards the end with a healthy lineup.
I love how much the goal umpires milked it, and how often the commentators would say, "I wonder what the goal umpire is going to do."
Hopefully our losses to Richmond and Hawthorn this year were our st kilda and Geelong loses in 1998, or our Carlton loss in 2000. Get them out of the way.
This is true but there wouldn't be much difference higher or lower than the top failed billed (if the failed bid for him is the highest offer).
The way North sees it, it is slowly but surely pricing competitors out of the market over a few years, and they will eventually land a big fish. If they play finals this year (and they will), that only helps their chances.
One of my favourite memories. I'd never seen us beat Carlton at Princes Park. Was sitting behind the goals.
Also Junior missed that goal. 100%. I remember my dad smacking the footy record on his leg because he missed. And everyone else thought he did.
Interesting the quote from Goodwin about it being "Worrying".
“Of course it’s worrying because you’ve got a player that’s in really good form that hasn’t trained."
Yet the Melbourne Twitter profile paraphrased in the worst possible way, and said:
