  1. A CEO is more likely to make a call on operational changes without a President, than a President would without a CEO. The CEO is literally overseeing the day to day operations of a club - and a President really shouldn't pull the trigger on something as major as a coaching change without the oversight of a CEO.
  2. Problem being atm that there is literally no one to hold any of the football department to account for these. Having a CEO in place ASAP is extremely important otherwise the review will have been pointless.
  3. The club uses AI to create most of its content. Anyone working in comms/PR can see/smell it a mile away. They used weird AI-generated video and voice-overs to promote the Gold Coast game on Facebook and Instagram as well. This is very poor. Me thinks they've cut some costs in that department. This is peak, "We're overworked so let's plug it all into ChatGPT". Which is common in the field and agencies these days.
  4. I think people are overreacting on the whole "Love" theme. Goodwin probably leaned into it too much publicly, not surprising given the guy's lack of nuance and substance when speaking with the media. Some comms training there was needed. But the "love" component I always interpreted as being to "love" what you do and by default to do that, you need to appreciate and understand the purpose and roles of those around it. It is a holistic approach. It does take time, clearly it was identified that a lot of the energy and communication amongst the team was lacking. I also doubt that the KPI for these guys was "wins". Probably more so how players are actually responding to these themes individually. Those in the corporate world would know of this as "engagement" ratings. There is a clear correlation between engagement and performance. If you're not engaged positively with your environment then you're not going to perform and certainly not excel. I imagine quite a few in the playing group didn't hold the club in positive light after the Oliver and Petracca fiascos. And clearly Pert and Roffey leaving was a symptom of poor player engagement in the club. There is a lot still do it. You just know that Goodwin's "Don't panic but be urgent" comment in the press conference came from a playbook from these guys.
  5. This could get ugly similar to the North game. Essendon can score quickly. They suck defensively but that doesn't matter against us. They scored 100 points in a 10 goal loss. Very concerned about this, more so than I was against Geelong and even Gold Coast.
  6. Anyone saying Simpson or Longmire are done as coaches should look at Hardwick. He might net GC a flag before GWS wins one.
  7. Geelong were average and in second gear They should have beaten Brisbane last week The conditions there were brutal. They overran us despite that. Tonight was way worse than it looks.
  8. You find a way. Richmond dominated for two seasons before Lynch arrived with Riewoldt as their tallest forward.
  9. It is absolutely pathetic what has transpired at Melbourne over the past 18 months. 77% of its flag winning squad played tonight. That's 14 on the day and 17 who played at some point during finals. They have zero forward craft, zero midfield craft, and if you take one of May or Lever out of the backline, it completely breaks down. I am just absolutely gobsmacked. To get run over by a team on a 6 day break from playing in 100% humidity and 30 degree weather is completely unacceptable.
  10. The most concerning thing about this is that Geelong is actually quite average and a 40 year old has managed 3 goals and probably should have 5.
  11. Dangerfield. Seriously?
  12. Fritsch, Pickett and Melksham were massive in the third.
  13. They'll start getting on top now.
  14. Trac has a paddock behind him and rides the tackle into traffic....
  15. Jinx! You owe me a coke.
  16. He needs to start clunking them. He looks like Dawes.
  17. Carlton reminds me a lot of Melbourne. Just in no man's land. No gameplan outside of "win the stoppage but if you don't then I dunno just like tackle or something". As soon as they start losing stoppages the avalanche starts.
  18. We'll end up in Heathcote.
  19. Houston gone for 3 weeks.
  20. Cerra and Saad inside 50s put Viney to shame. "Woof" alright.
  21. Read my post again. Having injuries during COVID seasons was the worst time to be hit. And I've never personally said our injuries at the moment aren't a reasonable excuse for our struggles.
  22. The Eagles were hit hard by injuries during COVID which was the worst time because every club's football department were gutted to cut costs, at the AFL's demand. We were the exact opposite and won the flag. They never recovered. Their biggest mistake was not having a first round pick for years on end... hardly Simpson's fault. He coached them to two Grand Finals including a flag against the Pies at the 'G in one of the all time greats. They were flying for pretty much all of the 2010s. He and his team squandered post COVID, sure, but it was timing more than anything that hurt them.
  23. Thinking of all the players currently well down on form: Petracca Viney Oliver Rivers Petty Lever Fritsch Salem JVR Gawn That is literally our spine. And mostly mid to late 20s. All of those players would walk into the top 22 at any club in the top 8 and probably top 4. If we can't compete for a top 8 spot with this playing group then you absolutely need to start looking at the coaching group. It's rare that a playing group doesn't "love" their coach.
  24. We won't lose all three. We've also clearly drafted for life after them.
  25. I don't disagree. What a sad predicament, really.
