  1. A bad loss to the Opals first up to Belgium 85-70. Only scored 29 points in the 2nd half and were outscored in the last quarter 29-13. Belgium are a decent team, but there were a few things I saw that drew me some concern as to how far they can go. I think they'll still make quarter finals at the least, but they would be aiming much higher I have no doubt. Meanwhile the Matildas managed a 0-0 draw with USA, which should be enough to get them into the Quarter Finals, pending some other results to come.
  2. Not wrong Macca. It would be harsh to say she choked, but I will say after having watched all of hers runs that the pressure certainly got to her. She'd been so dominant, so really feel for her. But the good thing about sport is that you get a chance to amend, and as you say Macca, I have no doubt she'll be going he'll for leather come Thursday.
  3. Poor Jess Fox has just missed out on gold by tapping the final gate on the Canoe Slalom which has given her a 2nd 2 second penalty dropping her from gold to bronze. Well done on winning another bronze medal though!
  4. By way of an update for all, I can confirm that the mens Rugby 7's team have made the Quarter Finals and their match tonight is againstthe defending Olympic Champions Fiji at 8pm tonight.
  5. A great performance from Owen Wright to claim bronze today! Come back from a brain injury and is now an Olympic medalist!
  6. Owen Wright has narrowly lost his Semi Final, but will surf for bronze later on today.
  7. In some other positive morning news, the Kookubarras have beaten defending Olympic Champions Argentina 5-2 to continue their unbeaten run and are looking very good! Our Rugby team have had a tough loss to New Zealand 14-12, but the two tight losses to go with a big win should be enough to get them through to the Quarter Finals. We'll just have to wait to see who they draw?
  8. Gold for Australia! Well done Kaylee McKeown on an Olympic record!
  9. To kick day 4 off with some good news, Aussie surfer Owen Wright has won his way through to the Semi Finals later on today!
  10. Well for the first time in Olympic history, we're not going to medal in the softball. Beaten 4-1 by Mexico. Our inability to convert runners on base to runs is what's hurt us this Olympics.
  11. Some good results tonight. Titmus & Madi Wilsoncomfortablyinto tomorrow morning's 200m Freestyle semi finals, our womens water polo team come from behind for an impressive win over Netherlands and Ash Barty/Storm Sanders win their way through to the Quarter Finals of the doubles in tennis. Let's hope these good results continue with our Softballers on tonight.
  12. Sam Stosur & Perez have won their way through to the doubles quarter finals in the tennis. Fingers crossed they'll be joined there by Barty and Sanders.
  13. Australia get a comfortable 42-5 win over South Korea in the Rugby 7's to get their campaign back on track. Plus I'm mistaken that they need to beat NZ to advance to the Quarter Finals. I thought it was 4 groups of 4 with the top 2 progressing like in the soccer, but in fact it's 3 groups of 4 with the top two plus the two best 3rd place teams advancing. So keep it close against NZ tomorrow or win and a quarter final place should be on.
  14. Alija Tomiljanovic has suffered the same fate as John Millman losing a tough 3 set match to the Number 4 seed from Ukraine. A pretty good effort though. Ash Barty & Storm Sanders should have their 2nd round doubled match shortly.
  15. John Millman has been knocked out of the tennis in the 2nd round, losing an entertaining 3 set match to World number 35, Davidovich. Our mens Beach Volleyball team also had a loss today to the Russians, not playing anywhere near as well as they did the other night. They'll need to win their next match if they want to get through to the Round of 16.
  16. Hockeyroos have just thumped China 6-0! Both our hockey teams are going to be worth keeping an eye on it seems.
  17. Amazing final relay leg from Kyle Chalmers in the 4x100m freestyle relay to grab us another bronze medal, mm away from a silver. Looking in good stead for the mens 100m final.
  18. Can confirm that Sally Fitzgibbons is through to the Quarter Finals in surfing. No such luck for Steph Gilmore however.
  19. Gold to Titmus. What a swim! Our first individual gold of the games and she's beaten an all time legend to do it!
  20. In a shock of the Ash Barty type. Our mens Rugby 7's team has lost their opening match to Argentina 29-19. This puts them in serious danger of missing the Quarter Finals. They have South Korea again later today who they should beat comfortably, however they'll need to beat New Zealand tomorrow to be any chance of progressing.
  21. Congratulations to Emma McKeon on a fine swim to claim bronze in the 100m Butterfly, was not far off at all swimming a new PB. Yesterday we got a medal of every color in the pool. Here's hoping we'll do the same today.
  22. Well to finish off my night tonight, the USA mens basketball teams sketchy form has continued with a first up 83-76 loss to France. It seems the basketball is wide open this year!
  23. Got what we needed out of the swimming heats tonight. We go into tomorrow morning with two genuine gold medal chances in Emma McKeon in the 100m fly and Titmus in the 400m free. Plus our mens 4x100m Freestyle relay team, who may be unlikely for gold, but are certainly a medal contender. Meanwhile the Kookubarras demolished India 7-1. Didn't get to see any of it, but that's a significant win as India are a very talented hockey team.
  24. Nice win by the Boomers first up against Nigeria with an 84-65 victory. A bit sloppy in their offence at times, but their defense is first class and will go a long way to a potential medal.
  25. Our mens water polo team just got beat 15-10 by Montenegro. Were up 7-6 at half time, so the 2nd half was a bit of a white wash. Not sure how much was Montenegro being really good or the Sharks defense getting really loose?
