Tom McDonald - How long do we wait?

Has been completely shot for a while. No athleticism at all. Can only run in a straight line. One more week before Brown and weids take over.

		Kennett's Letter to Hawks Members

Problem is most of Hawthorn's (aka the "family club") revenue comes from operating gaming in the City of Melton shire where pokies losses are historically at their highest.

		Kennett's Letter to Hawks Members

I agree with this. We just need to put space between us and the Saints, Kangaroos and Bulldogs. I think we have got a fair bit right off field. Divesting assets (Leighoak and Bentleigh gaming) and investing into football is 100% the right move, but if we can't deliver our 4 year strategic plan (albeit a COVID-19 modified version) we only have ourselves to blame. https://resources.melbournefc.com.au/aflc-melb/document/2020/02/17/c3ff8ef1-5953-4576-adca-d6e5ead3d156/MFC_Strategic-Plan_Web.pdf Can anyone put their finger on what it really means to be a sporting section of the MCC? Besides acknowledgments in both organisations reports it is not obvious. Is it just ceremonial or is there a genuine opportunity to financially merge? This would be the obvious way to put space between us and the other smaller clubs.

		Great coaching from Goody

That would be great! We have the mental edge after 5 wins in a row...

		Great coaching from Goody

A lot of us have been too negative about the weekend. We were not the only team to go missing for a large patch of the game. Good start - tick Petracca in the middle - tick Using Tomlinson and Langdon effectively - tick Winning when we probably didn't deserve to (like good teams do) - tick

		The Breaking of Nathan Jones

Sorry that just simply isnt true. His marking has never been a feature. And even if he did make a decent small forward we need quality small forwards or need to develop them quickly. Cant cop jones being picked ahead of Pickett for example.

		The Breaking of Nathan Jones

So by that logic jones along with all his teammates all those years arn't responsible for teams performance? They were all just unlucky? Oh, but your the guy that knows about high performance.

		The Breaking of Nathan Jones

The MFC and AFL communities are soft on jones because he is perceived to be "unlucky" to have ended up at melbourne. People forget he has been extremely well paid, probably overs, for many years. Captained a club without a lot of leadership. He was never asked and still doesn't work defensively and for years only worried about his own game. Don't get me wrong, i like jones a lot and wish him well this year but if we are going to be successful we need to lift the standards we demand and that includes jones. He performs he plays. He repeats 2019 he plays it out at casey.

		Best 22? / Next 22??

When picking a team we seem to aim for 7 defenders and 7 forwards (3 tall, 4 medium/small). Obviously Gawn plays and I reckon the right mix of midfielders would be 4 inside, 3 outside. On that basis... Best 22 (assuming no injuries whatsoever) Defenders: May, Lever, O.McDonald, Hibberd, Jetta, Salem, Kolodashnij Midfielders: Gawn (r), Viney, Harmes, Brayshaw, Oliver, Bennell, Tomlinson, Langdon Forwards: T.McDonald, Weideman, Petty, Melksham, Petracca, Fritsch, Pickett
 - TRAINING: Monday 4th November 2019

THE MYSTERY OF DRAFT PICK 3?

We should trade pick 22 and our 2020 first rounder for Langdon and pick 6 which Fremantle get from St Kilda. Then we take 2 of Young, Serong, Weightman, Flanders and Ash...

		Billy Stretch

No issues but i do think billy's development was hampered by our obsession with playing too many inside mids. We saw jones and tyson battling on the wings at times when a fit billy was in the twos. Like max said, our contested dominance in 2018 covered over the many cracks that were appearing elsewhere. We ignored the role of the wing and it has backfired massively. Hindsight yes, but astute people realised that 6-6-6 would elevate the role of the wing. Astute we were not. Now a wingman that had all the potential in the world (stretch was an under 18 all Australian) makes way so we can pursue another wingman who has been developed.

		Clarkson assistant coaches record

We wanted Dew. He would have effectively been a Clarko apprentice due to playing in 2008.

		Farewell Sam Frost

Why would Frost need to tour Hawthorn's facilities? Wouldn't they just say "we have them and your club doesn't".

Demons Grand Plan for Yarra Park Training HQ

Maybe this has gone nowhere given the state election result? Hopefully we have at least spoken to the relevant stakeholders. I see that the racecourse itself is being redeveloped but not sure if that includes the public land in the middle.

Demons Grand Plan for Yarra Park Training HQ

Interesting. Trying to build stuff in public parks is our go!

Demons Grand Plan for Yarra Park Training HQ

Maybe too realistic and practical? Better to hold out hope of being allowed to move back to the 'G...

Demons Grand Plan for Yarra Park Training HQ

Agree it looks like Gosch's... Has anyone ever mentioned Caulfield Racecourse as a possibility? In our "heartland", half way between the 'G and Casey and stacks of land in the middle of the racecourse to build a carpark, elite facilities and an MCG sized oval. Could serve as another base for MCC sides, and we know the Melbourne Racing Club is based there..."Team Melbourne" mark II?

		Trade Jack Viney Thread

Head of player personnel? I think recruiting and list management come under him? I always thought it was totally inappropriate to have Todd in a position to influence football department discussions about his own son. Should have left when Jack was drafted to clear the path and eliminate any conflicts of interest... I remember Donald McDonald left North Melbourne when Luke was drafted...

		2019 Contracts and List Details

I think up to 4 senior player spots are available as we only had 39 senior players in 2019. I think you can have 38 - 40 seniors + 6 - 4 cat a rookies (44 total before cat b rookies, which you can have up to 3 meaning lists max out at 47).

Which MFC player have you met personally?

Got to meet the Ox at the races. He was part of a buck's party so wasn't in brilliant form. He did say that Paul Prymke was the best CHB he played with. Not sure if that was true or just the beer talking?!
