  1. Bored at work today which lead me to look up various things on Wikipedia including the Melbourne Football Club. The website provides quite a good history of our club. Couldn't help but laugh at the 2007 section though: 2007 is shaping up as a poor season for the Demons, with Melbourne losing its first four matches. It has been widely tipped that Daniher's contract will not be renewed at the end of the season. The Demons have suffered numerous injuries and their fate appears to rest with highly skilled players like Nathan Carroll (the outstanding fullback of the competition), Daniel Ward (who is known for his pin-point accuracy in passing the ball by foot), perpetual Brownlow medal contender, Nathan D. Brown (one of the fastest players in the competition), the "Coleman-esque" goal-scoring sensation, Lynden Dunn, and Mark Jamar, the tap-ruckman extraordinaire (who recorded an unbelievable ONE whole hit-out in Melbourne's round 6, 2007 match against the Sydney Swans). At least they got the Daniher contract part right. Is anyone at Demonland responsible for the section? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melbourne_Foo...Partial_revival
  2. RR, Both have done the job in the past. I'm not saying they are great players. I'm just saying they haven't been given an oppurtunity in recent times which i believe they deserve. The point i'm trying to get accross is ND will be given the rest of the year to prove himself. I believe that oppurtunity should be afforded to a few players on our list. By the way, i'm not talking all of them. Brown, Godfrey, Holland, Ward, Wheatley, White and Yze in my opinion have always been given oppurtunities throughout their careers. Bizzell and Ferguson have not been afforded the same oppurtunities. Our defence is thin, but ND will prefer to give the blokes listed above another shot rather than Biz or Ferg a decent shot. Am I getting my point accross? I probably haven't explained it well.
  3. Jaded i'd agree totally if he was coming back from a soft tissue. Instead he is coming back from a broken foot. It is either fixed or not. If fixed he plays seniors, might be down on fitness but his body should be fresh.
  4. Mid Rocks, do you know how many members from last year have not re-signed. Attracting new members is all well and good but they must also be retained. 27,000 sounds great but!
  5. The article presents a point of view that us as frustrated fans tend to miss. It has convinced me the Daniher needs the rest of the season to prove himself. I've said it a few times here but if the board waits till the end of the year the decision will be obvious. The article did make a point about Daniher having to use 34 players. It did not mention the players dropped due to form. I refer in particular to Bizzell and Ferguson. Both were dropped after one game. Does Daniher expect them to walk into the side and dominate straight away. These two blokes need a chance to prove themselves. I don't intend this to raise arguements about whever these two blokes are good enough. My point is that Daniher is going to be given the chance to prove himself, that is what the rest of this season is about. I believe he should be affording the same oppurtunity to players on our list. Namely Bizzell and Ferguson. It is one of those full circle things, if they repay the faith, they will be in turn helping Daniher keep his job!
  6. It is not as simple as saying we won't win a premiership with TJ. He is just one player. Teams win premierships! Look at the WCE last year. Armstrong, Butler, Brett & Rohan Jones were all in that side. How many of those players would get a game before TJ at Melb? The point is there is no individual capable of preventing us from winning a premiership. Melb needs to make some serious efforts to improve all aspects of the team. When the team regains form TJ will be there playing that all important classy midfielder role.
  7. Will Frawley debut before a run at Sandy?
  8. In hindsight Waters, Hudson or Rischitelli would have been the way to go.
  9. If we wait until the end of the year the decision will be obvious. If the season finished today it would have to be a no.
  10. I believe in 1998, 2000 and 2002 we played a game plan that suited the team and it worked. It has only been the last few years that we have been neither here nor there as far as our game plan is concerned. I think ND, due to pressure, has maybe followed trends more recently at a cost to the team.
  11. I am also diasppointed with the lack of leadership. Bruce and McDoanld were the two from the leadership group playing and we all pretty much agree they're the least influencial leaders as opposed to Green, McLean and of course Neitz. I agree Rivers should be considered for the group next year. He has always conducted himself beyond his years. By the way, Adem Yze is the most senior player in our team at the moment. That pretty much sums up how we're going.
  12. At least one of Bizzell, Ferguson, Holland or Warnock must come in this week. Port Adelaide have three key forwards in Thurstans, Tredrea and White. Who do you suggest plays on them? Warnock gets my vote. He seems solid for Sandy, being a defender solid is good enough.
  13. To be honest Pickett probably doesn't deserve his spot next week. Maybe Newton could come in for him.
  14. I think the fourth in should be Warnock (unless Ferguson performs better for Sandy) to play on Thurstans. Agree with the other changes. B: Bizzell, Carroll, Warnock HB: Bell, Rivers, Petterd C: Johnstone, Bruce, Green HF: Dunn, Miller, Pickett F: Davey, Neitz, Yze FOLL: White, McDonald, Moloney I/C: Godfrey, C Johnson, P Johnson, Sylvia Defence: Carroll - Tredrea Petterd - Motlop Rivers - White Warnock - Thurstans P Johnson - Lade when resting Midfield: Bruce - P Burgyone Godfrey - S Burgoyne McDonald - K Cornes If Miller starts forward there is a good chance C Corns will pick him up. If we play one KPP in the forward line short like against Sydney we will effectively unleash C Cornes into the midfield. And that can't be good for us...
  15. Where is the bloke that looked after S____ W_______'s conditioning in 2000? Get him down the club.
  16. Agree RR. In fact, despite the fact everyone here was calling for it, i think the decision to play Garland was a poor one. He hasn't shown the form Petterd has at Sandy. It was obvious in one instance ND got it 100% right and in the other he got it 100% wrong. I would have had Buckley next in the pecking order. I think he may have been able to break a couple of lines tonight.
  17. Totally agree 59. I wrote it on the Petterd post. So many of our players lack awareness around the contest. How do you explain it? How is it fixed? We look stupid around the ball, almost like we are not sure what to do. And then when we get it we don't seem to evaluate what is around us. Chris Johnson when tackled by in our backline was the perfect example of this.
  18. The best part about Petterd is the awareness he showed of what was around him. He got rid of it quick when he had too, he took his time and steadied when he had the chance, not too mention how well he read it. Speaking of awareness, Matthew Bate and Chris Johnson have none! I know they are young but lack of footy nous is a serious concern.
  19. Its true. Green is out! But Johnstone, Moloney and Rivers in as well as CJ and get ready... GARLAND and PETTERD!
  20. Your an idiot. Nobody deserves to loose their career like that. No matter what you think of them. To say he deserves it is pathetic.
  21. Petterd is from Queensland. I don't think him playing his first game in Sydney really matters. He must play this week. I agree Buckley is unlikely but I'm so frustrated that every team has played debutants this year except us!
