The seizure report interests me. There are any number of possible causes besides epilepsy. It's possible to bring them on through high stress levels which can be associated with a number of psychological issues, or just being stressed. Then there are physical causes, blood sugar, illness etc. I do wonder exactly what brought it on for him.

Tyson is another one they put in the rack to get fit for next year. Nothing to see here. He'll be back and firing in round 1.

All Australian 2015 - no Demons in squad
RalphiusMaximus replied to Chris's topic in Melbourne Demons
Vince is a bit stiff. Patrick Cripps also I would have thought. -
Having just watched the game again, I can safely say that the Grimes Bashers have absolutely no F***ing idea what they're talking about. He dropped a mark and cost us a goal. That's his one big mistake from that game. Quite a few of the more popular players also cost us goals doing stupid things, but they don't rate a mention apparently. As for turnovers, you can't blame him when he gets a hospital pass and manages to get the ball away legally in the half second before he's hit. That's on the person passing to him (yes Nate Jones, I'm talking about you). That may count as a disposal error, but the reality is that it's someone elses mistake that's being added to his tally. The reality is that he's simply the latest whipping boy for the usual suspects who need someone to rag on.

Is it seven or eight years left on that contract?

Hype about the Saints - is it justified?
RalphiusMaximus replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Honestly, I think they are over-hyped. They are still heavily reliant on the same few senior players and while their young guys played well this year I don't know how good they'll be in the long term once you take away the senior group. -
Loved @uberageorgiou. Pity the account isn't active any more.

Agree with some. Disagree o others. Specific points: Grimes - He has often shown on-field leadership. I think people get too wrapped up in his odd bad kick and forget the times when he stands up which are at least as important as the turnovers. Kent - Looked like an absolute star until he did that hammy. Don't forget that he did it chasing down three opponents on the wing and managed to hold them up. Brayshaw - His kicking is fine. All in all I think we have a couple of very good senior leaders in Vince and Jones and a raft of young talent who look good but need to step up and start putting together 20-30 disposal games instead of 10-15. Hopefully with another pre-season to improve their strength and fitness we'll see that start to happen. I think there's still a bit of a gap in the 25-30 age bracket for us. It would be great if we could bring in a player or two in that range who were good enough to be automatic selections and just add to the depth and leadership in the list. No more Collingwood rejects though, they're never as good as they look in the box.

Just for a little injection of reality here. Grimes had 3 clangers. White had 2. That still gives Grimes the better result by a fair margin. Ignoring your bias, Grimes has repeatedly stood up when needed this year and is a far better defender than any of you give him credit for. White has the potential to go past him, but he's nowhere near it yet.

I want our first round pick. I'd give it up for Treloar or Dangermouse, but nobody else on offer right now is really floating my boat.
-
I would remind you of a superior talent who repeatedly kicked bags of goals, did things most wouldn't dream of and tantlised enough for most to ignore his off-field issues and questionable work ethic until he walked out on the club, went home and got arrested for attacking someone with a machete. Bottom line, we don't want a guy who brings this much baggage and a high probability of winding up in jail.

Several years ago Richmond embarked on a program to improve the field kicking of their side after they identified low hard passes as a key feature of the top sides. We saw very notable improvement in their fringe players a they adjusted to the new method of kicking. It didn't take them the length of a player's career, or even half. It took a couple of years to see a drastic improvement across the board. There is absolutely no reason we can't do the same thing.
-
So we want a guy who can play but is a serious jail risk? I'd give them a third round pick for him. He comes with a hell of a lot of baggage.
-
Why give away next year's first round pick instead of this year's? This year is a weak draft, we should be hoarding picks for next year instead. Also, while I like Atley, I wouldn't want to give a first round pick for him. It's not like he's an automatic selection for them.

It's a FB rumour started by a girl nobody actually knows, but who has the same surname on her account as a "well known supporter" of the dees. In other words it's crap. The Robinson Crusoe quote was in the HS today as well, but I don't subscribe so no link. Basically, what we can take from this is the following: 1 - Don't listen to FB rumours started by random people you don't know. 2 - Watts was dropped for failing to meet team benchmarks and had we had more depth others would have been left out as well. 3 - IF another club offers us a great deal we may still trade him.

Pass the bill on to the players who didn't bother showing up for a month.
-
It's just you. I think Viney will hold that place.

Meh. I give this no more credit than any other unsubstantiated rumour. I don't believe that high-ranking club officials would be chatting about something like this in public, especially not in a crowded room where they could easily be overheard, nor do I believe that they would tell the daughter of a "well known supporter" whatever that means. I do fully accept that it fits in with the anti-Watts bias many posters have and as such they will run with it as gospel. Such is life, but I don't buy it.

Stats for Free's this year. We're ninth for frees for and eighth for frees against. Note the Eagles: Least frees against, 5th in frees for. Geez they get a nice ride.

I have Michie at the top of the list of NQR Imports. The only issue is his inability to score, but he does get a lot of assists so that's not a huge issue.

That is a truly wonderful turn of phrase. I'm impressed.
