The validity of his statement isn't the point. The point is that you are able to judge the quote's worth because I have given you a source. The fact that you are telling me the guy's opinion is worthless validates my point that if you are going to throw out quotes from anywhere, you need to provide a citation so that others can judge the validity of that quote, as you have done with this one.

Which one?

As I said above, I wouldn't know this guy from a block of cheese, but at least I provided a source.

I wouldn't know that guy from a block of Gorgonzola, but my point was that at least I provided a source so that people could make some sort of assessment of the post, rather than "some girl on a supporter page said..." which gives us absolutely nothing to judge it by. I could equally have provided quotes saying he has been kicked out of the club, walked out on the club or was simply dropped for poor form.

I'll go one better From the Melbourne Football Club FB Page in the final team announcement comments: See? It's all a storm in a teacup. It was even reported on SEN.

An unattributed comment with no source supplied has absolutely no value in a debate. We have no way to verify that this alleged post even exists, much less assess for ourselves the authority of the poster. Which facebook page did this alleged post appear on? Who posted it? For all any of us know he's written it himself to stir the pot.

When will Melbourne break these embarrassing records?
RalphiusMaximus replied to praha's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm kind of thrilled with this record. It's the fans telling the AFL in no uncertain terms what they think of being given such a rubbish time against a rubbish team at the wrong stadium. If they want us to turn up they can let us play our home games at our home ground at a decent time. Playing the Spice Girls less would help as well. -
You know they don't count them unless it's a successful tackle right? If you grab a guy and he still gets a kick or hand pass, that's not tackle. The only explanation? Really? You can't think of any other possible reason?

It should be interesting. We know who 1 and 2 are. The next group would be Parish, Balic, Francis with Curnow probably coming into the mix late as well. Not sure who else. We'd be pretty happy with any of that group I think. They're all solid players with good skills.
-
So, pick 6. Pretty much no chance that Parish will still be there. Curnow is looking more and more likely.

The Cats Game hands down. The only thing that could have been better would have been beating North at Etihad.

The Keith "Bluey" Truscott Memorial Trophy - 2015

He was clearly there incognito. Obviously if he'd let people know he was coming this could have been arranged.
-
He was both bigger and better than I expected. 16 disposals, 6 marks, 93% or thereabouts. That's one of the better debuts we've seen in the last few years.

Demonland Player of the Year - Round 23
RalphiusMaximus replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm having a hellishly hard time of it. We have four forwards who kicked multiple goals, the Big Three in the middle all deserve votes, Gawn was massive with 55 hitouts, TMac was dominant in defence but turned it over, Grimes was solid, Cross probably should get a mention, Mitch White was really solid for his 3/4, Stretch was composed and creative, Brayshaw was Brayshaw... It's really hard to pick out six to give votes to. -
He's signed up until the end of 2017. That's plenty for now. I'm sure if we come out firing next season he'll be happy to take on a longer term deal with us.
-
*Negativity Warning* Would have been nice to do it more than once each. */Negativity* What we need to see next year is our young guys to turn those 10-15 disposal games into 20-25 disposal games. Viney made that step in the first half of the season. If we can get ANB, JKH, Stretch, Harmes, Brayshaw and White to make the jump as well our midfield productivity will shoot through the roof and we'll see the team become really competitive with a spread out workload and real depth.

50% as it turns out. -
Great debut by Mitch White today. 16 disposals, 6 marks, 93.7%. He's quite a bit bigger than I thought as well. It's amazing how much better the team looks when they're given license to attack. We looked legitimately dangerous today. I think we may have quite a scary-looking team next year. If you factor in basic improvement in the youngsters, add guys like Petracca, Frost, Tyson and possibly Trengove to the mix and assume the removal of a couple of our worst butchers. There's some firepower beginning to make an appearance.
-
I think it's funny people complaining about the number of high picks Melbourne have had. We're actually only average. Carlton have had much more, including as of the upcoming draft, twice the number of #1 picks in the last decade.
-
Pick 4 isn't cursed, just our use of it.
-
Stevie J. Please no.
-
If we get thrashed tomorrow and the Bombers beat Collingwood we could drop to bottom four again. Only 2% in it. Then we have the dreaded pick #4 again and you know how well we've done with that in the past. I'm pretty sure the AFL commission have already said they won't give Brisbane a PP. As for Kreuzer, I don't think he rates band 1 compo. Maybe band 2. He hasn't exactly had a stellar career.
