Ed Morris goals. Past 50 points now. McInerny is 203cm. Rookie?
-
McInerny looks a pretty decent prospect.
-
Our defence has been really dominant, so almost every attack has bounced right back out. Our midfield looks a lot faster and they are running hard to support each other, so we get lots of uncontested handball receives. Smith and Kielty have been marking well up forward, although The Weed is getting smashed.

Willie resorting to thuggery to try getting back in. Just saw one of their forwards throw a punch into Dunn's ribs. Now Salem knocked out cold in a tackle and then hit late while he was down. Scummy play.
-
Dunn is having a big day out.
-
Oliver earns a shot on goal with a HTB call... Nails it.
-
Imagine if we'd kicked straight.
-
They won't have a pick available. Their first rounder will go for Prestia. He won't be there for their second.
-
There are a few really good indigenous boys in the draft this year. One of them kicked 5 for Richmond a few weeks ago.
-
23rd man can play. White looks like he could be done for the day.
-
Just saw a Willie player trying to rough up ANB on the ground. Oliver just picked him up and tossed him aside.
-
They have matching actions.

Worth a shot for a very late pick or DFA. He has ability and if we take our time and nurse him trough could still come good.

Trading back into Round One or Top 10?
RalphiusMaximus replied to PaulRB's topic in Melbourne Demons
If we really want more first round picks then trading Hogan is the way to do it. Get Freo to pony up their first round picks from this year and next year for him. Save ourselves the pain of a year spent wondering if he'll stay or go. Be seen as decisive and pro-active in getting rid of a player before he can mess with the club or hold it to ransom for a better deal. Not only would we be getting a good pick this year, but Freo have to be good odds to finish below us again next year (even with a new forward or two), so we get what will probably be a top ten pick in a strong draft there as well. I would also like it noted that I in no way prefer this option. Ideally Hogan announces tomorrow that he has signed a five year contract extension to stay with the Dees. However if we're talking trade hypotheticals, he's the player who will attract the best deal and we know that Freo would jump at the chance. -
Classic Max Gawn Quotes
RalphiusMaximus replied to Rodney (Balls) Grinter's topic in Melbourne Demons
Gawn and Dangerfield on the footy show tonight had a nice little chat. Gawn again talking up the armchair ride he's giving our mids and how underappreciated it is. Danger responds that obviously nobody appreciates how hard it is to tap a ball as opposed to actually catching it. This was all in the context of Gawn coming equal fourth in the PA MVP. Nice effort there Max.- 52 replies

Realistic Trade Week Results (Wish List)
RalphiusMaximus replied to GawnWithTheWind's topic in Melbourne Demons
I mentioned this scenario in another thread, but I say we ask much more for The Hulk. Two first round picks. Then try to muscle in on O'meara or Mitchel. -
Realistic Trade Week Results (Wish List)

We need pace and skill through the midfield and some decent ruck backup. I don't like the thought of picking up one of those 30+ guys. We're not in the window yet, so it would be pretty pointless. Witts or Vardy would be handy, probably Vardy given the Pies are terrible to trade with. Targeting one of the fleet of mids from the Doggies would also be helpful. I'd also take Zac Clark as a better ruck option than Spencer. -
I agree we can't fit another tall in our forward sttucture. There is an answer though that would let us bring in a legitimate forward/ruck. Given his refusal to discuss re-signing with the club, we have to consider Hogan to a flight risk. We pre-empt him and trade to Fremantle this year for their first round picks in 2016/17. Bring in Clark as a FA and trade a second round pick for someone like Vardy. Use the first round pick from Freo to try to muscle in on the O'Meara deal. As a result we have some almost acceptable ruck backup, we solve the ruck/forward problem and we have a shot at getting the type of mid we need, if not O'Meara then i'm sure there are others with pace and skill out there to target. Yes, I know we want to keep Jesse, but you have to admit that trading him now would give us maximum value for him and drastically improve our drafting and trading position.

I love the bit towards the end of that article. Collingwood were interested in both Hunt and JKH, and we grabbed them both

Melbourne v Bulldogs All-Stars Women's match
RalphiusMaximus replied to whers_jacka_now's topic in AFLW Melbourne Demons
Could be that they are being offered other roles at the club or with sponsors as an incentive. If the playing contract is only for 22 weeks then the AFL can't really claim salary cap breaches for anything that happens outside of that time. -
Cloak and dagger at Carlton

I suspect Gubby Allen is behind it. -
Griffin is looking to leave Fremantle. Is he an upgrade on Spencer? Could be a straight swap.

Melbourne v Bulldogs All-Stars Women's match

So, the AFL say that player payments will total $1.6 million. That's $200,000 per team, so while I haven't found it explicitly stated anywhere I'm working on that as being the salary cap. It's also been mentioned that sides may spend as little as $190,000 on player payments, indicating that they are required to use 95% of the cap. Marquee players are payed $25,000. That's been well-documented. Priority selections and high draft picks (first round? unspecified) will be in the $10,000 rung. We know that Brisbane already has one priority selection named at this stage, but I don't know if they have given us any guidelines for how and when a club can gain these selections. The list will consist of 25 players. So, at present we have as a minimum spend: 2 marquee players = $50,000 5 priority players = $50,000 18 regular players = $90,000 Or you could max your salary cap with: 2 Marquee players = $50,000 7 priority players = $70,000 16 regular players = $80,000 Sources: Fox HS SMH
