  1. Don't out yourself as a non-dinky di D'Lander
  2. I think you may be ignoring the fact that North chose to hold onto the ball for longer and chip it around. ie keepings off. They weren't able to maintain possession for long periods though but it did slow us down.
  3. a few years ago i remember Clarkson when the Hawks were 100 pts up sending a spare man behind the ball and I thought bad thoughts about him that he wanted to keep that 100 point margin. But I met a Hawks Board member who explained that Clarkson takes those opportunities to practice a 2 minute drill as if the game was within 1 kick In other words supporters care about the 100 pint margin or similar but clubs use these opportunities to experiment with set plays etc. Now I don't know if we did that - and if we did it was poor because NM kicked 3 goals - but maybe we found out what didnt work, or what we need to do to fix our set plays
  4. We are the home team against Richmond, Collingwood, Carlton this year. We will do OK at the gate.
  5. We are 7 and 0 for last quarters this year. Burgess meh.... :)
  6. Was great to see the team not take their foot off the pedal - bar the last 3 goals :( As good as the final margin was they worked hard defensively all night and even when Kozzie was streaming towards goal he checked himself and delivered a pin point perfect pass to a team mate in a better position. Could so easily have blazed away. For me that was particularly pleasing. I think the team were really focused tonight on team play and structure. Our defence has been patchy most of the season but this was a complete performance that cemented the game plan and was thoroughly disciplined by all. Now to Gold Coast and Hawthorn....
  7. Tracc Oliver Chandler ANB Lingers Viney Grundy
  8. What a complete bunfight this will be when 25000 turn up to park without pre-booked tickets. PLus the fact that Ticketek will completely stuff up every aspect of this.
  9. Yep, they pantsed us for a decade. Happy if we [censored] them
  10. Well, it's true that we have been searching for forward connection for a long time. We managed it in the finals of 21 but outside of that it is still a work in progress. And I am sure that Goody bangs on about it week in week out. So there that...
  11. AFL is the only sport in the word that I can think of where officials require a skill and have to run so far. They prep a lot Having said that I was shocked the AFL chose the worst possible umpires for a marquee game in prime time. Disgrace
  12. Ground ball is where teams like Coll, Syd, Ess try to beat us. If you kick high to our defence you will lose so the simple plan is to do what Rich did last night for 2 qtrs. Overlap h/ball, running and short kicks or dirty kicks to the Fwds. We need to get better at recognising when teams are trying that. And then combatting that tactic. North did it last year against us but most teams cant keep up the pressure for 4 qtrs.
  13. Highest rated quarter? JVR at 11.0. Next highest Dustin Martin 8.9 Well done JVR
  14. I feel certain that the rule on handpassing used to be a fist hitting the ball from a stationary hand. None of this hand and palm both moving in the same direction or over the head two-handed 'throws' or worse, the Adelaide/Western Bulldogs 'flick' pass. Does anyone remember seeing that written in the rules ? And if so when was it changed?
  15. Probably works just as well as the other one.
  16. It's illegal to knee players in a ruck contest pzzzpoor umpiring and match review.
  17. Grundy is clearly still finding fitness. He was out a long time. Exposed how we rely on max going back to help out the defence against tall fwds.
  18. True but we have had trouble in the past against really tall fwds. Mason Cox, Reid from Sydney, Draper and Philips, Hipwood, Sampson Ryan in the pre-season game and even Lobb on occasions..
  19. Probably up there with one of the worst comments on this forum Congrats
  20. When you play a team defence everyone looks bad when it breaks down. But nobody lost as many one on ones as Steven May. Love the guy but that was his worst game for the club Teams have also worked out how to decoy May and Lever. Sydney does it with Buddy running up the ground trying to expose Lever one on one where he isn't at his best. When we are playing at our best May is the goal keeper, Petty takes the high half fwd like Cameron and Lever is floating. Gus and Bowey and Hibberd tale the smlls/mid-size
  21. Grundy looked shattered at times. And twice when he ran into the fwd line he refused to hit up loose men and cost us goals. I get he was under pressure - particularly when his opponents were scoring - but he had a shocker.
  22. How Draper is not on report for jumping and kneeing TMac is beyond me.
  23. Because Port was playing later all the port fans snapped up the tickets and didn't turn up for the earlier game. A bad look
