  1. Just having a bit of fun :)
  2. Percentage doesn't matter in finals.
  3. Here's my take Players have been trained to pin the arms because players with the ball have become so good at lifting the arms or releasing the ball when they get tackled. However the players being tackled are adding to the problem because they are not releasing the ball immediately they are tackled. More often than not they make no attempt - particularly if one arm is pinned - as they are likely to give away a free for incorrect disposal. They hold the ball and are taken to ground OR as is now more common falling to ground in the hope of getting a free. How many times do we see a player with the ball do a 360deg turn? Tacklers are therefore holding on to the player with the ball to try and stop them releasing it. If umpires paid frees to the tackler more quickly WHEN a player with the ball makes no attempt to release it I suspect we would have less of these issues in the first place. I don't think this goes against the spirit of the game where a player going for the ball is 'rewarded' or protected.
  4. We have hit the bye with a great win in front of a finals like crowd We are 9 and 4 with a very healthy list - that's way more important in the grand scheme of things. Our defensive system is back to its best.
  5. So ***** annoying. What a joke. Yet Cox can smash Gawn in the head at a recalled ball up in the centre square and its no free/no report/play on And Maynard smacks Brayshaw in the head AFTER he has taken the mark. No 50m no report, no fine. Carry on. BS
  6. Or when ANB I think took a mark and Mihocek simply grabbed his collar and dragged him to the ground
  7. What about the centre bounce that was recalled? Cox just smashed Gawn in the head. No free ball up Took him a few moments to get up Or when he sunk his knees into Rivers on the ground. He's a dirtbag. And Gawn was constantly shepherded off the ball in the fwd line.
  8. Said this one would be worth revisiting. Thanks for the laughs :)
  9. We were very nervous in the first 15m. Hunter turned the ball over 4 times and Brayshaw coughed it up at least 3 Inferred pressure everywhere. We tidied up well though and dominated the rest of the game.
  10. Ch 7 showed him sitting in the box today
  11. Outstanding performance. Hit the post 4 times but our kicking for goal was [censored] Viney immense but the biggest surprise for me was Thommo. Fantastic game Fritsch's awareness of his teammate around him is terrible.
  12. jnrmac replied to Turner's topic in Melbourne Demons
All i know os that our club doesn't get involved in bidding wars for second rate players that come on to the market and tout prices of $800+k a year. How has that worked for Carlton? When we have a need we target a player and get them, Think Langdon and Hibberd. All for a good price. Our recruiting team is the nest in the business We do need to develop a gorilla defender though. Not sure we have on of them anywhere.
  13. Used to matter as they had to print the Footy Record. Doesn't matter anymore.
  14. When you play a team game throwing around the magnets takes away from the strategy. Players become confused about who goes where and who is minding who etc. It becomes self defeating. Better off using Grundy or Gawn to be the floater fwd or back to assist the defence or frwards To counter teams attacking frm their D50 Goody has used tactics like Petty on T McCartin and Thommo on McKay. Or ANB /Kozzie shadowing Saad. I fully expect JSMith to shadow Moore with Gawn/Grundy floating fwd. And I expect to see ANB or Kozie shadow the kick ins and follow up running from Daicos Our wings when we are attacking usually run fwd of the ball, particularly at centre bounce. We rarely have our wings coming in to the defensive side of the centre scrimmage. They like to keep their width and are often used as an exit if we are in trouble.
  15. If you think that you weren't watching the Carlton game closely enough.
  16. This is one post worth revisiting on Monday evening.
  17. Given Melb and Coll hold the record for the biggest ever H&A game ever if this one eclipses it we will have the two biggest ever H&A games.
  18. MIxed marriages never work
  19. Embarrassment? 2022 rd 13 they beat us after we had no May, lost, Petty & Turner during the game and Gawn went down with a foot and knee in the guts from Cox. We were 24 pts up 2021 we lost by 17pts 2020 we won by 56 pts. Hardly embarrassing
  20. Blakey was not concussed. He passed all the tests. They subbed him out because a a toe issue he took into the game. From the Horse's mouth
  21. That was my assessment too. We changed the way we set as a dress rehearsal for Monday. Will be a very tactical game but one I am increasingly confident of winning.
  22. You would be mad not to. There will be 90000 people there. The noise will be a major factor.
  23. Carlton are a highly ranked centre clearance side and we smashed their midfield. We'll be OK
  24. It's a blister. He'll be right,
  25. I presume he's on an IV to ensure that any infection is nuked well in time for the game.
