  1. All the clubs would be trawling lists where players aren't getting opportunities. I certainly hope we are looking in unexpected places for talent.
  2. That may well be the official capacity but there spare seats around us, the MCC members was not full and there is standing room which is not regulated so much I believe. Maybe their maximum allowable under fire regulations or such is that number and so they can't announce any more than that,
  3. On another matter anyone wondering how we had an identical number of people at the 2023 Grand Final as we did at the 2022 Grand Final? 100,024 people. Smells very fishy to me

I guess if he can play fwd that might solve some problems We did alright with Gawn and Jackson from memory .
  5. They won by 7 pts 1 pt and 4pts They had class at the end of the GF in SS and Pendlebury but loads of players who were ineffective or barely touched it all day. A few standout performances. Got to be a bit careful about drawing too many conclusions other than the fact they seem to be very good in tight games. By contrast our guys soiled the bed against Carlton when we could have and should have iced the clock. So much for leadership.

Max had to wait 8 years I recall....
  7. Would be hard to bring someone in on a big ticket when you have a team that has arguably performed pretty well. I could see it happening with a key fwd where most realise it is a desperate need. But it can easily upset the delicate balance of player salaries , expectations etc. Geelong have done a good job of managing it (and we know why...)
  8. I heard Mitch Clark was heading to Fremantle a few years back. Just sayin....
  9. True but we changed massively from 2018 and 2019 and learned. This year was perplexing for me. We played pre-season very aggressively through the corridor and cutting angles etc. Our first few rounds we were number one for accuracy as we played daring football and centered the ball into the corridor. We changed game plan distinctively in rd 12 and 13 against the Blues and the pies. I assumed we wanted to play a much more defensive game plan as we were likely to meet these two teams in September. That was around the time we played a very high press, defended by playing a boundary game and we scored a shocking number of points for 3 or 4 weeks in a row. So I fear Simon will say he only has to tweak a few minor things but the game has caught up to us and has figured us out. A game "built for finals" has failed in the last four. And our much-vaunted leaders utterly failed in the last 100 seconds against Carlton. We need to change quite a lot
  10. But but but we're told you can't change a game plan that quickly, or personnel You can add GWSs rise this year to proof that you can make radical changes if you take a chance ....(simon).... Unfortunately we will 100% be in the category where we say 'we're not far off, we doing 90% right, we just need a tweak here and a tweak there'. Simon will point to our record over 3 years and I get that its got merit but the big teams know how to beat us. We are way too predictable. The game will go past us.
  11. I tell you I cant stand Tom Mitchell World's biggest flopper and all time worst Brownlow winner. Could have been done for staging at least 8 times during 3 finals.
  12. Both teams kicked into their fwd line to team mates in better position Very little bombing in. Chip kicks inside or over the top. We stopped doing that and are selfish. Fritta and kozzie are the two worst. Spargo is probably the best at finding a team mate Until we learn to be smarter with our ball use i50 we're going nowhere
  13. Did I read Matt Flynn, the second ruck from GWS is talking to us? Would make sense...
  14. You don't need an elite ruck. We are blessed with Gawn but a competitor like Jamar or Nankervis or McInerny would suffice. Arguably our trying to fit others around our gawn game plan has cost us in the past couple of years.
  15. Particularly at a time when GC and GWS had pillaged all of the good talent
  16. Its a disgrace but what do you expect for the corrupt AFL
  17. Hird is a full time Fund Manager now.... https://www.eureeassetmanagement.com/our-team/
  18. I'd be disappointed if they told me anything of value!
  19. Saw Pert and Richo this week and they were heading off to a list meeting. They are all together at this time of year. Feeding all the intel back into a central place for discussion. There isn't much about other teams lists they wouldn't know about. Our guys are absolute pros
  20. The real gold is the trades where you pick up an Acres or similar for not much. I don't follow other teams that closely so not sure who would fit that bill but knowing JT they often target guys a few years out like Langdon or Lever and invest a lot of time in getting them to the Dees.
  21. Sounds like he would slot straight in at the Dees
  22. You mean they dont set fire to a dwarfs hair any more?
  23. We have apparently spoken to McQ. I assume they have also reached out to Dew. I reckon either would be good
  24. 8cm in height and 30kgs in weight are fairly substantial differences. Love the Juddster but he aint a replacement for May
  25. A small point but I think Tim Lamb heads the 'team' as the List Manager. JT is the head of Recruiting but iI believe its Lamb that carry's the can for the list as a whole.... While its collaborative it's Lamb that says 'we need a fast small fwd' and JT that finds one...
