  1. I have seen enough vision both on TV and with my own eyes where a player streaming out of the middle will ignore up to 3 easy hit up kicks to bomb it long to a pack. It is a recurring problem with our mids in particular being recidivists. Our fwds do have poor running pattern issues but its also possible they are sick of making leads and being ignored. I spoke with one of our past fwds who said this was a big problem at Melbourne. Maybe they are basking in their 2021 finals glory days. Or maybe they spent so long kicking to the right fwd pocket that they can't adjust. Either way I can't believe the coaching staff and players cant fix it.
  2. Speedy reply ! well done!
  3. Hmm so how about DON'T KEEP BOMBING THE BALL INTO THE 50m ZONE? 19 entries in the 3rd qtr for 2 goals Its the same problem we have had since Adam was a boy. It can't be that hard. Our coaching group are incapable of fixing it and our leaders are incapable of lowering their eyes. Viney the worst culprit but they are all the same - Oliver, Tracc, Gawn, Sparrow, Langdon they must be morons to keep doing it. It makes us unwatchable.
  4. didn't we win 15 in a row there at one point?
  5. Always someone who's good for a laugh
  6. Same as Carlton
  7. What experiment is that? Lulling oppo teams into a false sense of security by having him only collect 2 possessions in the first half of matches? He's perfected that part. Its the part about busting the second half apart and kicking 6 goals. Fritsch has been a liability for 2 seasons now. The Fritchophantics won't have a bad word said about him but he should be dropped.
  8. Agree that when you get a turn over you need to spread like hell. It relies on players understanding what their team mates will do. Sadly we are a great fail in that area Its what we practised all pre-season this year and last. Yet when the season proper comes we abandon it. Too scared and revert to playing safe boring predictable footy
  9. Agreed. Our lack of system doesn't help. A good system places less pressure on average kickers or handballers. Our players seem clueless as to how to create space.
  10. One of our big problems is where our players run to. I watched a few games on the weekend and it dawned on me that when we have the ball Melbourne players rarely get separation from their opponents. So we are constantly kicking to players under pressure or having to make flawless kicks or HBs to players that are immediately under pressure. Other teams appear to be able to get clean space and can hit kicks of 20m r more because they aren't under pressure and they dont have to pinpoint a pass. Watch Hawthorn. They are manic running to create space when they have the ball Our fwd line exemplifies this problem and we constantly bomb the ball to a contest because the fwd line get in each others way. The running patterns don't exist or they all seem to run to the same spot. Other teams seem to have all the space in the world in the fwd line. Its not rocket science that when we have the ball players should run in all directions to open up the field. When the field opens up a kicker can kick the ball into a space for a team mate to run on to it. Instead we have a stop and prop mentality that invites pressure. Our kick it to Max strategy went out with the arc. Memo Simon Goodwin: other teams have worked that out. Our run and spread is basically non-existent. Either because we aren't fit enough or we aren't coached to do it. John Kennedy the coach said there were only 3 phases of the game: you have the ball, your opponents have the ball or the ball is in dispute. We are ok when the ball is on dispute. We have focused on the other team having the ball but when we have it we are clueless It is coaching coaching coaching. And player selection integrity
  11. North are irrelevant
  12. We have the worst skills of any team in the AFL. kicking to a teamate, handballing to a running player (rather than his feet) and holding tackles appears to be beyond this group. Pressure was appalling We are embarrassing to watch. No wonder we play at 320pm on a Sunday I think we all thought these type of performances were a thing of the past. But for too long players putting in below par performances are gifted games. When you butcher selection integrity this is the result. Poor standards become habit.
  13. We're a crud team to watch No wonder ppl don't turn up and we get terrible time slots from ch 7 Is Sam Mitchell out of contract yet?
  14. Going to be great seeing the happy clappers gloss over this performance Disgusting and disgraceful are the two most apt words It can't be overstated how pathetic our football skills are Thanks for killing the team Simon
  15. What's happened to rivers?
  16. [censored] half of football Chin can stand tall. Not too many others Stoppage clearances 9 to 15 Max getting a pasting Trac hardly seen TMac back to the bad old days Lever having brain fades again Petty should be dropped on this performance And Fritsch watch Going with has average for the past 12months, 2 disposals to half time. In fairness he's been putting in a bit more but he just can't get near the pill
  17. Awareness today is awful
  18. Courageous goal from Fritsch Chandler and spargo playing well Max needs to lift
  19. Petty dragged to the ground and the [censored] derwayne screaming for a Larkey free [censored] its gonna be a long afternoon
  20. Let's hope fritch gets more than 2 possessions in the first half - probably his average first half contribution in the past 12 months
