I think there are some here (including those who are being accused of "not getting it") that are frustrated with the hypocrisy surrounding this stuff. Some interesting comments in the article attached from the woman who was the subject of the Dustin Martin chopsticks incident and the Nick Stevens incident. There is no doubt in my mind that the AFL have handled a lot of this stuff poorly. I guess they are telling him to try and switch play whenever possible. But as many have pointed out the execution was woeful on a wet day and put his brother under pressure without an obvious play on to open up the fat side of the ground

Not at all. Not sure how you can come to that conclusion. Caro is an AGE journalist. So is Clementine Ford. It's OK for the AGE to scream at Eddie for making jokes about violence against a woman. I would like the same standard to apply to the AGE and women in general when comments advocating violence against men are made.

It was really to point out the double standards. Violence against anyone is bad. Threatening violence is bad. Eddie should know better and in my view should be censured by the AFL. But let's not be selective about who cops it. Let's not excuse/ignore others just because they happen to be female.

Because it takes a while for the female contingent of the confected outrage group to gather their forces..... What they are saying is that its OK to joke about violence unless its about a female.. Let's face it Eddie, Frawley and Brayshaw are not people's favourites and what they said is stupid but its the womens lobby that has become outraged. I was responding to the poster that says he has a different run up every time unlike other footballers. I am not sure that is right. And on his kicking style, I couldn't care less if it goes through the big sticks, Jim Furyk has one of the most ridiculous golf swings ever (my favourite description of it is by David Feherty - it's like he is trying to kill a snake in a phone box.....) but he has just come 2nd in the US Open. What the swing looks like doesn't matter so long as it is repeatable. Ditto Hogan's kick.

It was the wrong risk at the wrong time. TMac repeats it often. Last year he was trying to take the game on too much and gettnig caught or turning it over. That seems to have been reduced but similar brain fades like this one happen way too often. Kicking the ball across goal like that is risky on a dry day. Insane on a wet day.
