I'm not sure of the numbers but my intuition tells me that interstate teams pick up a gear when they get the rare chance to play at the MCG, The additional motivation of playing there plus the fact Melboure are known as a flakey team means interstate sides are often pumped and jump out of the blocks against us. Following on from above, 1. we had a dearth of smalls a few years ago and now we have gone all in on speed, and smalls. Why so many? Do you ever draft because you think some might fail? 2. How much of this is based around Richmonds strategy? 3. Which if the previous draftees that we haven't seen much of look the most promising to become A graders? Petty, Jordan, Neitschke, Lockhart, Baker, Sparrow?

That's your view. I think mine is a realistic take. I'd like to see a list of the people that we have 'attracted' to support Goodwin that have been jettisoned in the past 4 years. By your reckoning this should have resulted in success I presume? It's a long list particularly when many of those have been shuffled around in multiple roles to try and find the right combo. We have changed virtually every role except the senior coach. You can keep changing the surrounding personnel but at what point do you reach the conclusion I have come to that the bloke acting as senior coach is not the answer?

Very happy with this appointment but still very concerned about how much baby sitting we have to provide for Goodwin who has essentially failed in his role.

That's the issue. Its a good thing BUT we're not getting the best value out of that. He and Melksham have the ability to kick those flat 50m darts through the corridor that can break open the play and oppo defences. If he's going to play defence we need to get more out of his kicking ability than dinky 15m chip passes.

The problem is that a lot of these guys can't keep the bulk on when they start doing aggressive cardio... STill the strength often remains...

Hipwood is the one for mine that people rave about but rarely puts it together. Kicked 5 freakish goals against us one year if I recall. Probably the one I like out of those is Himmelberg

Everything about his game looks OK except for the fact he rarely takes a one grabber. Fumbles way too much Frankly if he doesn't fire this year he's a bust for mine

Agree with this. A great guy apparently and I wish him well but the fact he stayed for so long at this club when it was clear to most that he had substantial limitations as a footballer is beyond belief. Not one outstanding attribute that you could hang your hat on. He was picked because he was virtually our only tall defensive option. It's not Oscar's fault but the fact the club persisted with him for so long is embarrassing. Those that defended him to the death can start wiping the egg off their faces now.
