  1. I think the Dogs are the hardest done by. Would much rather see them on Fridays than Mick's depress fest. Even if they finish last they'll still have 3-4 next year I bet.
  2. I'm worried about Jetta now. Not sure what M.Jones did to stay in the 18. Thought Bail was better Newton, Bail, Riley and either Gawn/Stretch, if Gawn plays, stick him in the goalsquare and try and expose their smallish defense. sub one of he or Spencer off, if not probably just use Stretch as the sub again and free up the 50 for Hogan-Watts-Garlett, maybe Howe and Pedo can move upfield and ruck a fair bit of the game
  3. Agree. Just like Frawley in his final season with us.
  4. Agree, although whether Tyson will want to stay on board remains to be seen. The other 5 I feel a bit better about future-wise. I just get the feeling that if certain players don't step up soon we're gonna have to completely re-mould our list. (Grimes, Mckenzie, Bail, Terlich, M.Jones for instance). Hopefully one of Michie and Riley can become a consistent complimentary midfielder. Trengove seems passionate about the club, but he needs a lot of improvement after he's healthy
  5. If Dawes plays with Pedo and Hogan we might as well throw the towel in now
  6. It's naive to think things are gonna turn around quickly. As people have said, we lack the basics but I really don't get supporters who constantly adjust their standards We've had two preseasons under Roos, we've recruited several players who were meant to top up our list, we had picks 2+3, if our list is crap now then it probably always will be. Is it insane to think we might have 30 or so players who are developed and mature enough to be inserted into the line up and give a hard contest or at least play with some co-ordinance?
  7. If Hogan misses another week with soreness then steam will start emerging from the tank engine again
  8. That's the problem with footy these days. The actual game is just a small part of their week. That infuriates fans of clubs who've languished at the bottom for ages, when you don't hear enough about the importance of winning. You hear endless praise of players who are mature and train well such as Dawes, then no criticism for what they're meant to be paid to do
  9. Looks like the way is being paved for a Cavs-Warriors finals that most savoured. Lebron pretty much willed them through games 4 and 5 and Irving can even play like a superstar when injured.
  10. For me, the NBA is a nice distraction. Started getting into it a few years ago, primarily as something to follow in the offseason but this year I've watched most of the games in the playoffs which bite into the footy season. Although I side with the Celtics, I don't really support them passionately (as I don't with any team other than the Dees), but nevertheless I feel passionately following another sport is a good enough distraction when our game gets mundane.
  11. Many fans cheered us off after the 94 point West Coast loss. We were leading 50-41 in the first half of that. Then the week after we blitzed GWS with 12 goals in the last quarter. That was a strange couple of weeks
  12. Wouldn't be against it, just he may be on a short leash given he was dropped in R6 after two alright games, just can imagine Riley'd fill his role should Roos swing the axe again
  13. Our communication needs to improve tremendously. I notice our defenders often huddle up and speak to one another, but someone needs to be screaming at these players to present around the ground. Our standards might not have been high under Bailey, but Neeld's restructuring was toxic to the joy within the playing group. We simply didn't have the personnel to execute his vision. Now we apparently STILL don't have the personnel in Roos' second year, despite our signings, and guys are still second guessing themselves and not working hard enough. Now that's annoying.
  14. PJ said we're aiming to playing finals in 2016. That definitely puts a certain level of expectation on this year
  15. I think we went too conservative after Garland and Salem shanked a couple of kicks in the corridor early that cost us goals, kicking to the boundary simply didn't help us given the ruckwork of Spencer/form of our onballers. That said, if Hogan were in some of those packs it could be a different story
  16. We didn't show up for 3 quarters V Sydney and looked lost out there V a weakened Hawthorn side. This year, we have Hogan looking great, McDonald is one of the best defenders in the league, and Brayshaw looks capable. That's about where our positives end. What's wrong with examining our season to date? Maybe you should wait until the year's done until you justify as being 'clearly better'
  17. Did Viney have a setback? Listed at 2-3 now?
  18. Cannot believe this guy's listed at 94kg- that's just insane at 19 and so athletically talented
  19. It feels like there's been a drop off in effort this year and it feels like we no longer have a strong core that Jones, Tyson, Vince and Dunn provided us last year. More players are out of form and our side doesn't look secure. I felt we were more mentally resilient last year and less susceptible to the huge drop offs during games that we've seen. However, we are still 2-5 and have played 3 of the top sides in 3 weeks. Next 2 weeks will be telling, for most of last year and probably the preseason many suggested we are on the same level/even better than the Dogs. The Dogs are foreign to the G but easily accounted for the Tigers there a few weeks ago. If we get thumped by the Dogs it represents a huge backwards step for us, as well as if we don't fight the game out against Port as we matched up with them very well last year.
  20. IN- Watts, Gawn, Riley, Jetta (?), Kennedy-Harris, Newton, Hogan OUT- Stretch, Dawes, Spencer, M.Jones, Toumpas, Salem (if inj), Michie Howe and Grimes stay in pretty much because of a lack of depth. See if Riley can win some clearances. JKH and Newton for some flank play Think Bail did more than M.Jones so he stays. Not fussed if it's Jamar instead of Gawn but I'd like to see Gawn have a "turn" Don't think Brayshaw needs to be rested as it's an 8-day break,
  21. Had my doubts about Frost, but should he fill his potential he's very important as Garland and Dunn are undersized to play on most second talls. Pretty spot on team here as it doesn't look like we're gonna play two ruckmen much
  22. So when in form, Watts isn't in our best 36 players?
  23. If we fail to score more than 50 next week then I'm afraid Messiah himself will come under the hammer (Well unless the Dogs score 49 or less).
