  1. No one congratulates you when you point a gun at someone and miss though
  2. For some reason in the past year or so the players injury report has more of a say than the action itself. Unless you're kicking or marking every other injury caused by contact is virtually a suspension nowadays
  3. I'm not too fussed about adding extra 'star power' in our midfield, another outside runner would be nice who can create when others are fatigued, but our midfield's been our strong suit in the last few weeks and we still have Petracca, Salem and Vandenberg in the wings. Our ruck/forward situation is what we should work on. However if Kent can kick a bunch of goals from half forward or even JKH I'm happy for us to carry a non-goalkicker with Hogan like Pedersen or Dawes as long as they work hard and take marks. Although given they're both in their late 20s a young forward would probably be a good idea
  4. Even though we won in Geelong It's still hard to see us winning at Etihad
  5. 4-8 at the same stages this year and last. Difference is it feels like underachieving whereas last year was overachieving We've built 3 weeks of really good form into the bye after an inconsistent first 9 games. Uncertain about our next match, but Rounds 15-17 is suddenly looking like a great chance for 3 in a row
  6. The first 9 rounds of this season are now haunted by the ghost of Gawn
  7. Today certainly reaffirmed that he's a forward. You'd take 4 possessions, 2 goals and some nice teamwork over 15-20 average possessions out of defence. He's kicked 2 important goals from the boundary in the past two weeks too
  8. A lot of internal praise for Howe. Could suggest that he's staying or just that the club really wants him to
  9. Was today's game a "Miracle on grass"?
  10. Stretch is slowly becoming a weapon. He looks really flashy and evasive and he's not a bad kick either. Dunn played perhaps his best game ever. Credit to Dawes, even though he looked a bit proppy he certainly contributed for forward pressure and he held on to a couple of good marks, which is all he needs to do. Also, one of the biggest surprises was Gawn and Spencer's pairing. Spencer wasn't amazing like Gawn, but he didn't lower his colours or look lost out there
  11. It's as though last week's loss is what it took to show the team that we can''t hope to hold on to a lead and we have to play 4 quarters. Time will tell, but never seen us look so dangerous in our forward half. Most of the time there were options everywhere.
  12. Well, that was almost a surreal experience down at Geelong. We just came to play and kept playing. Barely recognised the team in front of me, well both the teams actually. Complete dominance in the middle. Watts was great, Vince and Jones were magnificent again. Viney made Selwood look like a C-grader. A sensational win when I least expected it. All the Dees fans just suddenly found a voice towards the end too, it was a fantastic atmosphere even though it was about 3 degrees
  13. . Insane whinging? That's a bit of stretch for a small observation
  14. I've noticed Fitzy, Newton and Michie are all hard done by at selection this year. One foot wrong and they're out
  15. Who we struggled against last year. It'll be interesting to see how we fair against them at the G, they tend to pick up in form in the latter stages of seasons. Our midfield is much improved over the last time we went down to the cattery, the Cats have lost Duncan, Bartel and Kelly to injury, so it'll be interesting to see what we can do. Even if we do continually get it forward tomorrow we'll probably be bombing it to no one. Have to get goals out of Vince, Jones and Watts
  16. The Dogs kicked as many goals in a quarter as we've kicked in our past 2 games against Geelong.
  17. There's this game, then a bye, then the Eagles in Darwin, there's a good chance we'll have lost a large chunk of supporters by then. I trust that the medical staff were saying it, I don't think Hogan would've been doubting himself, so I doubt if he did get injured he wouldn't hold it against us. Mind you, I am going to the game, I bought a ticket well before Hogan was withdrawn, and Hogan is pretty much worth half the ticket at the moment
  18. Give him around 75% game time, maybe sub him out. I'd rather we keep our supporters interested rather than just pull out life support for a game in Geelong. Of course, this is just me speculating this soreness is very minor
  19. He's conveniently missed the Hawks game with soreness and now the Cats in Geelong. Nevermind, just let a bunch of spuds compete with the two best teams of the past decade
  20. It's Cross' forte. In fact he had 70 hitouts in 2010 with the Dogs. Although it's quite odd that Howe never takes ruck contests when he can seemingly leap at the flick of a switch, he'll probably just forget and try to mark them though Wouldn't mind seeing Watts doing a bit of rucking. In fact he should run with Blicavs through the middle/maybe drag him into our 50
  21. Wasn't there two runners allowed up until a couple of years ago? If the AFL hadn't changed that we probably would've been able to get the message and won
