  1. I am with you master. Terlich makes poor decisions and is not tight enough on his man.
  2. The best avenue to appeal would be to time the period in which the ball enters Lynch's hands and then the collision occurs. And find an expert to testify that impact was inevitable from this point on. We should also show that Viney's arm was down at the point of impact, indicating he was not attempting to bump. Rather that the collision was a brace to protect himself.
  3. The whole system is a farce. Deledio runs past and throws out an elbow to the face when the ball is dead and its not deliberate?
  4. Wait till he tells them he had to play up an age due too being to rough...
  5. Guilty of not jumping out of the road?
  6. I still think he should get off with a decent defence. Three other points I got from the vision: Viney had eyes on the ball and then Lynch got a very 'friendly' bounce. Viney's arm stayed pointed down which indicates there was no election to bump. Rather he was just bracing himself. This differs to the Fyfe case, where Fyfe elected to bump. Lynch's head lowered down towards the level of the shorter Viney's shoulder only due to Georgiou's pressure.
  7. Ben Griffiths at Richmond is out of contract and would be worth going for as a second ruck/forward. He is competing with Vickery and Hampson and is somehow in the VFL at the moment.
  8. Byrnes’ Recent Stats: vs Sydney 6 kicks and 6 handballs at 58% DE, 4 tackles, 1 goals, 55 SuperCoach points vs Adelaide 2 kicks and 8 handballs at 90% DE, 4 tackles, 0 goals, 49 SuperCoach points While our forward entries remain low, Byrnes is hardly setting the world on fire. We can do better.
  9. Let's hope his wife has their baby early in the week.
  10. The only thing stopping Cross playing this weekend is a Jack Viney hip and shoulder.
  11. There is a difference between choosing to bump and protecting your ribs. Viney did the later and there was no intent to hurt.
  12. • Great win on the weekend but I still think we can improve the side. • Clisby in for Terlich. Terlich was ok on Saturday but still is a liability due to poor decision making. Clisby and Jetta should be able to match up on Hunter and Dahlhaus (who is in really good form). • Kent in for Byrnes. Kent is already the better player and is our future. • Garland in for Georgiou or Frawley (if injured). Terlich gets a reprieve if both Georgiou and Frawley are injured. Garland is an automatic selection and, as much as I like Georgiou, we need a bit more drive off half back. • Frawley needs to go back and so Dunn should go forward. • Time to give Salem a full run at it. • We cannot play two ruckmen so it needs to be either Jamar or Gawn. FB: Garland Frawley Clisby HB: Grimes McDonald Jetta C: Vince N. Jones Howe HF: Bail Pederson Dunn FF: Salem Dawes JKH Foll: Jamar Tyson Cross Int: Viney Watts M. Jones Kent (sub) edit: formatting
  13. This isn't a bad idea, but it also requires an even distribution of games vs Victorian clubs etc and this is made difficult due to a 22 game / 18 club fixture. Also, there really needs to be a safety net in place because fans are so loyal to their clubs and won't change in the event one dies. You cannot have a draft/salary cap system if the future of weaker clubs looks tenuous. It would just lead to a Colts/Elway situation and the whole system could be brought down.
  14. Gil was a gun player in the VAFA. It is interesting that he has the support of both Eddie (rich club) and Brayshaw (poor club).
  15. We should look to split the pick(s) like we did last year. Goddard might actually develop into a tall mid like his cousin.
  16. 1. We may not have pick 1. 2. Ruckmen/hit outs are highly overrated. 3. A good ruckman can be acquired in other ways or later in the draft. (Think of Mumford, Grundy, Cox, Sandilands, Jacobs, Maric, McIntosh, Hale, McEvoy, Pyke etc) 4. The press has reduced the impact of KPFs in the AFL, as they must push up the ground to defend and so they don't lead up at the ball as they do in underage footy. 5. Hogan will come good eventually.
  17. I agree that we need to target a ruckman, but we would be better off trading for one.
  18. While believing in always drafting best available, I would be trying to boost our midfield again at the end of the year. The game has changed and top midfielders are of much more value than good KPP these days. Look at who are the top players today (Ablett, Selwood, Watson, Dangerfield, Pendlebury and Mitchell) and compare that to yesteryear when it would have been Dunstall, Brereton, Carey, Kernahan and Lockett. Given our pick is likely to be very early again and much of the top end talent is KPPs, I would be in favour of trading down our pick(s) again. I also think underage KPPs often look better draft prospects than they actually are because underage games are more open and there are more one-on-one marking contests.
  19. With 18 players on the field, one player can only have so much influence. (Gary Ablett Jnr only racks up around 10% of GCS total SuperCoach points, which is an indicator of his value.) And given how difficult it is to postulate how 18 year old boys will develop, this means the draft is an extremely ineffective tool in evening up the competition. The AFL should restrict the first round of the draft to only teams that miss the eight and then go in reverse ladder order for round 2. I would also be in favour of a weighted lottery for the first round. This change is particularly necessary in a world of Free Agency.
  20. I don’t rate Terlich’s disposal and he has been too loose defensively. I don’t think we have a really good defensive small back, so I would prefer to go with a better distributor and wear the consequences. Take your pick of Toumpas, Clisby or Strauss. I would like to have gone for Toumpas if he had have shown a bit more at Casey last week but I would give Clisby a chance this week. Garland also has to come in if fit and I would do so at the expense of Jetta. I also don’t rate what Jamar provides and think he is well past it. He is a tree around the ground and I don’t value hit outs as highly as others. I would go with Spencer or Gawn. Byrnes offers no future for us and Kent (if fit) or another midfielder should come in. Howe is clearly more talented than anyone at Casey and should be persevered with. Watts is lucky to hold his spot and can start as the sub. FB: Georgiou (Lynch) Pedersen (Pods) Clisby HB: Grimes McDonald (Jenkins) Garland (Betts) C: Vince N. Jones Howe HF: Bail Frawley Dunn FF: Kent Dawes JKH Foll: Gawn Tyson Cross Int: Viney Salem M. Jones Watts The match ups assume that Taylor Walker won’t play. I am undecided who takes Dangerfield, but it probably has to be N Jones (or possibly Dunn?). Edit: Formatting
  21. Roos is obviously trying to get the most out of Watts by using the carrot rather than stick. I think this is the correct approach. (Although Watts’ game on the weekend would have tested his patience and I would always pick our best 22. I doubt he is in it the way he is playing.) I also think Roos realises he has more chance of improving Watts’ intensity and turning him into an AFL footballer than he has improving the skills of the alternatives (McKenzie, Nicholson, Evans, Fitzpatrick etc).
  22. You cannot read much into the reactions of tired players while copping a serve.
  23. Nicholson maybe, but I am not sure he is big enough. His job on Griffen last year was OK, despite being beaten.
  24. • Watts is possibly playing too many minutes and his skill errors could be partly due to fatigue. I also think he is playing several kilos too light and the key emphasis of his development needs to be putting on size, not increasing his tank. He is naturally weak (strength wise) and this exacerbates his inability in a contest. • Aside from his lack of appetite in the contest and poor tackling, the most frustrating part of Watt’s game is his inability to attack the ball and take it cleanly in the air at the highest point. He is always trying to take marks a meter off the ground. • On another point, Watts would be one of the game’s biggest beneficiaries from any rule changes to reduce congestion. • Jamar is a tree around the ground and the game has passed him by IMO. Roos made an error in playing him forward at all, as he provides nothing. With Pederson doing a pretty good job as second ruck, I would hate to see Gawn come in at the expense of anyone but Jamar. • Salem looks fantastic. The Tyson trade looks to be a real winner for us, as Salem could well be the best player from the draft. • There is no way I would drop Howe given the lack of options at Casey. • Roos isn’t using the bench enough to rotate the midfield IMO, with our small forwards (JKH, Bail, Byrnes and Salem all playing very low minutes). Maybe we should play one less small forward and an extra midfielder. • Frawley should start in the centre bounces. He could be like Josh Kennedy in the midfield. • Terlich isn’t up to it. He was too loose and his skills let us down. Likewise, Jetta isn’t quite skilled enough given his lack of pace and size. We should experiment with players like Clisby, Toumpas, Strauss and Blease as small defenders for the rest of the year. • I would only bring in McKenzie (best for Casey) if we felt he could tag Dangerfield.
