  1. if there is any problem and I mean ANY problem with Grimes, do not play him, he is the most important player we have. He has future captain written all over him and I don't want him being another ang christou, garry lyon (lingering back problems) because they play him for the rest of the year.
  2. I think the tactic of getting smashed in the first quarter and then being competitive for the rest of the game is the best. At least you get something out of the game and there is no awful moment when you don't know what to think e.g whether you barrack for the win or hope they lose. If you notice west coast are very good at the bad starts in quite of few of their games since their season was shot, game is over by quarter time and there is no qualms about blatant tanking in the last quarter.
  3. Is there a future for morton as a forward? he is nice and tall and seems to know where to go and kicked 3 on the weekend (although 1 was a gift). We might as well experiment with it and see how it goes, worse thing is that it does work and we end up losing against the swans (which is not a bad thing)
  4. jamar should have a big game, he only has to compete against mumford. if he is as good as we thing he should towel him
  5. no surprise, good move. Maybe start 'resting" players after this game.
  6. afl.com.au have released stats from the u-18 champs. I noticed with surprise that scully's kicking efficency was 61.2%, Moribato (who everyone is bagging about his kicking) kicking efficency rate was 61.7%. I know that everyone will point to the fact that scully's overall disposal efficeny was 76.2% but I am not all that concerned about how well he handpasses. Is his kicking something to be concerned about?. I believe it is paramount that we get a midfielder who is elite by foot. I also note that Trengrove efficency was 70.8% which was high compared to others.
  7. if any player is carrying an injury they should be told to rest and prepare for our onslaught of 2010
  8. woops that was a big mistake he can go on the bench with a view to playing on the wing and half back like he did for a while on the weekend, he is in for mckenzie.
  9. Lets have a bit of fun, this is my ultimate tank team. Don't think this team will win many games but the team could help us for the future. The team is a combination of players who need to prove themselves/ need some AFL expirence/ about to retire so play them for a send off/ need to get something out of the season and look positively towards next season. B Whelan Martin Batram HB Benell Rivers Cheney C Wheatley Grimes Morton HF Hughes Miller Jetta F Jurrah Newton Bate R Jamar Dunn Macdonald I PJ, Valenti, Bail, McKenzie (if can be elevated off rookie list)
  10. I feel sick about winning more than four, heads should roll if we win more than five games, the cost of not doing so will outweigh any benefit this is despite what people say, the long term view must be taken. I am happy for the boys to get a winning culture but that can wait until next year. It is too crucial with gold coast taking every decent pick for the next few years,
  11. In Batram Out Bell After this week we should blood youngsters like cheney, hughes, bennell, bail, watts. etc etc and see what they are made of, also it may diminish our chances of winning which is not the worst thing given our win on the weekend.
  12. He has a future at the club, his penertrating kicking and willingness to run through the lines was good yesterday. These elements are crucial for our team to have to enable a breaking of a zone defence. Believe he can be important for us and can do more than just tag. Thought his grab in the first quarter was fantastic. He copes heaps but I am a fan.
  13. why did we not get this draw when we were up the top! would have been a lovely way to come into finals!
  14. I would give pick 2 for this kid, he is a gun and going to better than anything we get for that pick. word is that he is homesick but is a loyal bloke so not sure how much of a chance it is.
  15. plan should be lose every game until we play freo beat them round 20. At least then we don't finish the season losing heaps in a row. Tigers should have incentive to beat us, they are only 3 wins and therefore can afford to win another game. I think we will end up coming second last and have pick 1 & 4 (eagles get the priority as well) I think we are a big chance to get trengove as the WA teams might draft within the state.
  16. official in dunn/bell out sylvia/bennell no issue there.
  17. chris judd was a melbourne supporter, brock was def a fan of the bombers.
  18. looks like barry was not one who was all doom and gloom about butcher's performance. Clearly he is a fan of scully and trengrove. Rohan might be another who could be considered. No mention of moribato but he was clearly impressed with WA's performance so someone from WA might be a huge chance for our second pick. great article but I want to know more about what the recruiters mindset is coming into this draft.
  19. I sponsor him with a group of people, he is a fantastic guy who has MFC Captain written all over him.
  20. agree it has to be dunn. Great chance to see what he is made of. I believe that he has a future as a half forward flanker/ midfielder at the club.
  21. In hindsight I am dissapointed that we did not go for some more KPP last year, the recruiters should have done their research and seen that there was a good chance that this crop was going to be a lacking in key KPP. I know we were trying to clear up our issues with disposal efficency by picking up blease and strauss but I would have thought a mckernan, for example, would have been more value long term.
  22. no I didn't but there are no KPP players that look good this year and I am trying to find a way to get one that is half decent. Cats may get rid of him if they think that their first round pick from last year (brown) is up to it, the raps on him are good before he broke his leg.
  23. Would anyone be intrested in trading for him with our second round pick? get 2 mids with first two picks and a forward and our depth is looking good. In saying this the jury is out on whether the tomahawk is bona fide footballer.
  24. we have plenty of winnable games coming home which I hate to say is a concern, it is crucial we get pick 1, scully is that far ahead of the others it would be great to have with pick one 1 & and trengrove with pick 3 (west coast won't win other game). port will have plenty of incentive to win which is not the same as north, freo and tigers who we play on the home stretch.
  25. very underrated player think he will be a topliner soon.
