  1. I think many of us can appreciate those slogans, but I suspect they'd shy away from anything that could blow up in their faces. Particulalrly considering how much pressure it'd put on an untried first year coach.
  2. Nab Cup 1st round was Feb 11 and it was a win, so that probably helped the cause too. Last year was a bit of an abherration with the longer season and earlier start.
  3. Last years practice match was Feb 3rd. And last year there was an expectation of at least pushing for the finals.
  4. At some stage I'm going to feel like a real tightarse cheapskate by just paying the one off life membership. Any chance you are going to have a facility to accept donations? No rush, I don't expect the guilt to kick in for quite some time.
  5. Stay strong Macca. Keep fighting the good fight. Can't say I've ever been a huge Stones fan. Having said that Gimme Shelter is up there as one of the all time great songs. Brilliant video.
  6. An interesting article on Nathan Jones in The Age. He talks about playing more as an inside contested player this year. Exercising the Demons.
  7. It must be a reference to big Max Walker? He always gives me a good laugh!
  8. Yes I guess to a certain extent you're never going to get true value in trade for a superstar like Judd. But they did do fairly well out of it. Picked at #3 played just about every game for 6 years (130 odd games) is a good start. And getting pick #3, #20 and Josh Kennedy (Pick #4) was a fairly reasonable return.
  9. Many have been calling for this change. Here's almost a confirmation of Davey going back to the future (or is it forward to the future?). Davey to return to defensive forward role.
  10. I noticed that too. It's great isn't it. No doubt there'll be a few articles on the Pies and a few others. Aahh yes, AFL as it should be, a spectator sport!
  11. I was just doing a bit of channel surfing and noticed a gem on ABC2. Arrested Development. THE..... GREATEST..... SHOW..... EVER! If you haven't seen it yet, do yourself a favour. I think there's a movie due out this year? And a doco to boot! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9TXVMkQ29g Also I'm part way through the doco Thin Blue Line on ABC iView. Looks like a good real life murder mystery.
  12. It's got the funky alright. Nice one. That John Mayer is a clever bugger. On a side note I saw Joss Stone at the Notes From The Hard Road concert last year. Incredible voice.
  13. Hard to beat that one. Is this a veiled attempt to get the thread back on topic?
  14. Yeah.... But.... At least I said sorry. I see your the Lonely Island and raise you Weird Al.
  15. From memory it wasn't until someone suggested a certain way of strapping or taping that he actually got some relief from his OP ailment. Consistency in his performance should come with consistency in our team performance. But certainly it would be a sight for sore eyes to see him fit and regularly performing in the midfield. Sadly with him injured over the pre season I don't see this happening this year. Maybe he could still be utilised in the midfield but with a majority of his time in the forward line? Similar to Swan and Ablett but accounting for the difference in work rates/ fitness.
  16. Am I wrong in seeing some similarity between Benny and Sharrod Wellingham? Wellingham seems to have improved out of sight in the last few seasons, but it has been on the back of a few A grade midfielders that draw most of the opposition attention. He has had a few stand out performances from memory in the absence of a few CFC stars, but this was after a fair dose of confidence and in a premiership team. At this stage, save for a strong midfield ahead of him, the major thing I see holding Benny back is some cohones. In some respects he reminds me of the cowardly lion. Call me ignorant.
  17. And not only was Judd at the Eagles long enough for them to get a reasonable return from him, they also got equitable recompense for him in a trade. (I'm not bitter!)
  18. I know that the Melbourne FC heirachy will have this sponsorship thing in hand. But are they thinking of us poor highly strung supporters? I guess it's still the off season and gives us something to talk about. I'm finding it somewhat distracting though. Anyone with inside information care to put my mind at ease?
  19. I was lucky enough to see Roger Waters The Wall in concert over the weekend. And wow, what a show it was. I think it really was a golden age of music, the likes of which I don't think we'll ever see again. In our current iTunes climate we are seeing a the demise of albums, so it is hard to imagine someone producing an album so memorable, let alone a concept double album such as The Wall. For anyone that went, or is interested, here's an article on how much work went into the concert and some of the technology and attention to detail went into the show. I know I've posted a Pink Floyd song previously, but I post this as a mark of respect to such a memorable, moving and breathtaking show. From the original movie The Wall. 20. Ha. Funniest thing I've heard in ages! This is a remix of Skrillex's First of the Year (Equinox) and Katy Perry's ET. I don't mind a bit of Skrillex (I can't get enough of ), the original is pretty good, but I think this is a better version. I don't know if it's an improvement on Katy Perry's song as I can't remember ever hearing it.So apologies in advance, it's not rock, it's dubstep, it's Skrillex, it's Katy Perry, and to top it all off it's not even a video. 21. Is this an inappropriate time to post a Skrillex & Katy Perry remix?
  22. Great tune. That one's going straight to the pool room. Yeah, I've only just started listening to Roy Budd. But that song struck a chord (boom boom) the instant I heard it. Clever guy.
  23. I think it's a great move. Mat Burgan has been great for us in many ways, but he always seems a little uneasy in front of the camera.
