Gary Ablett's last contract at Geelong initially looked to be very generous, but ended up being a pittance in comparison to his form over the last few years there. Scully seems to have the drive to be the ablsolute best he can possibly be and we can measure it's value retrospectively. But how do you put a value on having the ablility to drive, motivate and drag fellow teammates to bigger and things? I'm sure I read an article on Nathan Jones stating that having Scully and Trengove in the teams gives him the drive to be better.

Is getting the equivalent compensation recieved by Geelong for Ablett enough for a 20 yo number 1 draft pick? I don't think it even comes close. Would GWS trade their number 1 pick in return for our compensatory picks? No chance, they'd still have their hand out for a more. I hope he stays because there's no way we'll get an equitable return. On top of that I think he'll be a truly great player, something the Dees are desperate for, a bonafide marquee player.

I think Bruce & McDonald are both on the veterans list at the moment, so either of them going only really opens up a spot on the rookie list. I believe there will be a clearing out of the rookie list (one way or another) come years end, plenty of picks without clearing extra spots, so I have no problems with both staying on next year. Does anyone know if Green is eligible to be put on the Veteran list next year? Could be a way of effectively swapping a rookie spot for a senior spot?

From kick-ins, how many times have we kicked long to The Russian? Surely we must have a few different options/plans to make it a bit less predictable?

Yes, it's true, I'm sick of losing. I understand why Bailey was given an extra year, at the time I thought it was a good idea. I also understand that as a young side the player development will continue for some time. What I want to see some of is team development. If Bailey was without structures to isolate players and see how they would react, then I'm sure he would/should know enough by now. But this year we should see player and team development. From what I saw on Saturday there was little or no team development.

Surely after 2 seasons and 3 preseasons the time for testing is over. If Bailey doesn't have a fair handle on what the players are capable of now, when will he? I think that maybe it is a little premature to judge Bailey so far this season (I didn't catch any preseason games), but the time for testing is over, he needs to show what he is capable of this year. Slightly on topic, can you coach awareness? I saw a few passages where our players where so focused on the ball that they missed opportunities to shepherd (I'm sure there where other incidents but the wine I consumed to ease my pain has also dulled my memory)

Thanks KC. I'm pretty sure I saw it listed at the QEO on the Bombers website (Or maybe I'm in denial?). I just hope the QEO holds up to see Casey play there in May. I'm sure he was offered an incentive based contract, but was certainly better off with Carlton's guaranteed 2 year contract. I found it a little frustrating on another level though, seeing other teams Father/Son selections do so well, and our only selection jumps ship. Oh well, bring on Jack Viney.

I think you'll find that they take emergency players with them on interstate games, hence Jones not being named for Casey. Looking forward to match tonight. Will be interesting to see how they perform.

And where would we be if we had taken that stance with Frawley. He was drafted as a 17 year old and you want to delist him after 2 years?

Not sure how accurate it is but the AFL injury list has Rivers as only 1 week. Frawley listed as 2 weeks. Promising if true.

Can someone confirm if Spencer is actually eligible to play? He's still a Rookie and I thought that he was elevated only while Jamar was on the LTI list?

For those unable to get to the next game, I'm pretty sure it is being televised live on ABC Grandstand this Saturday. I haven't seen a few of the new recruits yet so it will be an interesting viewing.
