meh, i know i'm not 6ft 5 but I ran 16.2 at pre-season training last year. It's one aspect of the draft testing that they don't seem to do particularly well in
-
i hope you'are right. i just hope we take best available with all of our picks. no use in picking up a staker clone at 11 or 18 just because they are key position
-
Maybe because Morabito is full of X-factor and full of speed. the modern day goal-kicking midfielder. 190cm that breaks tackles also. I prefer morabito. Morabito doesnt have good footskills compared to trengove but he beats him at pace and x-factor
-
he actually said it at the draft camp and you are making up everything you just stated other than north claiming that they want martin. Everything else you said was pure unsourced speculation.
-
butcher won't slide to 11 ppl geez. he will either be picked up by us at 2, richmond at 3. north at 5, sydney at 6, port at 8 or 9 or essendon at 10. Bailey has hinted that we will pick butcher by saying 'we will be picking up 1 midfielder with our first 2 picks'. You be the judge.

luke ball is an all-australian and captain at 21. he has performed well in a grand final and his courage is never doubted. Jesse smith has played about 3 good games. You can't compare them. Ball for sure
-
Winners Brisbane: Picked up Fev (arguably the comps best forward) for pick 12 and a young fringe player. Stkilda: Lovett was a good pick up and would have made a difference in the GF. Icing on the icing really. losers Carlton: Losing Fev cheaply Collingwood: Not offerring Stkilda something reasonable for Luke ball. They should have got him. Also lose big points for giving away a prized 1st round pick when they already have Fraser. They also used a pick o Cam Wood last year. Poor call.

talia is more of a backmen than a forward people. relax
-
early or late it is. from now on if someone says high or low draft pick without elaborating im going to crack the shits
-
2 posts.2 different opinions. I agree that they are called high draft picks..but technically they should be 'low'?
-
What he said. I might have been exaggerating slightly with pushing Murphy out..but if a team was playing in a grand final and could choose between a fit murphy and a fit mclean. I'd go mclean. unbelievable onfield leadership. And I do know the circumstances of all the trades listed above. Thompson wanted to go..and whilst he was injury prone, he was always going to turn out to be a star of the comp. I had his number on my guernsey far before anyone else. You don't let players like that slip for picks. If we don't get fair compensation then set an example and let them go into the PSD. If we did that to Thompson maybe Mclean wouldnt have left.
-
Is a top 5 pick (for example) termed a high pick or a low pick? Some people call it 'high' because they are the 'top' players i.e a high pick is the best you can get whereas some people call it a low draft pick because numbers 1-5 are lower (i.e. smaller) than numbers more than 5. So ultimately, is Scully going to be a high draft pick or a low draft pick? ALways wanted to sort this out.

8,000 of fence sitting posts there RR
-
under-rating how massive this is. Grimes is a good player but Mclean's kicking was heaps better. still is. Everyone would jump off Grimes too if he wanted to leave clubs.
-
you've got your blinkers on if you think mclean wasn't one of our biggest player in our future. he will knock marc murphy out of the blues midfield. the chances are that pick 11 will not turn out to be better thab brock. pick 11 has historically proven this. What happens when scully and trengove/morabito want to move to another club? are we going to roll over, yet again.
-
That's all well to say, but what happens when Trengove or Scully hit their prime and want to move clubs? We get a pick 6-10 for them and the whole process starts again. Bloody joke of a club. Would have preferred to put him through to the PSD Mark Williams style.
-
With Mclean's departure, we now have an 'impressive' list of players that we have let go FAR too easily. Here they are thus far: Scott Thompson Troy Simmonds Darren Jolly Brock Mclean Feel free to add to this list. I wonder where we would be now if we kept these players.
-
Or you could just talk to me. I find it almost laughable that we lose a future captain for a pick 11(historically a bad pick) in a poor draft yet we are talking about how important it is to keep brad Miller. This Mclean thing will bite us in the bum more than Scott Thompson.

agreed. as if port would do that. they aren't stupid

1. Melbourne: T. Scully Best available mid. 2. Melbourne: J. Trengove Arguable the 2nd best available mid. Very tidy 3. Richmond: D. Martin Foot skills galore. 4. Fremantle: A. Morabito speedy 190cm midfielder with questionable kicking but has x-factor 5. North Melbourne: G. Rohan Lanky wingman that can be played up forward. 6. Sydney: J.Butcher. Will snap up Butcher here with no real key forwards. No way they will let him go. North the only risk of them not getting him. 7. West Coast: Kane lucas 2nd best Western Australian in the draft. A dominic cassisi clone. 8. Port Adelaide: L. Tapscott 9. Port Adelaide: Ben Cunnington. (Burgoyne deal) Purely best available mid. COuld also go higher to North at 5. 10. Essendon: K.Stevens Best available mid that has been somewhat forgotten about. Goes hard at the footy.

totally agree with the original post. People that are happy with this trade are idiots. Lets have a look at pick 11 in the past: Andreis Everitt (2006, pick 11): no impact to date Shaun Higgins (2005, pick 11) : Gun Adam Thomson (2004, pick 11): Dud Beau Waters (2003, pick11): injury prone. Winderlich(2002, pick 11): Good player Richard Cole (2001, pick 11): Dud Trent Sporn (2000, pick 11): Dud With a weaker draft this year, we can't expect to get as good a player as above. It's amazing how quickly people turn off Mclean because of an injury riddled season. Just like those people that were off Sylvia. Where are those people now? WHERE ARE YOU! own up to being wrong you flogs.
-
when all is said and done, Morabito has X-factor and speed that Jack Trengove will never have. Perth clubs would take Morabito before Scully if they had the number 1 pick. Morabito and Trengove is a still a 50/50.
-
this is not true. can't believe this thread has had so many posts. so stupid
-
Bailey said on the draft camp 'we will be picking at least 1 midfielder with one of our first 2 picks'...arrrrrrgggggghhhhhhh this means john butcher
