It's a 'power rankings' exercise, not a mock draft. I'm not being facetious, but they're not one and the same; i.e., a particular club may recruit on needs rather than 'best available', which is also on explanation for why there can be a divergence between the too. Similarly, the power rankings can be based on Cal's view of form, independent of drafting expectations.

Absolutely, although at this stage he’s a bit of a unicorn. He’ll be in Year 11 next year and he’s already measuring in at 200cm, he’s grown around 4 - 5 cms this season and he’s been playing as a winger and mid. He’s a raw talent, but exceptionally athletically gifted, though he’ll need to work on his craft over the next couple of seasons. That being said, I’ve heard him first-handedly described as “elite for his age” and that “he’ll play AFL” (verbatim) by a couple of people who work in the Haileybury footy department.

Corey, Tarion’s brother, is a real chance to get drafted as it stands and he is currently eligible to be drafted by the MFC based on the current NGA eligibility. He’s eligible for the 2027 draft.

FWIW, if it's looking like we're not going to take a slider like Grlj (presuming he slips), I'm becoming more confident we'll look at Pickett with one of those selections.

Yeah, I'm a bit underwhelmed by what it looks like we'll do, tbh. Personally think that if Grlj and Lindsay were both available getting them in would go a long way to transforming our side with some great ball movement. I'm not burning the house down and at the end of the day we'll need to hold judgement, but this is the first draft in a long-time I'm feeling pretty uninspired.

In terms of those profiles, neither White nor Ah-Mu were ranked in the top 50 of draft prospects for this year. Now, they're both notably different types of players so I'm not sure I would draw a strong comparison, but worth noting at least as a baseline. He booted five goals for the Dragons in round 2 of the Coates Talent League and four more against the Calder Cannons in round 13. However, he had a quiet first two matches for Vic Metro in the under-18 national championships before suffering a PCL knee injury after flying for a mark in the second quarter of the side’s third match against the Allies. That injury sidelined Ludowyke for the rest of the year, including the national draft combine in October. But scouts still know what he offers. An athletic forward who looks up to GWS young gun Aaron Cadman, Ludowyke presents well on the lead, works up the ground like a good modern-day AFL key forward, flies for his marks and has high footy IQ. Draft Power Rankings currently have him just inside the top 50, at Number 47. 47 - Fred Rodriguez Midfielder A natural-born leader who is lethal on both sides of his body, Rodriguez took out MVP honours for Western Australia Club South Fremantle / Fremantle City Dockers State WA Height 184cm DOB 10/07/07 Ball Winning / Kicking / Leadership / Pressure Rodriguez followed up an impressive bottom-age campaign with another consistent season playing for a range of teams. The combative midfielder was named the WA captain ahead of the under-18 national championships and led from the front, acting as a catalyst for their only win over Vic Country by booting two goals from 17 touches. While he played mostly onball during the tournament, he was named on a half-forward flank in the under-18 All-Australian side. Rodriguez possesses an impressive left and right foot, reminiscent of fellow WA-born Lawson Humphries, and he isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty defensively by laying strong tackles. He has a great blend of inside grunt and outside run as a midfielder - a trait few possess – along with exceptional workrate. Rodriguez mixed his time between playing for South Fremantle’s Colts, reserves and senior sides in the WAFL this year. He was named his side’s best player in a losing Grand Final against Claremont in the WAFL Colts in September, logging 25 disposals, nine clearances and one goal. Scouting Notes 30/10/2025 Tairon Ah-Mu Forward, Ruck A contested marking beast in attack, Ah-Mu has monstered more than a few opponents this year Club Dandenong Stingray / Berwick State VIC Height 198cm DOB 06/06/2007 Overhead Marking / Power / Versatility / Scoreboard Impact A big and powerful forward who can also rotate through the ruck, Ah-Mu has some impressive traits and has had some eye-catching moments and matches this year. He kicked six goals from 10 disposals and eight marks (five contested) in a trial match for Vic Country’s under-18s in April and went on to have a solid under-18 national championships campaign for the side. Ah-Mu kicked seven goals across Vic Country’s first three games, including two majors from 12 disposals and 10 marks (four contested) in the match against South Australia. Likened to Adelaide’s Riley Thilthorpe, his overhead marking is a clear strength but he also presents strongly on the lead and is a booming kick. When in the ruck, Ah-Mu competes well and can follow up at ground level to win clearances, but there is a knock on his running capacity. He finished the season with a bang for the Stingrays, logging 22 disposals, 12 marks, 13 score involvements, four goals and 199 ranking points in a quarter-final loss to GWV Rebels in the Coates Talent League. Ah-Mu also had some monster matches for Haileybury College in school football this season. Scouting Notes 30/10/2025 Kalani White Ruck, Defender A raw but promising tall, White is set to follow in his father's footsteps at Melbourne Linked Clubs: Melbourne Club Gold Coast Suns Academy / Broadbeach State QLD Height 201cm DOB 05/05/2007 Versatility / Speed / Vertical Leap / Mobility A developing tall, White didn’t dominate this year but did show enough signs to suggest he could be a player of the future. An athletic player with good speed, an exciting natural leap and strong aerial abilities, he was trialed across all three areas of the ground. The AFL Academy member has never been a high accumulator of the footy but flies for the ball in the air and is a nice kick for a player of his size when he does win it. He also showed some handy ruck work at times. White played three VFL games for Casey in the second half of the season, collecting nine disposals, 11 hitouts and two goals in a round 12 debut against Essendon. While he has been in the Gold Coast Suns Academy since under-16s, it was announced in August that White had nominated for Melbourne as a father-son prospect in this year's draft. APS Profile (10 September 2025) Tairon Ah-Mu (Haileybury College) "The Vic Country talent shapes as a promising ruck prospect heading into the draft after a strong APS campaign with the premiers. Ah-Mu’s tapwork in the ruck was strong and he gave Haileybury’s midfield plenty of first use, but he was also impactful around the ground and could take crucial marks either side of the ball."

Yep watched this one through the other day! If we're able to nab Grlj I'd be over the moon.

For readability it might be easier to amend this to only reflect teams with draft selections inside the top 30. It gets a bit messy seeing clubs mentioned in there as having multiple picks etc then only one pick reflected due to the methodology.

Scouting Notes 31/10/2025 - Aidan Schubert Ruck, Forward Another mobile tall with a basketball background, Schubert shot up draft boards during the national championships Club Central District / Gawler Central State SA Height 197cm DOB 21/12/2007 Mobility / Overhead Marking / Scoreboard Impact / Endurance An exciting mobile tall, Schubert prefers to play ruck but showed plenty with his work in the forward line for South Australia during the under-18 national championships. AFL scouts wanted to see what he could do in attack at national level and he didn’t take long to show them as he booted four goals from 14 disposals and eight marks in his state’s first game against the Allies. Along with his aerobic capacity, Schubert’s contested marking is a major feature of his game and his kicking is good for a player of his size. He also showed his competitive nature and some good tap and follow-up work rotating as back-up ruckman. Schubert was dominant at SANFL under-18 level with Central District this year, including a 17-disposal, 11-hitout, six-clearance and four-goal game against South Adelaide in round 4. He kicked 28.21 from 13 games, while also booting one more goal in a senior SANFL debut against Norwood in round 20. The performances at under-18 level saw him win the SANFL U18 MVP Award at the end of the season, before he put his mobility on show by placing equal-eighth in the 2km time trial at the national draft combine with a time of 6 min 21 sec. A former junior basketball star, Schubert represented SA Country at the 2024 Australian U18 Men’s National Basketball Championships before choosing to focus on football this year. Scouting Notes 31/10/2025 - Xavier Taylor Defender Winning the ball back across half-back is so important in modern football and Taylor does that exceptionally well Club Eastern Ranges / East Ringwood State VIC Height 192cm DOB 30/01/2007 Intercepting / 1 on 1 Defending / Run & Carry / Footy IQ A defender whose stocks rose during his national championships campaign for Vic Metro, Taylor stopped plenty of opposition forays forward. He defends well one-on-one, reads the play nicely to get to the right spots and intercept the footy and displayed some desperate defensive actions. A Richmond supporter who looks up to Nathan Broad, Taylor is a task-oriented player. His offensive game was a weakness coming into the year but has improved, which has seen him provide more run and carry on the way out when he does win the ball back. Taylor was particularly impressive in Vic Metro’s last two games of the championships, winning 16 disposals, eight marks (two intercept marks) and five spoils in the final match against Vic Country. He also played some strong football in the Coates Talent League this year, including in a round 7 match where he took on Sydney Swans Academy forward Max King and finished with 24 disposals, 12 marks (four intercepts) and five tackles. Taylor was named in defence in the Coates Talent League Team of the Year and won the best-on-ground medal in the competition’s Grand Final in September. He patrolled the back half and controlled the air in that match, finishing with 25 disposals, 15 marks (four intercept marks) and two spoils.
