  1. Mate I would love you to prove me wrong. But will the GC accept miller...what bargaining power do they have? I'am worried that we should not [censored] off the AFL in whatever dealings we do with GC as we are not yet self-supporting.
  2. GC i imagine will be aiming to keep at least 4 of the top 5 picks in 2010. Pick 6 is available to the team who comes bottom however. I would be happy if we gave up Petterd for anything we receive. Dont see Petterd as having much upside unfortunately...
  3. Agreed. I dont resent him at all for what he has done but definately he is no longer captain material.
  4. Brian lake and first round pick would satisfy both parties I would have thought.
  5. Great news. Now what about LJ, has be come out of contract??
  6. Why is the davey rumour not getting much attention!! arghhh
  7. Im glad scully and trengrove wont be attending. Recruiters have seen them in action and what they are capable of, anyone willing to snubb them over some draft camp tests should be sat in the corner. I remember Daniel Rich last year was not a standout at draft camp which contributed to his slip in the draft and I'am sure opposition sides like Cartlon are kicking themselves and demanding answers from their recruiters.
  8. My trade will be complete in perfect fashion when I wake up tomorrow morning to see Flash and LJ both on 3 year contact tomorrow morning (hoping).
  9. Mate stop living in the past. Robbo is no longer a "very good player". He is an average player at best and nor does he posses much leadership. The days of melbourne giving oppurtunities to players based on sentiment died with Daniher and that is what bothers Robbo the most, as we all know the correct decision was made regarding his future. If I see Robbo ploding along down in Bentleigh 1 more time, I'll let him know how I feel...
  10. I now intensely dislike Robbo. Its funny though how the footy world doesnt even bat an eyelid over the stuff he says. Go have a sook Robbo because: -No one wanted to pick up Robbo, Yze, White etc for a reason, and reaffirms why his comments are utter garbage. -The idea that we cant afford to recontract Davey is a joke, we're well below salary cap (something which never occurred during Robbo's [censored] era) and in the best financial position in decades. - Davey will resign along with the rest of our talented youngsters, and players like Burgoyne have nominated melbourne as a potential suiter for a trade because they see the enormous upside the team has. - The idea that we dont treat older players right is true in part, like all AFL clubs trying to rebuild, however, having said that if you are good enough you will get recontracted in your 30s. Just look at JMac and Bruce. The bottom line is Melb, along with Hawthorn and Collingwood are in the best position of all current AFL clubs to achieve success after the compromised drafts. If I was a draftee Melbourne would be my club of choice to join this year, knowing that the FD will invest in you and that there is much oppurtunity to demonstrate your abilities.
  11. Hey numbscull if Brock feels the club should compensate him with a higher salary which would offset the amount he bid in the DD, well then his contribution was worthless. Whats the point in making a DD contribution if you feel you should be recompensated with a higher contract or repaid when you leave the club. If thats the way Brock feels then his bet was made illegitimately.
  12. Thats good stuff, pleased to hear
  13. Robbo didnt seem overly concerned watching other players get shown the door over his career. No, he was happy enjoying his footy. The club invested 12 years into a young Robbo who no doubt obtained his position by some other player retiring. The club is not a charity, your time is up Robbo, time for the next youngster to go out there and give it his best. Players in the AFL have a short shelf-life,my advice for you is to pass the torch with some integrity and enjoy the memories.
  14. I resent this post. What do you mean "joke of a club"? Was melb or freo a joke in 2006 when playing eachother in the semi-finals. I remember everyone saying, watch out for the dees in 07, they're probably top 4. Was Port a joke when they were top of the ladder for 3 seasons in a row during 2002-04, won a grandfinal in 04 and avoided bottoming out by attending a grandfinal in 2007. I personally believe Richmond is the most poorly run club (hands down) And dont call other clubs a joke. When people say melb is a joke at work I feel like biffing them one because I love the dees.
  15. From all the footage I can find of Mora, it is hard to find him hitting a target by foot or even putting it to a players advantage. Most of the time he kicks too long or puts the defender at no disadvantage.
  16. Hell no. Jones is only 21, give the guy a break, he will be an absolute gun with a strong midfield supporting him. To all the fickle minded out there, Jones is only 21 and is still learning the game and how to beat the tag. How many other players on our squad have deserved a tag in the last 2 years?
  17. LOL this is the biggest crap I have heard in a long time. Pick10 (pfft) and Dawes (delistable) for Davey, who is a clear best and fairest this season, questionable all-australian and young enough to bit into our premiership window. But you cant blame them for trying, I have also heard much rubbish on this side of the fence when it comes trading.
  18. Any updates on the Blease injury situation? How is he progressing/recovering?
  19. Why has no one included Ron Barrassi??
  20. No need to be cynical, wasnt trying to define "X factor". I was giving my view on the attributes we should be looking for when drafting pick 2, which has a lot more logic than reading a article by someone which refers to Morabito as "Pavlich like". Having said this, if we recruit Mora, he will be better than Pavlich! :D
  21. My mum follows the Dees, dad follows the Pies. When me and my brother were born they flipped a coin each time to decide on which team he will support..and thus the endoctrination began. Same will happen with my future kids as my long standing partner agreed to the old coin flip (she barracks for the Dons). Being a demon is Fate not choice! :D
  22. Cant loosen up. Find it grotesque to think of man on man action. Besides, those you speak of are not men..they are machines..machines designed to play FOOTBALL!
  23. I dont want to hear about "X factor" this year for pick2, maybe for the later picks, but not pick2. Dont even mention the word! X factor spells moments of pure brilliance shrowded in inconsistency. I want polished skills, fundamentals and willingness to do the tough stuff. Unfortunately all too often people get caught up with haircuts and flashy goals during recuiting, like selecting a Dale Thomas/NicNat over a Murphy/Rich type player. Bailey was right in saying he wants kids that can kick the footy, because that is what the game is about. Judd and Ablett arnt the most flashy players in the comp but they get you premierships!
  24. Either this rumour is just hot air or Tommy must be one of the doubest blokes going around the AFL. Although some melbourne supporters feel he has "potential" all he has done is show that he has a chance of forging a career in the AFL He is playing in one of the worst sides (this year) in the AFL, where he will be given oppurtunities and has not yet come under the radar of young emerging talent. Tom needs to keep working hard and stay humble, otherwise he could be stacking shelves at Coles some time soon.
