  1. Agree Jimmy. Hard to comment as we don't know Harmes' game time but one would hope 65% at most with a short turnaround coming up...but, 35 disposals suggests he probably played more than that
  2. Getting TMac fit and ready is mostly to have a cover for injury, IMV. Would have to be flying on the track to dislodge someone but might be a handy in should we get a couple of injuries to talls (forward and/or back)

  7. But the counter argument is that the 'bigger' Vic clubs will pull a bigger crowd v Geelong at the MCG than the 'smaller' Vic clubs. E.g Collingwood/Essendon/Carlton/Richmond v Geelong at the MCG; will bring a bigger crowd than; Melbourne/Nth Melb/Western Bulldogs/St Kilda v Geelong at the MCG
  8. I agree OD, we need tall forwards to hit the score board in finals but I also think we probably only need 3-4 goals that way to be successful. Those goals could come from any combination of Brown, Weid, JVR, Gawn or Jackson. If we can get that I'd be confident we can find 8-10 from other avenues. 11 - 14 goals will be enough if we are at our best defensively
  9. Agree with many on here. I like the thought of experimenting with either Tomlinson or Petty forward and this is probably the week to do it under the roof at Marvel and against a side with a history of struggling defensively.

LH, agree lifting those guys out of Perth might be a challenge, but they don't need them all to shift. 1 or 2 will do the trick, $$$ talks as does loyalty (in respect to staying and leaving for shared benefit, where applicable - think Isaac Smith & maybe Dusty at the end of this year). Regarding interest, in my view, Barrass and/or McGovern to the Bulldogs would meaningfully reinsert them into premiership calculations (just one example...)
  11. WCE has a better pot of gold for us I feel, if LJ was to leave. LJ is young enough that the Eagles could afford to spend 3 - 5 years building around him. History tells us they've been a lot more efficient than that rebuilding teams in the past. If the eagles are realistic about rebuilding with honesty, they'd be looking to improve the draft positioning by offloading some players that may have value to other teams, thinking McGovern, Yeo, Darling, Sheed, Barrass, Gaff (for example). Packaging some of those guys could net them a bounty of picks, to add to the likely No. 1 they get this year and another top 5 pick next year.

  13. Agree. In fact it almost surely was. But i also take on face value that they've both manned up, admitted they've made major mistakes and have buried the hatchet. If you've read Max's diary from last year he spent quite a time describing the way the whole club has tried to lift the way they talk to eachother. With more respect and less denigration. He says its still not perfect but it's a lot better, and he referenced that in the press conference today. The whole club has matured, a lot, this is a setback no doubt, but also a teaching moment. Let's see what they do with it...

Need a better game plan and some pace through the middle will be competitive week in week out, at the very least.

  24. Saints second best in terms of coaches votes! It really is bizarre they'd let him walk. Definitely could've attracted something in return the Saints, maybe not from us, but from someone. Seems like very good fortune for the Dees
  25. Great pick up. Puts a stack of pressure on JJ and Sparrow to grow and secure their positions long term. The quality and commitment of the blokes picked 20-28 are what drives the quality of 16-22. If there's little pressure coming from underneath, e.g. players likely to steal your spot if you perform poorly players could become complacent. This was definitely a factor this year, Sparrow, JJ, LJ, Rivers, Spargo they just didn't want to lose their spots to Jones, Hibberd, Melksham, Jetta, Weideman etc.
