  1. Exactly. I had the same thought about 5 minutes ago and have contacted someone at the club and am waiting for a response. Wheres_jacka has pulled everyone's chain bigtime here.
  2. I'd just gotten my team to be capable of 2000+ scores, then had an absolutely horrid week. I think I had three starting midfielders who scored less than 50 points. It was only on the back of a good performance by a couple of my stars that I didn't get the bottom score of the round completely. The boys got a good old spray after the game!!
  3. No prob! I didn't want to have to check two threads for updates.
  4. Use the other press conference thread please.
  5. I don't have a link, but I can say I was utterly devastated by my first round loss against Jarka's Jokers, who had the bottom score after the 'pre-season'!
  6. Was Bassett ever on our senior list? I was under the impression he was on the supp list. I stand to be corrected there though. Bishop was traded. I don't know the full story, but if I had to guess I would say it was because we didn't really rate him. He turned out to be an honest player at best. I really doubt he would've made any difference to our fortunes whatsoever.
  7. Yep, Bartram has really struggled to date. He's still just a kid though, and he's just had a year out of the game, and has heaps of time to get his disposal up to scratch. What people often forget is that our core midfield group are a bunch of kids. I doubt there's another side in the league whose #1 and #2 midfielders are 21 and 19. I actually think that while stats generally don't give a good reflection, that list is a pretty good indication of who our best players have been. With the exception of Robbo, the top 10 in that list would all be in my top 10 players so far.
  8. I agree with pantaloons in regards to having a crack at Judd. It just makes you look silly. Definitely love the "Cartel Football Club" idea though. Funny stuff.
  9. Unless he resigns off his own bat, no.
  10. Moderators are entitled to opinions too. Rhino was an aggressive poster long before he was a moderator and will be long after he is no longer a moderator. There's plenty of other members on the forum with blunt posting styles. I don't hear you complaining about them. My advice? Get over it. It ain't changing.
  11. I'm "The Competition".
  12. Indeed, as it effectively puts him out of the race. I doubt they'd appoint an interim-interim captain while the interim captain serves his one week ban.
  13. I would've said Green too if he were in the leadership group. The players' cockup on this one is looking worse now. I'd like it to be Miller, though I think Bruce is the most likely candidate.
  14. Hurting and being passionate does not excuse their behaviour. I know how they feel too and have a great deal of sympathy for their position, but have zero sympathy for their response.
  15. I also understand that Bode is contracted for 08 and 09 as part of the promotion rules. It's why we were stuck with Warnock for this season.
  16. No, he went to Richmond and then the Bears _after_ Melbourne. He and Walls essentially swapped positions. I wouldn't have known if it was before us, because he was the MFC coach when I started following football and I remember his departure.
  17. Do you think it will have gotten through to the players? Do you think they would be out on the field going "yep, some 16 year old twerp has put up a big banner. I'm definitely going to try much harder now!" It defies logic that you could see this as constructive in any way. There's only two possible ways the players would react to this. The seasoned, thick skinned players would just dismiss it without giving it another thought. The more sensitive players might see it and want to ram it down the throat of the little shit who put it up. It's not that the players aren't trying, and it's utterly insulting to the players to suggest they're not. That's about the most simplistic view there is, and it's wrong. I doubt these kids were looking to "get through" to the players anyway. More likely they were just seeking attention. Well it worked.
  18. Whether supporters "accept" crap or not will make a single shred of difference as to how the team plays. Richmond supporters have never accepted anything their rubbish sides have dished up, and look where it has gotten them. Nowhere.
  19. There's nothing funny or truthful about this. It's not what being a supporter is about. It's not what being funny is about. It's what being an immature little turd is about.
  20. Exactly. You can't put those up with merged threads.
  21. In fairness to Northey, his next two clubs were Richmond and Brisbane, both utter basket cases on the field at the time.
  22. That's crap. Firstly, it's likely that Bailey didn't choose to have Bate in the Sandy twos and secondly, even if he did there was probably a very good reason, e.g. because there was doubts about his ability to run out a full game, in which case playing for the Sandy reserves is fairly standard practice.
  23. How are his team mates ever going to know where his kicks are going to go? I don't think even he knows a lot of the time. He just bombs it in the air with no real regard to where it might land. Any time it lands in the arms of one of our blokes is pot luck and nothing more. That goes for this year and last. At present it's the difference between him being an elite inside midfielder and not. Name me one other elite inside midfielder who just blazes the ball out of the middle when he gets it. I can't think of a single decent inside midfielder who can't handball well under pressure. It's the biggest weakness in Jones' game, but it's one that can be ironed out if he's willing. I don't think anyone around here would call for him to be traded at this point in their career. Not anyone with a clue, anyway. You only get to take route #2 if you've got decent senior players to build around. The senior blokes Hawthorn traded such as Hay and Thompson were hardly what I'd call top tier players. Brisbane had a number of elite players to build their list around such as Lappin, Black, Power, Bradshaw et al. Hawthorn had no such luxury. The only marquee player they had was Crawf (who's still there btw, by your logic he should've been traded). I'm afraid we're in route #1. That's why Travis Johnstone is no longer here.
  24. Yes that. Sorry. I have Pick 16 on the brain.
