  1. John Meesen? :D
  2. It's not an uncommon practice to do that. When you have two players you want, and want one more, to risk losing the one you want more to have a crack at getting both. There was a quote from CAC a while ago indicating that we did this when drafting Frawley ahead of Petterd. He rated Petterd higher, but thought that there was more chance of Petterd still being there at 30, so he took Frawley first. Something like that.
  3. I really doubt St. Kilda are going to accept two NQR's and a middle of the road draft pick for one of their best players, even if he is soft as butter. Forget about using Bell and Newton for any trades other than those pointless hack-for-hack trades that go on sometimes. They're not going to be part of any significant trade.
  4. O'Keefe could fly south next winter On the con side, he's 27 and probably won't be part of our next tilt, so it might be somewhat wasteful. I wouldn't bother going for him for that reason. On the pro side, he's a real Ryan O'Keefe type player.
  5. Precisely. For Brisbane delisting Copeland would've been about as difficult decision as us delisting Jeff White.
  6. Campbell's very much the "prospect" type. There's no guarantees he'll make it yet, but from what I gather he has the body and work ethic. He needs for it to all come together and he'll be a good forward, but so far it hasn't happened. A risk. Given our woeful forwardline, I'd take him. Do not want Tenace. Reasons already well and truly covered in this thread. I think the very last thing in the world we need is another bloke who can't kick. The idea of Bentley doesn't really excite me either. Haven't seen a lot of him at all, but I really hate the idea of our club trading in NQRs from other teams in the bottom half of the ladder, to fill a position that could be filled with any dime-a-dozen player in the ND. He's not going to be a damaging midfielder and he's definitely not a KPF, so what "problem" is solved by bringing him on? Just seems like a waste of time and a waste of a list spot to me. I'd consider trading in Wojcinski if he was on the market. I think he's just the victim of the great side he's a part of at the moment. Would slot straight in to our 22. That said, you could probably apply my "can't kick" rule on him as well.
  7. Since his retirement I've done my best to erase his last three years from my memory. Before that he was one of my favourite players and a delight to watch. Reckon there'll be an ammo club somewhere around next year with a gun new player on their hands too. Is his brother still kicking around?
  8. Sorry, no. I know it's annoying having to flick through a king-sized thread which is mostly full of toss (I do the same thing as you), but the alternative is having the one forum filled with 100 Warnock threads, which IMO is no better. One alternative is to have a "Trade News" sticky thread that with no conversation, like the Hatch Match & Dispatch thread if anyone can be bothered maintaining it.
  9. Dunno about that. It is Sydney after all. Let's not forget they coughed up a first rounder (16?) for Darren Jolly. That said, pick 11 for White and Bruce would be a dream come true. I doubt it'll happen. I doubt Jeff will be involved in any trades at all, given that clubs will know he is gone, so they can just wait until draft day to get him for free.
  10. I shared Rhino's opinion that we had the list and the ability to win the flag in 2007. History shows us that we quite obviously did not. I was wrong there. Is there something wrong with that? That said, I doubt there has ever been a team that was as torn apart by injuries as our side was in 2007. It's not an excuse, it's just the way it was.
  11. Still absolutely pumped with this pick. Showed pretty much everything we couldhope for in his first year. Can't wait to see how he fills out and how he improves with confidence. Made our pathetic side worth watching this year. To summarise:

    Can't find

Banned means banned. It doesn't mean you can reregister again and all will be sweet. Bye.
  13. TBH I'm not that fussed about missing out on him. He's obviously gone for the cash and good luck to him. I'd do the same. What does really piss me off though is that it's Carlton yet again. I really hate those turdburgers.
  14. Because I was more likely to get a game as first ruck here?

  16. Looks like my house :D
  17. That isn't an ace, it's more like an 7 of diamonds. It fits nicely into a straight, but on its own it's pretty worthless. Especially if paired with Rhino's 2 of clubs... Cards analogies aside, having Matt Warnock would just be the cherry on top if he's already decided he wants to come to us. It won't be a deal breaker. If we've got nothing else he wants it will have no pull whatsoever.

  19. Except in Deelicious9's case, he most likely does know.
  20. I think a more realistic assessment would be that he arrived at the club already at his best game and hasn't gotten any better. I don't think he's gotten worse than when he arrived at the club. People are just assessing his game as a third year player now rather than as a first.
  21. Cool, really looking forward to Barry's repo.... oh wait, no Dees players playing. For me, Sandy now go straight back in to the "who gives a toss" pile, right where they were before the alliance.
  22. Who says the players will be voting for a leadership group again? Given that the coaching staff changed the leadership group by the end of the year (Moloney, Rivers, Davey, Green in, Robertson, Yze, Neitz out), I reckon that this year's leadership group will just carry through. Green Bruce McDonald Moloney Rivers Davey McLean Miller To follow the herd, my C/VC/DVC model: C: Green VC: McLean DVC: Miller
  23. The above quoted post gets my nomination for the Demonland Worst Post of the Year.

  25. Just goes to show that winning a flag doesn't necessarily make you an elite player. Armstrong was one of a few plodders on the WCE list found out this year once the cream had been scooped off the top.
