  1. If him being delisted before the season's even over doesn't ring very loud alarm bells, then I'm afraid nothing will.
  2. Bode's definitely out of contract this year. Meesen is on three. PJ? Unless it's a different P.Johnson on the bench.
  3. Of those, the only one I believe to be of any relevance at all is Thorp as I thought we might be a chance to land him. Renouf is of no consequence to me. He's their third ruckman, big whoop. The others were never any chance of going anywhere.
  4. My understanding is that there's a cutoff point during the year for promoting rookies, so Spencer's out, and Meesen... well, less said the better at this point. I guess the answer is Jamar rucks on his own.
  5. Building for a premiership requires cash and resources. Bringing in Brown is one way to help achieve that.
  6. I think there comes a point that if you're far enough up the creek, you'd do absolutely anything you could to alleviate the problem.
  7. I'm not sure I strictly do. On the field I believe getting Brown would be a waste as our premiership window isn't open, but off the field he's the sort of person who can attract sponsorship and therefore the corporate $ -- something we're desperately in need right now. It would be a short term fix, but not in the traditional sense. It's a question of weighing up the on field requirements vs the off. In our case that's more critical than it would be for other clubs. If his terms were good and we had the resources available, AND he became available in the PSD (essentially, we get him for free), I doubt the club would say no.
  8. I think some people are having a little trouble grappling the meaning of "hypothetical".
  9. Carroll is contracted for '09 and stunningly, Meesen is contracted for '09 and '10.
  10. You said we didn't have a single forward target, but that we should bomb it to the top of the square.... Umm? I don't by any means support the style of chipping it around, especially in the wet, but when you've got absolutely no targets, what's the alternative? The kick by Bruce to a team mate flanked by the opposition was a poor option and he should rightfully be grilled for it, but I don't see how it's any worse an option than bombing it to nobody in the goalsquare. I'd love to watch the replay again and count how many times a Geelong backman took an uncontested mark in the square btw. It was more than a few.
  11. I agree that White was utterly crap, but I don't think there was any signs of him not caring. That's extremely insulting to him IMO.
  12. Which tall forwards were waiting there to take the grab?
  13. Completely agree Pringle. Sylvia is just this year's whipping boy in my opinion. I don't often go out on a limb for players who have been in the system for 5 years and not really "turned it on", but I still believe a lot of people will have some humble pie to eat regarding Sylvia over the next few years.
  14. 6. Valenti 5. Whelan 4. Bruce ------------ Effort votes: 3. Maric 2. Martin 1. Bartram
  15. Agree with that. IMO Jamar currently has the "#1 ruck" mantle by default.
  16. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Bazza a Sandy man (hence "Beach Road")?
  17. Rushed? :D Congrats KrazyJay. Looks like your club does need all of the help it can get. That last score posted is a 437 point drubbing.
  18. It may well be that I wear my red and blue coloured glasses while watching the footy, but I've never seen Green do that. Personally, I find it an annoying and frustrating tactic regardless of which team is employing it.
  19. What she said.
  20. My understanding is that in terms of actual merchandising revenue, they don't get any more as merchandising is controlled by the AFL, but the profit margins go in to the club's coffers (rather than in to the coffers of K-mart or whoever else). I could be wrong about the specifics of how that works, but either way, buying merchandise from the MCG shop is definitely better for the club than buying it from anywhere else.
  21. Likewise :D :D
  22. The point is that he's missed a few targets that he was nailing at the start of the year. You don't just go backwards over night. It would seem then that his kicking is fine, but his confidence has taken a hit. Yes it's cliche to blame poor form on confidence, but the evidence speaks for itself in Morton's case. He's getting a tonne of the ball now and is looking really dangerous. My mouth's watering.
  23. I agree with that. From where I was sitting it didn't look as if he did a lot wrong. It's easy to forget that Lloyd is a champion of the game, and for mine he was completely unstoppable on the day.
  24. Was at my one and only game for the year. Pity we lost. My votes: 6. Bate 5. Morton 4. Sylvia (a couple of inexcusable mistakes stopped him from being 6 in my eyes) 3. Valenti 2. Buckley 1. (Raffle) Garland.
