  1. How amazeballs is it that even when missing a couple of key players, the 4th side is way better than the 15th side? You could tickle me pink, how much that fact surprises me! The lack of perspective on here is... well, at its usual levels, I guess.
  2. What a frustration we are at times. Would love to see the "opposition goals from errors" stats from this year and how much it accounts for the scores.
  3. Outstanding contest Pedersen; man handled, keeps his feet, give off to Kent who finishes nicely. Equal credit to both boys for that goal for mine.
  4. Melbourne vs Freo. You? I dunno. I like contested footy. The lads are tackling and contesting. I would agree that a goal or three would've been nice though.
  5. Are you trying to give dee-luded's recent record of consecutive posts a shake, macintosha? At least he was actually responding to other posts rather than replying to himself. (5 posts merged)
  6. Yes, clearly, otherwise he'd have been omitted on those numbers weeks ago. "Which intangibles?" is the million dollar question...
  7. MFC play on the same day as Casey, so I'd say it's just being prudent and taking one of the emergencies along rather than any sign of a late change.
  8. Roos is showing immense belief in Salem, considering his disposal count for the last two games have been 7, 4 (subbed on), 2 (subbed off) and 8, and has only gained more than 10 on one occasion. Would love to be a fly on the wall during team selection - Salem doesn't look to be in AFL form to me.
  9. Think of it as a "F-off WA clubs" premium. I'm more than comfortable with it.
  10. I would love to have read one of the reviews the week Magner got 50 possessions and still didn't get picked for Melbourne. I was no Magner fan, but I was incredulous that week.
  11. Hogan. None of our midfielders scream "star" to me.
  12. You will note that there are only 5 players there. Therein lies the problem. The other part is that two of the five are pups and haven't developed consistent performances yet. We have a midfield nucleus of 3 players, one of whom is 31 years old. Our midfield still stinks.
  13. Who cares how much he's paid anyway? Still amazes me that supporters get hung up on what a player gets paid.
  14. 10 posts in a row, dee-luded. Wow. I'm impressed - or concerned, not sure which. I've merged them all in to one mega-post, for everyone's enjoyment.
  15. There's absolutely no doubt the first half was diabolical. It was. Roos even used that word himself. What annoys me is one half was diabolical, the second half was OK (the coach said 'good' - but I'll stick with 'OK') - and in some people's mind, that averages out to diabolical. In case I haven't made it apparent, I get very frustrated with people who seem to default to looking at things from the worst possible angle.
  16. Evans was given a two year contract last year during a period where he was showing promise. Two year contracts are standard and he clearly wasn't a "delist" priority at that stage (and we delisted a shirtload of players as it was). It's frustrating when you find yourself stuck with players who appear to be no good, but at the time I took no issue with his re-signing (and indeed, was pleased with it), so I'll pass on the Harry Hindsight analysis of it now. And as rpfc said, who's to say he won't pluck a rabbit out of the hat like a few of the other NQRs of yesteryear?
  17. Bub, I think a simple "thanks, sorry, see you later" for Blease, Tapscott, Strauss, Byrnes et al would suffice. With that little rant, it would seem that you wouldn't be satisfied unless they were hung, drawn and quartered and had their bodies paraded around the club for all to see. And funnily enough, we'd get the same result: 4-6 less players on the list. If you reckon there's any chance of 15-16 players being "culled", which you also seem to be alluding to, then I'm afraid this discussion is over as I will not argue with someone not operating inside the bounds of basic sensibility.
  18. Going from memory as it was 12 hours ago that I watched it, but I thought it was a question about the umpiring. It sounded as if the journo was goading Roos in to saying something that might have resulted in a fine and Roos' comment was tongue in cheek. Edit: I listened again, it was "what did you think of that deliberate rushed behind in the second quarter?"
  19. It's not the concept of removing players I object to, it's the slobbering, blood thirsty attitude some people have to delisting players. We need to continue to steadily improve our list through turning it over and internal improvement. We do not need to "cull" players as if they are some out of control pest destroying our crops. Our number of delistings won't be any larger than most other clubs, or any larger than our own in the last few years.
  20. I don't get the feeling Michie is likely to get a game ahead of Riley. Just going purely off the Allison reports, and again without having seen this week's.
  21. Alternatively, we could just delist the players who aren't making the grade, the same as every other year.
  22. We've come a long, long way when a 6 point loss can be described as "diabolical".
