  1. The first few at least and was moved forward a few times to no effect.
  2. No credit to the Silvagni family for name creativity though. Jack, Tom and Ben. Wow.
  3. I have to do that sometimes (shift work) - there's no way I'd still be up at 9:30 the next night and I reckon I'd have collapsed in a heap on the first sip of beer if I was mad enough to try that. Go to bed, man!
  4. It's not half empty, it's that the water is still running and we're not sure how full the glass will be when it shuts off...
  5. Got to feel for Tapscott. Who knows if he'd have made it, but the injuries surely haven't helped. It would be very frustrating watching your career slip away and your body won't let you do anything about it.
  6. I prefer the "recognising that it is too simple and grossly unfair to make cultural assumptions about a person because they're aboriginal" brigade myself. Arrow compared Garlett to Jurrah, ffs. If it's "PC" to recognise that the situations don't even come close to being related, then fine, I'm PC as, bro.
  7. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Garlett from the remote, small, distant community of Perth?
  8. I've only been to Etihad for non-Melbourne games, and usually busy ones, and I've always pretty much just walked up to a window, bought a ticket and walked in. It it only MFC games where there are long queues to get in?
  9. I used to think that way too, but recent experience has beaten it out of me. Freo may have gotten lucky with Barlow and Hawthorn the same with Mitchell, but recent second tier comp players I recall us taking in recent years have been Shane Valenti, James Magner, Dean Terlich. Matt Jones and Alex Georgiou. I expect the real gems hiding in there are absolutely few and far between.
  10. ...on Tex, I think it's a good thing for our game to see him sign on so early amid the speculation. Given the (right or wrong) perception of big name players taking the money and running, it's nice to see the balance tip in the other direction a little bit.
  11. You people would have passed on McCartin purely because Tex *might* have been available as a FA next year? Right.
  12. Yep. I'm looking forward to seeing how Lever's career pans out whether we take him or not. A gun defender, who missed his main year of junior footy and thinks he'll have to step up in to the midfield to make it is a fascinating prospect.
  13. If this were me, I'd realise it was a lame concept the minute I had to include players who weren't #1 draft picks to make up numbers. Why Jack Martin and not Jesse Hogan? Or maybe even Matthew Lloyd as a 16 year old pick? Silly. On a side note, we reckon we got lucky by getting Jesse Hogan for the loss of Tom Scully - how about getting Matthew Lloyd for the loss of Todd Ridley? The bummers must still be laughing about that two decades later.
  14. I agree, and it's why I think this will take some time for this to settle. This is currently our most sensitive and important contract, it's unreasonable to expect it to be sorted in short order.
  15. You could, but it would be a dumb argument. Like any employer, footy clubs are well within their right to choose their employees by skill sets relevant to the job.
  16. It's obviously a point too difficult for people to grasp.
  17. It's not. It's us considering it and finding out whether there's any point in continuing to consider it. Considering it isn't agreeing to it.
  18. Nah. GWS: We offer you pick 7 for Jeremy Howe. MFC: Hmm. We'd better see what he thinks about that. Hey Jeremy's manager, would Jeremy consider a move to GWS? Manager: I'll ask. Hey Jeremy, how would you feel about a move to GWS? Howe: Yeah, nah. Manager: He said, "yeah, nah." MFC: Sorry, not happening. And next time, maybe come to us a little bit sooner so everyone's actually got time to think this through?
  19. The bit where you can't understand why people might not want to be on a stage, or have the absolute crap battered out of their body while being a long way from home. You have an amazingly narrow view of the world. I know this may come as a shock C & B, but not everyone shares your dream or obvious envy of AFL footballers.
  20. Is their annual report out yet? You could prove or disprove that pretty quickly if so. If their financial losses are due to being hammered by their parent company, you wouldn't think that's all that big a deal considering the parent company could probably easily reverse the situation. Wouldn't think there's all that much for anyone to worry about so long as the SANFL is doing okay.
  21. Does that make sense? How do you listen to what the club has to offer if you "put off contract talks"?
  22. I love how suddenly we're all an expert on what "character" blokes in their early 20s should show when they've just been told the dream is over.
  23. $2mil in debt is SFA. I'm $500k in debt all on my own, but my life is pretty comfortable. WYL showing he doesn't understand the difference between debt and an operating loss, and not for the first frustrating time.
  24. It's an awful position to be in, I don't envy him at all. This is clearly the best outcome for the MFC and the one I pushed for, nonetheless I take no pleasure in it as others have.
  25. Farmer and Viney for me - both by a nose. I feel a bit guilty voting in these as for most of them, my youth and relatively late coming to footy means my memory only goes as far back as the mid 90s. I'm probably contributing to some injustice for some of those legends from the 80s and earlier.
