  1. The frustrating thing is it was always going to wind people up, and for what? At best, a few chuckles. I'm not at all offended, just frustrated by the lack of judgement.
  2. In software terms, we'd just call it a bug. Your 'counter' should dynamically update itself as your list grows.
  3. I'm presuming this is why you're a solicitor and not a mathematician, W_J.
  4. I think several clubs, including the MFC, aren't paying 100% of the TPP because they don't have enough good players to need to. Don't know what your knowledge of finance or accounting is like VB, but it's not usually about how much cash the club has physically sitting in the bank account or whatever (hopefully we're okay there or there are much bigger problems!) The club will have a budget to pay its players, which will hopefully be up to 100% of the salary cap - at the very least, it'll be higher than what they're projecting to pay to accomodate 'contingencies'. The additional cost added is not the cost of paying out Evans (sunk cost - he is already included in the budget), it's the cost of whatever player we recruit that goes outside our projected costs - and if it's someone like Anthony or Newton, that's not going to be a very large sum. Honestly I'd expect the cost of delisting a contracted player such as Evans to be absorbed in to the existing budget, but even if it's not, it would not be outside the budget by a huge amount and it should be an amount the club can comfortably handle paying. (I know we have a few accountants on the forum, of which I'm not one, so someone please tell me if I've spoken a load of garbage up there) I'd like to see your evidence that the MFC was "damn near insolvent" before the DD campaign.
  5. It might turn the miniscule profit in to a miniscule loss. Let the bean counters work out the logistics. If the footy department can't make the right list management decisions because of budgetry constraints then we may as well fold now.
  6. I don't think they'd send him to the PSD on principle, it's just pure trade economics. The sort of deal many on here wanted would have been absolutely no value to GWS. Their bargaining position was St Kilda's interest combined with #1 PSD pick - they had no incentive whatsoever to accept any garbage from us. Pick 23 was the only thing we had of value to them, and they gave back the next two picks they had available. Frost was the man we wanted and this trade, as far as I can see was the only avenue available to us to get him.
  7. Who would have thought that team Viney/Mahoney/Taylor might have known what they were doing eh Redleg? I was pretty comfortable with the logic at the time and this just confirms it.
  8. Only far less good. I'd say no.
  9. They'd be all over it dazz. Don't create work for them by sending them emails.
  10. Now that film clip is production genius. Who needs Katy Perry like Hollywood productions when you could just put up three of your facebook photos in a slideshow with various zooming in and out, blurring and overlaying of the text "Let's be Friends"?
  11. tgrpfc is going to be upset that you stole his thread.
  12. Welcome back, we were starting to worry. You didn't need to create a new account though, you can change the name on your old one!
  13. Is that really the subject of this debate? I haven't seen too many in this thread defend his coaching record, just defending him as a human being with a lot of undeserved poo being flung in his direction. If he'd had the misfortune of coaching Richmond instead of Melbourne that would probably have happened literally. I think you can be bitterly disappointed with how things turned out under his tenure without talking about the man as if he is scum of the earth. Edit: Sorry, thread reading fail - didn't see that Nutbean had basically already covered these points.
  14. That's the wrong lesson to learn I reckon Jim. There is plenty of examples of clubs taking the skinny frame early and getting it right. Freo with Stephen Hill comes to mind straight away.
  15. Would just like to put it out there that it was not me. I'm not sure why we're even in the practice of changing perfectly good thread titles. We have a pedantic bugger in our midst. But I have fixed it.
  16. Yep, Energy Watch was a disaster, and one Schwab should be held accountable for. Still not seeing the link to Trengove's foot.
  17. I agree that it sucks that he seems to have played injured. It's just the absurd leap from that to blaming Schwab that I challenge. I'm not sure why I'm persisting with this discussion to be honest. I'm clearly a very slow learner.
  18. Honestly, if you believe Schwab picked the team you'll believe literally anything. As has already been said, there's enough genuine stuff for us to blame Schwab for without resorting to complete and utter fiction.
  19. Come on, you've been around long enough to know that it's more important for one to be able to brag that they were right than it is to get the best outcome for the MFC.
  20. Well, it's gone down as something. Zero points to all of you. None of you predicted that 3 of our top 4 would be gone by the end of 2014, with the fourth suffering a career threatening injury, nor did anyone reckon Max Gawn would be the best player out of the six players we took. I think I'm going to chuck. Edit: and dazz, you are a sadistic bastard for bumping this thread.
  21. You reckon? Huge chance the news got it from here. Typical case of us feeding our own rumour back to ourselves.
  22. I'm way, way beyond pretending I know whether or not support staff are good appointments or not. I thought Chris Connolly and Neil Craig would be great appointments who would surely help our rookie coaches stay on the right path. Good luck to McCartney all the same.
  23. I doubt recruiters are ignoring whether the guys can play or not. Morton looked absolute gun as an underage player.
  24. I thought the game was to name players with the same surname who weren't related. Sorry for not picking up on the unadvertised rule change.
