  1. Thanks GT Grimes - great little interview Love the Ox - really interesting story and he seems like a good bloke. I think the club needs all the help it can get - unsure what Ox would do though
  2. Poor Neeldy can't even get compared to coaches who were hired when he was How about comparing him to Sanderson or McCartney? Ask Sando how year 2 is gong so far?
  3. Yawn Isn't there a Moloney thread already?
  4. Bit harsh on 2 fronts - while I agree with your analysis of T Mac against the lions you do forget, He was one of the shining lights in 2012, and he didn't play many if any pre-season games so I'd assume he's out of form at the moment. And on Sunday was beaten for height by Luenburger. I am not sure we had anyone to play on him ( a ruck or someone had to drop back) Defensively I was very disappointed with Sunday If T Mac's forms keeps up for the remained of 2013 I'll agree with you 100% - but i don't think he should be in the team on current form.
  5. Agree with what you say lads, I think Jackson is pretty qualified for the task though - I don't know if he has the time required to achieve anything (you could be right daisycutter) I just hope for some good to come form all of this and the right people can be installed or left to do their jobs properly PS - is the appointment limited to 6 months or is it just a six months contract? You'd think it would be extended if necessary?
  6. Some would also argue Knights laid the foundations for Dank and hird's current list as well - I do agree though Jumbo, Knights was a good reason to laugh at Essenscum for those two years Jackson is a pretty good choice for intrim CEO IMO Maybe you can enlighten me why he isn't Jumbo PS: even look at that situation - look how long it's taken Hird to turn Essenscum into a real contender - if Neeld is our Knights then we are still at least 3 years away from any sort of real success.
  7. Whats the point of hiring him then?? What do you know about what can be achieved in 6 months? I guess I expected too much from a CEO - Silly me assuming that they'd use their expertise to analyse the club;s position, evalute preformance and make recommendations i think you need to read up on who Peter Jackson is, what he does for a living and who his connections are
  8. even if this statement is true......... You'll need to sack the whole FD as the players can't only choose not to play for the coach, the whole FD is included Do you purpose an intrim FD as well?? Are you telling me Craig and Mission and co are poor coaches?? That statement is pretty [censored] poor TBH - I think i'd argue about ability and AFL experience of the player before not playing for the coach
  9. You are correct in a lot of what you say Soxy and I agree - I hate us being a laughing stock - My argument is, I want to know any decision made by the club is fully informed and the best decision and not reactional - ie Sacking Neeld now, finding a replacement etc etc Read post 893 - I hope that explains my position - I am happy if Neeld is stepped down for the right reasons I don't doubt we all want the MFC to be successful again - I am hoping someone can step in and make the right decisions. Neeld promises professionalim and better footy standards (who are we to say he is not delivering at the moment???) And yes I know our recent results - but is this a true refleciton of the progress or failure?? If Jackson says yes I am happy to agree, but I dont agree with trial by opinion
  10. I'll try clarify what I said as I don't know for sure what is happening I think the AFL is worried about the MFC - Jackson is an AFL HQ man - all i've done is put 1 and 1 together I realise the CEO is appointed by the board - the CEO is responisble for the management of the club on and off field, sets standards et etc. There has already been a review done by............ (someone will know the report, Andrews or soemthing????) not sure but it was done by CS and never released... I think that will be Jackson's first point of call. I don't think there is anywhere for anyone to hide or be on good behaviour We don't know what the FD KPI's are for 2013 - but I am hoping Jackson can step in and shake the place up a little I guess my point is when Jackson steps in he can make an informed decision who is to blame for the MFC's recent preformance and make recommendations to the Board and AFL if required I woudln't at all be supried with a few changes - and if it is Neeld so be it, but I don't and won't put all the blame on Neeld until a proper review is done
  11. Just to add I sincerly hope 2 things are happening at the MFC 1. The board is in constant discussion with the FD to keep the FD accountable (and they are fully aware of what Neeld & co are trying to acheive) 2. When the new CEO starts (Jackson) he reviews the whole operations of the MFC and makes recommendations to the AFL to fix the board and the FD In the mean time I think Neeld should be coaching until this full review is done
  12. You lost me at appoint Craig 2 reasons - You haven't done any reasearch outherwise you'd know Craig dosen't want to be a senior coach & Craig is currently in the same FD as Neeld - what makes you think anything would change by sacking Neeld and appointing Craig? Sorry mate love the passion but your argument lacks a lot of credibility....This club is on a long long rebuild there will be no quick fixes IMO and sacking Neeld now does not gaurentee quick improvement
  13. I haven't got a lot to add but agree with OP Wouldn't have either in the side at the moment - both poor disposal and T Mac is way out of form We have too many slow one dimensional mids - if McKenzie can't stop the most damaging oppositoin player he shouldn't be in the team
  14. If what you guys are alluding to is true then this would be the second time in (2 or 3 years) the playing group 'has not played for the coach' - I've assumed I understand what you are saying So if Neeld was employed to fix the culture of the MFC post Bailey (who had the same problem) - then why would you fire him before he has had a chance to do what he was hired for? Which is clean out the rabble and fix the culture So for mine if what you are saying is true - and I am only assuming it is based on what you've said then it stinks of hypocrisy - fire a bloke who's been employed to do a job over 3 years, but hasn't in 1 year so we'll fire him anyway Smells to me - this club smells bad
  15. Agreed R&B4life I think it is pretty obvious to everyone we have the worst and laziest (worst defensive) midfield in the AFL. The question is how long does Neeld have to fix this? What is an acceptable time frame?
  16. Ivor - the debate for me on this thread is not team performance..... We all know the team is struggling no one is arguing the team is not What we arguing is that how long do we give Neeld to fix this.... I am on the end of year bandwagon - the club shouldn't make rushed decisions. A caretaker should only be installed when and if the players verbally reject Neeld - which hasn't happened yet.
  17. Good post..... A lot of jumping the gun on this thread with little facts taken in to account Am pretty disappointed with our mid-field though - very frustrating. Next two weeks are very important for Neeld
  18. Lets hope we make the Lions pay now, they don't look great, we need to make some better decisions going forward Hold it up if you have to ffs - use sensible options, our boys seem to try create miricales sometimes
  19. Agree Stuie - dosen't look like it is working at all - need to be more accountable Poor turnovers don't help though - need to be smart with the ball not just bomb long all the time - use the runners if available
  20. Some pretty poor comments on this thread at the moment Boys need to win some clearances though - playing ok hope they can keep it up I must admit I am not a fan currently of the our defensive zone - seems to be easily beaten
  21. Spot on mate - Add big Maxie Gawn, Terlich and my boy Jetta to the mix (i really hope the jet can find some consistency and love his attack on the ball) and hopefully Evan and a few others keep developing Sadly we are not praising too many senior players - I am really interested to see how Sylvia plays this weekend - i am starting the genuinely get excited about watching him play. And here's also hoping Garland and the back six find some confidence
  22. It is a good debate - and i think there are some detailed factors to why it looks like Bailey's defence was better then Neelds - But I feel Bailey couldn't implement a press or break it - which is modern football today. Neeld at the moment is only doing slightly better but they are different circumstances.... Mate - there are some reasons to be positive - but if we get smashed by Brisbane this weekend I may jump ship
  23. Yep, it is depressing, especially the Port situation. But you do need to consider the circumstances around why teams are under-preforming - and I think Port had the talent but they weren't coached well where we need to develop the talent as we're starting from a low base. I mean we did ok under Bailey for a year - but c'mon short memories ppl. We only ever beat teh tigers (who were poor) or Essendon or an interstate team travelling to the G. We got flogged a lot under Bailey and we were easily picked apart by good teams. Purely offsensive game plan with no Plan B.. I just think there is no easy answer to this current situation, sacking the coach will not magically make the team better - as [censored] poor as it sounds maybe we have to bight the bullet and take the hard road and stop looking for 'White knights; and easy options.... Thats just my opinion, i think this club as a whole looks for the easy option too often. We need to develop consistent preforming AFL players who preform week to week, year to year We've got some good bigs now Stuie - now we need a midfiled and I hear they can be established quickly - so here is hope Neeld and the MFC can turn this around!!! But I will restate - if Neeld can't keep the team competitive then we are all buggered
  24. I see your point but maybe there is too much blame and not enough hard work - the new FD has only been in place 1 season (all be it 2 pre seasons) How long does the blame game go on? For example - a new coach comes in say round 10 - we put up with more crap until '14 - then he needs to develop the team in his mould so that could mean the whole season of 2014 is wasted and if he fails in 14/15 do we get a new coach again??? That strategy for me lacks integrity and professionalism for the sake of giving hope to supporters.... and that's why I won't back sacking Neeld until 14 (or his position is un sustainable)
  25. Nothing wrong with that opinion mate...... Preformance is a real worry through the first 4 weeks of this season, no argument there. At this stage I am willing to look on the brigh side and hope that the playing group are still a work in progress. Afterall with 14 inclusions and up to 7 - 10 new faces in the senior team it is going to take some time to gel - and young blokes need time to develop to AFL standard coupled with our lack of senior talent who don't preform to AFL standard week to week But I agree if the poor preformance keep up and Neeld can't get the team competitive he will be in big trouble. I guess the counter argument to that is how long does a coach need to install a new culture and plan? But ultimetly if Neeld can't get the team to be competitive he will go The real problem at the MFC that no one has really touched on and again there is no easy answer is why hasn't the MFC from as far back as the 90's - why have we never had a consistent preforming team from week to week - year to year??? This is where I hope Neeld can step up the professionalism - but again I go back to your argument - if he can't get the team competitive he will lose his job
