  1. An interesting article here regarding Christian Petracca's chances of winning the 2023 Brownlow Medal. For those interested, the link to the article by Damian Barrett can be found here: https://www.afl.com.au/news/968337/barrett-cruel-twist-that-has-star-melbourne-demon-christian-petracca-on-track-for-brownlow-medal I definitely think that Christian Petracca is a smoky to win it. That is the one silver lining of Clayton Oliver being out injured, I guess. Although I would prefer them to steal Brownlow votes from eachother. However, realistically, the Magpies Nick Daicos is probably the clear favourite for the Brownlow. Nevertheless, I am sure Christian and the rest of us here would prefer he wins another Premiership Medallion and a Norm Smith Medal with the Melbourne Football Club.
  2. I thought Taj played well against the Saints. The new "Woey" was smooth with the ball. No fumbling that I recall. Did a clever kick to the top of the goal square that resulted in a fluke goal for the Demons by Ed Langdon. Shame he didn't kick that goal! When he had a chance later in the game. Hopefully he kicks a goal (or two!) against the Lions this week. Well done SOW (Son Of Woewodin)! 😁
  3. We should get to 65,000 Melbourne Demons members. Getting to 66,000+ might be a struggle. Cost of living hasn't helped. Memberships are expensive! I think unfortunately 70,000-75,000 members is beyond us unless we win another AFL Premiership or two. Sustained success = membership growth!
  4. Kozzie is such a freakish player. He could end up kicking 6 goals against Brisbane this week, you just never know. However, his recent form has been disappointing. I would give him more midfield minutes just so he touches the ball more. His creativity is quite brilliant. Anyway, I don't see any other small forwards really banging down the selector's door to replace Kozzie just yet. Hopefully, Kozzie plays well on Friday night against the Lions.
  5. I have got another 50 years in me at least. But that may even not be enough time to get a Home Base! 😅😆😂🤣 I think I gotta win about $150 million in the lottery to get it done. 🤞 In all honesty the Melbourne Football Club should have set up a new Home Base fund after we won the AFL Premiership in 2021. We would of all been quite generous and in good spirits plus it would of been a great initiative to at least get the ball rolling with finances required. Anyway, it was good to see that the aquatics centre is getting built down at Casey Fields in that video shown previously. That is actually some progress at least! Albeit not exactly what we want when it comes to an actual Home Base. A positive for Casey though!
  6. All good. 😎👍🏻 I greatly appreciate the explanation. I wasn't familiar with the process of acknowledging milestone games.
  7. Luke Darcy's blatant bias towards St. Kilda on Saturday night was odious. Even though he is a Bulldogs man. But in the end, I don't care too much as Melbourne got the win. I think the issue is besides Garry Lyon, we don't really have many TV commentators who are Melbourne aligned. I have faith in the new online generation of commentators though. Particularly this guy (shown below) by the name of Caden MacDonald who is a passionate Demons supporter and is starting to develop a bit of a following on YouTube. https://youtu.be/Qcx6NxyNfI0 Good luck to the young fella! 😎👍🏻
  8. Jake Melksham 100+1 MFC games this week on the banner? Apparently it was his 100th game against St. Kilda. But we all forgot! 😔
  9. Hello all, Just thought it is important to celebrate Christian Salem playing 150 games for the Melbourne Football Club on Saturday night. He really has been a stalwart and excellent player for the Demons. His sublime kicking skills and hardness at the ball being a factor. Congratulations to Christian Salem playing 150 games. Let's hope he plays another 150 more games! Fingers crossed the Demons get a win against the Saints for "Salo"! 🤞
  10. Hopefully Kalani wishes to be a Demon like his Dad. Jeff White was always an exciting player to watch with his huge leaping. It would be a fantastic story if he joined us under the Father-Son Rule. Kalani learning under Max Gawn and Brodie Grundy would also be very appealing. Will be interesting if he ends up growing taller than his Dad too? Anyway, I wish him and his younger brothers all the best with their football journey.
  11. Garry Lyon hit the nail on the head with his analysis. Really spot on with what he identified. I am actually glad that Garry Lyon did it! Hopefully this is addressed during match review this week between the Demons coaching staff and players. I also hope they look to possibly play Bowey or even Salem half forward to assist with our connection into the forward line.
  12. Agreed! Besides Salem, Bowey and Hunter the rest are "hit and miss" as they say. Any players drafted or traded to the Demons must be excellent kicks and decision makers.
  13. We definitely need more classy midfielders that are excellent kicks. Lachie Hunter has helped. But we need more great kicks and great decision makers. Connection into the forward line is still a lingering issue for our team and needs to be resolved. If you cannot hit a leading player "lace out" on the chest with a kick then you probably shouldn't be playing AFL to be brutally honest. Look at the fantastic kicks they have at Collingwood and Port Adelaide? This should be a non-negotiable at the Melbourne Football Club too. Anyway, I have faith in Jason Taylor and the Demons recruiting team.
  14. The Demons desperately need a win against the Saints. Hopefully our rucking dynamic duo of Gawn and Grundy can fire like we did in the Pre-Season game down at Moorabbin against the Saints and they both kick 3 or 4 goals each. No excuses for inaccuracy against St. Kilda at Docklands Stadium either. Get the job done Demons!
  15. It would be nice for another team to take on this ignominious record of 190+ points in an AFL game. Imagine the Eagles losing by 200 points! I reckon any loss by over 150+ points will see Adam Simpson sacked. Eagles supporters won't tolerate another humiliating loss.
  16. I stated a few months ago that I would be patient about this issue of a Home Base for the Melbourne Football Club. However, I am starting to side more with the option of using the Caulfield Race Course as a more plausible option. Mainly because of the frustrating difficulties of trying to get anything done in the MCG precinct due to their being so many stakeholders and lack of land to build on. Eddie Maguire and Collingwood really did a number on us taking Olympic Park. It really should of been claimed by us. But unfortunately you cannot change the past. Anyway, I will continue waiting to the end of this season and then I will start asking questions again. The Melbourne Football Club Board needs to remember that we have not forgotten about this issue and it will continue to be raised until the matter is finally rectified. I will not rest until the Melbourne Football Club has a proper Home Base finally built.
  17. It really is wonderful to have another Woewodin playing at the Demons. I was always a little saddened when Father Shane went to Collingwood. Having his son Taj debut for the Demons definitely makes up for it! It goes to show how important family is and the tradition of the "Father-Son Rule" at Football Clubs. A rule that was invented to allow Ron Barassi junior to play at the Demons many decades ago! It all adds to the rich history and culture of the Melbourne Demons Football Club. Long may it continue! Additionally, it is looking more likely that Jake Melksham will reach 100+ games for the Melbourne Football Club too! Possibly this week or next week?
  18. Pretty good effort by Jake Melksham to kick 4 goals for the Casey Demons. Worth another sneaky chance to play in the senior side? Perhaps he will get to play 100 games for Melbourne after all?
  19. I remember hearing the story about Mark "Jacko" Jackson back in the 1980s kicking 100 balls at goal every training session. Although he probably should of worked on his people skills as well as his goal kicking skills. Still he had an average of 4 goals a game. That's pretty good! Shame Mark "Jacko" Jackson was madder than a cut snake! 🤣 I think an extra hour at training to practice goal kicking is pretty reasonable for our players. Anyway, I have faith in Mark "Choco" Williams fixing our goal kicking woes eventually. Practice makes perfect in the end.
  20. I think the likelihood of getting Harley Reid is becoming more and more unlikely every time Fremantle have a win. I do think that West Coast would be better off trading the coveted number 1# draft pick to recruit more talent. Particularly after their humiliating performance against Sydney over the weekend. Losing by 171 points is horrific! Although I don't have much sympathy for Eagles supporters! Nevertheless, who ever Jason Taylor takes with the Demon's early draft picks they MUST be excellent kicks and decision makers. I do have faith in the Melbourne recruiting team though. For the time being, no point worrying about it until the end of the 2023 season.
  21. Was a disappointing effort in the last quarter against Geelong. Lots of fumbling of the ball. However, I do take into account the wet weather. The fanatical (feral) crowd down in Geelong was certainly a factor too. Although, Geelong kicked a few "easy" goals in the last quarter as well. Would of really liked a win down at the Cattery. But it just goes to show how difficult it is to beat the Cats down there on their own dung heap at Kardinia Park. Hopefully, we bounce back against GWS in Alice Springs this coming week as we desperately need a good win to keep in touch with the top 4 on the AFL ladder.
  22. Hoping that Blake Howes, Bailey Laurie and a few of the other draftees play well for the Casey Demons. The Casey Demons need to bounce back after a disappointing loss to the Collingwood Magpies reserves the other week.
  23. Fingers crossed the Demons win tonight! 🤞 Adam Tomlinson stiff to be dropped. It will be a very hostile crowd down at the Cattery. But let's hope we can get over the line by a few points. GO DEMONS!!! 🔴🔵👹
  24. Was at the game yesterday. Lots of issues need to be rectified. Firstly, we were really missing Clayton Oliver yesterday in the middle. We have definitely become increasingly dependent upon him, which is not a good balance for our midfield. Secondly, our disposal efficiency was terrible. Fumbles, miskicks, turnovers, dropped marks, plus missed tackles! Missing crucial goals didn't help either! Thirdly, our connection into the forward line was horrible as well. Everything just seemed a real struggle for us against Fremantle. They certainly have the wood over us and we were out coached too. It was a bitter pill to swallow. Anyway, a lot of work to do at training for the Demons this week!
