As a very young youngster I remember him as a very earnest presenter of a kids' show on (black and white) TV, and the Barassi plastic football boots that were my first ever, even though they were hand me downs. He was charismatic, a presence, no wonder I went for the dees and no wonder I was devastated when he went to Carlton. My three brothers followed him and dumped the MFC. I stuck.

Question: losing to Collingwood and then Carlton in successive weeks, in finals - does it get any worse than that?
-
How much did the weather influence the result?
-
Maynard must get at least four weeks
Demonised replied to leave it to deever's topic in Melbourne Demons
'Nothing else he could have done' is rubbish. He had the momentum. He could have turned/spun away instead of toward. He was making a statement. And, yes, you can turn mid-air. -

Looks a lot like the old 'make him earn it' tactic I thought we'd left in the past. -
Level 2 diagnostic.

This podcast that’s all red and blue, A mustn’t miss all Dees review. Binman’s a tactician, George has erudition And Andy’s heart always beats true.

I often wonder what he'd be like playing today. He'd be great, of course, but in what way? Playing on the wing, I hope, not HBF ...
-
Searching for an omen, on the way to the ground I saw three ravens sitting on a fence. One looked at the others, shook its head and said, 'Nevermore.' Dees by 29 points.

Has anyone ever had something that was working well and then they fiddled with it until they broke it? That.

I'm rewatching the last quarter of the 21 GF to remind myself that these players *can* kick straight.
-
I guess we're seeing things differently. Arms pinned but still with the ball in hand? Making some movements towards disposing of the ball would be enough to be considered a legitimate attempt. At least it was before the prior opportunity rule ...
-
Not sure I understand. In your hypothetical scenario if 'no prior' rule is abolished, ball winner player grabs the ball, is tackled by players sweating on him and free kick is given against him. I'm suggesting that all he has to to is make a legitimate *attempt* in that situation and a ball up would result.

The 2nd quarter mark he took, playing in front of the much taller Moore, the way he refused to give up front position, was excellent and deserved great praise. Moore was bamboozled.
-
Not necessarily. If the ball winner makes a legitimate attempt to dispose of the ball it goes to a ball up.

It's only a flesh wound.

You know, for some of those weird McKay around the corner kicks it would have been worth having someone coming at him from the other side, from behind him, his blind side. Obviously not the ones from the boundary line, but the others. He couldn't see them coming and it might add a bit of panic.

And kudos to the AFL video team for finding enough highlights from this game to put together a highlights package.
-
A hypothetical: imagine if we'd taken last night's defensive line-up into the last two games...
-
Let us never speak of that game again.
-
We're taking lots of our set shots from very wide in the pocket.
-
It's okay, we'll be fighting fit in September. Not sure if we'll be in the finals, though.
-
Have we kicked two goals in a row all game?
-
I've got a bad feeling about this.

Set shots back to 2022.
