PREGAME: Rd 19 vs Carlton
A very different challenge: we could easily bring in May and Keep TMac. Going to need to replace sparrow (maybe Culley?) Kolt, Windsor and Lindsay under the pump. Billing’s could even put his hand up… Going to need to be stronger in the contest and may need 2 rucks to take on Pittonet and de Koenig. Should win, depends if we show up and dont dispose of it as poorly as we did today.

CASEY: Rd 16 vs Werribee
Henderson a warm body, did nothing in the first half. Spargo very good, as were Howes and Adams. Billings was good, and liked weeper (a mini ooze) although he would have to a f/s option that is better than pup?? Woey has more size than I thought he had, and could develop well down back as a middle sized player. Liked Kentfield crashing packs and thought Verrell was more than OK.

It’s over - if you’re CEO, what’s the fix?
CEO should come in and execute what the board wants - deliver on the strategic vision. The questions would be what is driving the board atm? Onfield review, off field review, home base? Lets see what they are set to do by the board, then we can know if they are a success…

PODCAST: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast
If this one sneaks in…. When did we bocome such a group of ‘downhill skiers?’ Where is the heart to really go at a contest, to take your turn and go hard? It shouldnt be Jack Viney to the middle or the qtr time spray before th boys get their heads over the pill. Biggest issue is somehow between our ears…

Unacceptable q1, average from there. Lost players early which impacted rotations, but we are just not good enough.

TRAINING: Sunday 22nd June 2025
ON GOAL KICKING… it is also harder to deliver a skill after repeat sprint efforts. That is what i would add to training- 3 100m sprints then a shot on goal. This would better replicate game situation, lactic acid accumulation, breathing changes etc than just a few kicks at training.

Stats File - 2025 edition
A model is never complete, but a stripped back representation of the reality. The ‘complexity’ argument is valid, as is the way Wheelo represents the current data sets. The trick would also to understand what’s is valued by the team in their system and how that could be measured in the data. For example, maybe Collingwood prize the forward of the ball running that is often unrewarded - against us, 4 players sprinted to an imaginary line up/down the field the forward flank to provide 4 options during a d50 transition. Was damned impressive, but only one of those lads would get a stat. We have probably put maximal weighting on contested ball and insides 50’s/ forward half time. I wonder what we need to value now?

POSTGAME: Rd 14 vs Port Adelaide
From an external viewpoint, it looks like our method involves getting the ball into the f50 under any means, win the contested ball and score goals. This breaks down when: We dont apply any pressure and the ball waltzes from our f50 to theirs. We cant win a clearance in our f50 We cannot kick goals. Bombing it in allows oppositions to set 1 or 2 extra behind the ball to intercept, to spoil, and to begin their turnover into attack. When we allow this as a set-up, it creates the carnage we saw yesterday. 1 in 5 entries end in a score. Unacceptable.

PODCAST: Rd 14 vs Port Adelaide
Super frustrating watching that. We were terrible - won so many stats but they were useless in the end. Georgiades had a day out - but wouldn’t have if he was a demon..) We are at the bye, and turn the corner in real trouble. We continue to make the same dreadful errors and cannot kick for goal. Who should we look at from Casey, who should go back, and what games can we realistically win in the home stretch??

POSTGAME: Rd 14 vs Port Adelaide
I am the most disappointed I have been in a while. That was a genuinely poor performance and we allowed those mongers from Port Adelaide to look like champions. Poor pressure No real backman to go with georgiades Thrashed on turnover Terrible entries into 50 Goal kicking Junk time goals Sheesh! The bye cannot come soon enough.

PODCAST: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
Gawd! The umpiring is unacceptable, but we cost ourselves this one. We have a fleet of young players and we put up a solid performance with as few costly errors. Future looks bright. We have to win 10 from here to make it - any thoughts on where we will get these from?

PODCAST: Rd 12 vs St. Kilda
Here we go again! Last year this game was the start of our plunge. Freo by miles, if i remember. This was different: Kossie lazy shot and they sling shotted for a number of goals, where we lost the contest and had poor defensive structures. !/4 time wed fixed this, but couldn’t kick straight. Frustrating as all get out, because we were not terrible, and should have an easy four points. Any thoughts on why we were so poor in Q1, and then so inaccurate thereafter?? If it is mental, what are we/should we do about it? Following this mob can be hard sometimes….

PREGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
AJ to get two weeks, straight swap for jVR. If Viney is fit then he comes in to replace probably Laurie. DO we roll the dice and put Jeffo in? Melks and Fritta did OK, except for their goal kicking…… Won’t matter - we have to defend like we did for most of the day and then take our chances the other way. When we defended poorly early, they piled on 6 goals. They scored sporadically after that - but when we kick 1.12 that is all they needed to do.

What are they saying at Moore Park?
Sydney fans for so long had no idea wtf was going on. “Jolly good number 5” was about where they were at. Now they have grown to be as obnoxious as many other supporter groups- the ones that feel ‘entitled’ are the worst!

PREGAME: Rd 11 vs Sydney

Draft targets 2025
The most compromised draft ever… not having a first round pick but access to a few talents via f/s and NGA is our path forward. Still want to death ride the bombers, however. Remember we got Lindsay and Langford, and will have a year into both. They will be awesome, and probably better than we would have been able to get with this years mess, once we finish middle table.
