  1. Even an average Clayton is a valuable asset to us as a team. And back to top shelf Clayton. = you would be ashamed of even suggesting this garbage.
  2. Back to the future . We return to Optus oval - the site of a terrible loss to West Coast - to face Freemantle - who put us to the sword by nearly 100 points. Seems like we should be shaking in our boots. We are now also without Gawn and Trac, and after one victory have sky-rocketed into the 8. So, how are we going to go?> Only Nostradamus can know! At our best, we will control the contest and the ground ball, Our defence will be all strangling and hold them to under 72 points whilst our slick hands and smart plays will open our front 50 for a number of our forwards to cash in. Provided we play four quarters (not done this for a while), we have this. At our worst, we will lose the momentum early and never get it back. We will mind grass and watch them sail away to the win. So, the difference between these teams is really small. They are about the same place on the ladder as us, they have excellence in the midfield and a few good sorts around the ground, and we..can be anything! So, with my hopes running high, i say Dees by 22 points.
  3. Interesting last night the conditions appeared slippery with the dew, and a lot of kicking off the ground and forcing the ball forward was used by both sides. Interesting to see how it will be tonight….
  4. Looked like some transition practice. Accuracy might win/lose the game, so good on them for practicing. Well done WCW and your merry band!
  5. This guy really stands out as a complete ball bag of an umpire against us.
  6. From having the best ruckman in the league to having no ruckman at all! How would Fullarton be reflecting upon the circumstance? be interesting to see how we go with this - a Biclavs type competition or a TMac, Petty and aJVR region approach? it wont be won or lost in the ruck, but we are going to have to be hard at them all night. Go Dees
  7. Very nice. no club or sponsor branding? Thought they would have loved to be involved in something so positive? Anyway, loved it. Well done all
  8. Maybe they will be too tall for the conditions? We can beat them if they carry too much height into the game and it ends up being a slippery groundball fest
  9. Is everyone forgetting the Schaque attack? No? Fullarton then for the win!
  10. Sure, Cream to come in for max. Doesn’t have to be as good as Max, just compete, stretch the Bombers and be good around the ground, He;s good this!
  11. “. It was poise and practice, rather than fitness, that cost us at the end.”
  12. This [censored] has little idea. 13 players <100 games, 11 under 22, no Trac or Angus. And yet, we did ok. It was poise and practice, rather than fitness, that cost us at the end.
  13. Some time to think about the game after ther initial frustration: we had 13 blokes <100 games we were without Trac and Brayshaw, and a few others as well. we had 11 players under 22. not excuses, just some framing. the ‘Red and Blue print’ discussed on the pod suggests winning the clearance is not so important, however, i think it sets us up for success. The hunt and pressure attitude follows this clearance, and allows us to go confidently and set up our defence. The whole slingshot off the hb is ok, but when it comes at the expense of frontal pressure, i think n the model is flawed. Only in Q2were we over 190 in pressure, what i would see as a minimum standard for every quarter. next, Brisbane took the Zorko kick off hb and opened us up like a tin of beans. We were busy running so hard to get off our opponents that we could not cut off the slick ball movements and our zones were all over the place. I think this is our biggest issue this year. Hold our zone or run and gun? A great plan would encourage the zone to reform on turnover up the ground so that from 80 m from goal we become impenetrable. Just not happening. We can be run down by applying pressure. No goals in the last quarters of the last 2 games, held by teams that looked like they wanted it more. Misses by Petty (how they hurt!) Langers and others just not good enough. We are still in this, and again there was a lot to like about how we showed up. When we win the centre clearance and apply pressure, we are a good team. Otherwise we are often witches hats.
  14. Moving day. play well (win or close loss) and the commentary may lighten up on us a bit. ( some here might lighten up on each other, too!( It’s the start of the ‘backend of the season’ stretch. I think we have set ourselves for this one. Keys: Match them in contest and clearance = dont allow massive clearance goal scores like they did against Geelong. Contested in their 50 - slow their transitions and make joe the goose play outside of the 50 for his touches Pressure over 190 all game Score at least 85 points. This is the start of the next phase of the season, AMW to get a look in as part of his development, not sure we can play as tall as listed (?Late change?) W . Go Dees!
  15. Debut Kynan in Melb near family Debut AMW in Bris, closer to Darwin and his family. Any kid would take 10 minutes in their first match, and to deliver a game saving tackle to boot! Neither AMW or Pup are of a Harley Reid level demanding a full run, so we should trust the club is using these moments to build lads on the edge of a career into having the best chance of having one. Long term development
  16. @WalkingCivilWar: any inside news on the lad’s nickname?
  17. So in the weekend we had the most players under 22 (10). We are without Trac and Angus (or Smith), and Oliver was way down. I’m not sure what the expectation is but we are not doing to badly given this (and a number of other players down on form). I saw 3 quarters of something pretty good. It is a long season, and we dont have the cattle at the moment to be pointy end. IF we can keep doing above average and make the 8. - which I believe we will do - then I will mark it a pass for 2024. Where are your pass marks for this year based upon where we are at compared to the start of the year?
  18. Fleeced? For what may be pick 50ish…. Which would get us…. ??? Lucky to get a one legged tap dancer at that pick. If he plays a few good games her has outperformed.
  19. Was the fix ‘in’? How did you view the umpiring in the last qtr? I think that we got smashed around the ball and the whistle in the last. May said in his interview to CH 7 - ‘when they started getting all the downfield free kicks and 50’s it was going to be tough’…. Your thoughts on this ??
  20. Think Tommo and pup are locks. Suspect kolt comes in too. Then Trac out, and a few others to boot! Maybe even macadam gets a crack? gotta play lingers and duke on the wings, Kyanan to HFF, outs? Chin, Billing’s, Trac and maybe even petts. big statement about standards and culture awaits at the selection table….
  21. From Trac’s own version, they did not know about th internal injuries until his Hb started dropping in hospital, requiring a second scan to find the issue. It moved him from a 3/10 to a 10/10 trauma wise. There could be no way anyone at the club, Trac, an external doctor or any media show pony could have know or even guessed. So, everyone can hop off and get F*ed. Get well soon to Trac is all people should say.
  22. Controversy = clicks = happy AFL. Wont get changed any time soon.
  23. Pies were bad first half. Loading? Were witches hats for Norf training run. Switched on 2nd half and shot them lame duck that the shinbones are. We got this.
  24. Question? Could we run down a 50 pt deficit though? Hmmm
  25. All these no-knowledge nuffies having a skwark at the club. Pile on ladies and gents! And then the thugs are supposed to be heroes for some ‘duty of care’ bs? Just saying, if you wanted to demonstrate duty of care, don’t go smashing into an unprotected player with your knee. Sheesh!
