The missing aspect to our line up is no guarded secret. We had/have a pretty fair pair of bookends. Given the job they will carry it out with fair dividends. Arguably the fwds havent had the opportunites that equate with the workload imposed upon our backs but the talent and ability is there. We've lacked that 'thing' in the middle....that Midfield thing. So the order was given, GET US A MIDFIELD !! Additions Michie Vince Tyson Cross + number 9 Add to Viney, Toupas, Trengove and the indfatiguable Jones and an assortment of others and I think we actually DO have a competitive Midfield. Not a world beater but one able to stem the tide of onslaught to the backs and cogently deliver some feed to our forwards. You couldnt really rate what didnt exist before but Id give our new lot a pass. Time will tell what kind .

Given that flankers by their very nature work to the periphery of the midfield anyway Grimes can and would have some impact there. But i see him doing so as an instigator /rebounder coming into that fray rather than trying to earn his quid from the guts

The thing is no coach is really saying anything..Whats to say ? trot out any number of co-joined cliches ? Everything is kept close of chest at this juncture. After all the trades and drafting then there's some largesse for commentary and questioning.

Back flanker definitely for mine. Hes actually a very good reader of the play and despite the occasional stuffing of his deliveries is very good at instigating rebounds. Gets a bit lost in the hectic traffic of the midfield..leave him back please.

my thinking was to set about getting the spine looking solid hence my: Garland Frawley Jones Clark Hogan. everything sorta hangs off of this.. Reality is there's probably 10-12 permutations that depending on the day ( and match-ups ) will all look pretty good , and hopefully work even better

youre right about the 'flankers' they can work the middle at kiddy-ball but need time out of the middle to really develop at VFL/AFL level. Freemans wonkiness can be polished, but he has the underlying talent for the midfield Still theres 3 or 4 decent pickups for us to choose from. Like you id prefer Freeman

Wtf has been sitting in the stands, doing that coachy thing of late ? a doppelganger ? Hes listed as senior coach. everything else is accounting semantics.

I sense there is a two tiered plan with respect to rebulding the list. Get a few older players who'll have 2, 3, 4, years at the club providing some insurance to competitiveness whilst riding shotgun for the kids as they come in and get experienced, but not expected to carry the team as in recent flawed efforts. The older ones just need to do a decent job. They arent flagship players, nor need to be saints, just effective.

Theyre a strange lot. Very self serving in terms of how they feel and think they are travelling. I too think they will struggle, then implode. ( that will be funny to watch ) I sense we'll be about par with them but only as we pass on way up, they sliding down.. I think Mouse is still living his yesterdays.
