Could Melbourne have Western Bulldogs-like resurgence in 2016?
beelzebub replied to Curry & Beer's topic in Melbourne Demons
Well this is it in a manner. They say its often your bottom third of a list that defines you over a season. In past seasons pickings were mighty slim in that respect. No offence to players but some just werent up to it and its taken a while to change the list . Many of our players in our bottom 1/3 may still not be world beaters and or projects but they are a cut above what we had. Our ability to plug holes has gone up quite a few ranks.. In some games this will count heavily. With some permanently knocking on thedoor and indeed occasionally getting games them there ought to be some healthy competition for spots. That's good , as it should be. -

Could Melbourne have Western Bulldogs-like resurgence in 2016?

Actually, we have already shown we'll play quite differently. Much more fwd defensive pressure. Keeping ball in our 50, trying to cause a turnover and pounce. I've made mention before of effectively changing our scoreboard by roughly 4.5 goals a game ( scoring 2/3 goals more, saving a couple ) this can all come from this sort of pressure. I see hope -

Christian Petracca's toe injury (in full training)
beelzebub replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
With the likes of Petracca, Hogan Oliver and already with Viney , Vince and the Bearded one we have not only players that dont fear the opposition but players who actually relish taking them on ( and apart ) This is a very different Melbourne we're seeing emerge -
Could Melbourne have Western Bulldogs-like resurgence in 2016?

Well... quite frankly if we cant start to lift ourselves up the ladder this year then we never will again. So like a farmer who's sown his crop and put into affect all that can be to achieve a successful outcome I am going to expect that we will achieve one. Yes , shlt can happen but until it does, if it does, I m going to remain fairly optimistic about this year. We've got some decent talent yet to return, yet to debut even. We havent got THE list yet but certainly the backbone of one. I rate our list better than quite a few teams and I unlike some think this years fixture isnt too bad in the first half. In short...I likeour chances now. Makes a change -
but it will....take care of itself. If hes injured again he'll be a fulltime student...see , taken care of

Could Melbourne have Western Bulldogs-like resurgence in 2016?

I dont know that its that insurmountable. Some weeks back I noted that I thought we could do ok until we hit the wall around the Port game.....but we just accounted for them ( yes I know its just NAB...but we still played them, caught them...demoralised them...fun that ) if we can get some early momentum...who knows -

I think the role thats perfect for Watts is THIRD tall forward.. with a bit of freedom . Frost, Dawes, Pedo can al lfill the 2nd fwd spot in some fashion. Just need one to really help out Hoges. Hoges will get attention but he'll get better at eluding it as well. Teams need to be wary.. Focus too much on Jesse and a swarm of others will kick goals once we fine tune the machine. Just about all of the mids now are there partly because they can hit the scoreboard. Jones got 12 last season and he was not always in tip top form. I think he'ls good for a goal a game in 2016 We need to prevent about 2 goals a game as compared season 15.....and kick another 2/3 goals per game as compared last year.. We do that we play finals. -

1) Tom , despite the many pages elsewhere , just needs to tidy up his disposal. His defending form is fine. I think he'll be helped out with "wingmen" 2) The fitter he is the fitter he stays. Crossed fingers for sure . Gee hasnt he made a difference. We still need to develop his understudy ...and quickly 3) I think Dom is but one of a handful that need to refind form.. Dom, Harry, Garland needs to step up a bit as well. 4) Watts, Kent, Petracca, Brayshaw, Salem and who ever puts hand up as second tall. -
It was a cheap shot , simple as that. Was a dog act and he got collared.

Young Dog Goetz found guilty of misconduct at Tribunal Knocked on head...fine increased ........good "Goetz, who was flanked on Tuesday by coach Luke Beveridge and football manager Graham Lowe, told the Tribunal the incident was a reflex action and not a push after Garland "diverted in front" of him." The pup was coerced into the appealing by his coach. Im really starting to take a dislike to Beveridge.
