  1. If nothing else but as an armchair spectacle this year is far and away more interesting than many before. As usual the actual amount of trades wil be but a fraction of those mooted but there are many more "possibilities' this year. I wonder if this cant be a sign of frustration by a number of clubs regarding either the general success of the club involved or the lack of prgress exhibited by some and certain players. I suppose by the very nature of trading there has to be a number of teams wiling to participate. Quite curious that it seemed as though some teams were neither comitted to ,nor reticent to trade but took the opportunity to jump in once a couple of key players announced intentions. How Melboure ends up in the wash after all this is still conjecture. Meeson seems the only deal likely to date but as usual I expect much to come down to the wire as the mad "2 oclock" scramble comes on Friday!!! If nothing else a loud and succint message is being blasted through the sleepy hollow of Junction Oval, 2008 will be different !!
  2. its not al ldoom and gloom in those years look who else was around at 5,6, and 7 2006 Travis Boak, Mitchell Thorp and Joel Selwood 2005 Scott Pendlebury, Beau Dowler and Patrick Ryder 2004 Lance franklin,Tom Williams, Jordan lewis ( Meeson was next !! ) 2003 Our Brocky, Kepler Bradley and Kan tenace 2002 Jarrad McVeigh, Steven Salopek and Andrew Mackie 2001 Xavier Clarke, Asheley Sampi and David Hale....Bartel was next !! point is there was still talent around...just depends who ya pick and for why!! pick 4 is still very very handy !!
  3. Ash... has he be played down back ( even in intraclub etc ) ?
  4. why ?? It states he's in the leadership group, yes he'l lneed a bit of 'therapy" but if he thoguth he might be a look-in in next year he'll have to wait another year beofre being considered. Bruce Green mentoined almost as afterthoughts. If Brocky wasnt being conseidered for teh job none of his "trip" would have mateered one way or the other. so again..how have i read it wrong?
  5. http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/footy/com...5E19742,00.html take from this what you might, as with any piece of journalism there is the chance of mistaken enthusiam for the stor but you sort of get the idea that its Brocky short of him declaring war on the rest of the world ( or vice versa!! lol ) Green ,Bruce mentioned most likely to add credence without expectation. At least they seem to going the logical route of maintaining Neeta for 2008 in the big role.
  6. Keep in mind this is an attitude, not a gaurantee that anyone is staying. He's also keen on Trapper pulling his finger out whilst at the same time putting him up for trade. All i see at the moment is Bailey 'keen' on building up good younger stocks whilst weeding out those that arent shining to the desired lux !!
  7. The hard simple fact is... Hes up for trade.. You can dance around that however you like. You can come up will all the sob stories you like but if the club is fed up.. thats good enough for me.. !!
  8. yeah the odds are terrible.. Only a 1.3 Billion of them !!
  9. The Saints to be honest are probably interested i n anything from Bill the butchers second cousin who " can kick a bottler" to Maisy the Gorrilla who they can pick up with any of their Daft picks !! i wouldnt read too much into that.. ... the Saints make us look like geniuses in draft week !!
  10. Hardly !! by comparison what have we accomplished ??? SFA !! Sydney do things a bit differently from the Victorian norm ( and i mean how dare they...what do they know...apart form winnig a premiership !! ) Because the poor unfortunates finished higher than us thy dont ahve ashiny shiny pick...so they use it differently.. I for one would watch them with interest.. we're so damn lucky having pick 4...they must be so bloody jealous !! ( NOT !! )
  11. couldnt give us 39 tattlotto numbers !! ( then Id know the six to pick )
  12. Ok...lets be a little realistic about this.... We rate ( sorry the general consensus apparently is.....) that TJ is in the top ten of our club. now thats probably true. It says more about the general ste of our club rather than the actual calibre of the player. Bit like the perennial student's report card ....."has ability...can do better " and thats Trapper, has promised so much for SOooooooooo long without consistently ( read people...c.o.n.s.i.s.t.e.n.t.l.y ) delivering. Always within a whisker..never over the line for more than a couple of games. We as a club often get starry eyed and biased in our appreciation of our players; god knows Im accused of it..lol ..hehe . i digress. But just for the moment lets step back and see what the rest of foooty world think.. Ok..how many clubs are champng at the bit and killing the grass as they stampede to pick up Trapper ??????/ lets count them shal we... after me... there's.... hmm...and...ummm.. welll... !! actually ; theres no one !! Now wake up and smell the flowers !! He just a good average player ..nothing excelling or brilliant. Maybe by "our" rose colured standards but not apparently by anyone elses. Indee more interest in Frosty ffs !! Its not about dissing th ejumper..nor belittling a player...just calling it as it is. we'd be lucky to get a second round pick at present...such is life
  13. yes apparently 4 21 37 53 and 69 are in reality Honey Chicken, Cantonese beef, prawns in Black Bean , large Special fried rice and home made dim sum !! who'd da thunk !!
  14. http://realfooty.com.au/news/news/jolly-go...1695739735.html Jolly accepts new 4 year deal with the Swannies, so thats him taken care of so all of you worrying he might have been returning, or those eagrefor it......its all off. ought to be a short thread this one...lol
  15. whether anyone likes it or not ...the exact lay of the land as much as who actually has whatpicks..or onforwardingplayers etc wont be finished til this goes through. Some will say...well why wait just get on with whatever deals you can. To some degree this can and wil be done where it doesnt effect the bigger picture , otherwise any possibly involved club will want to try to ride the coat-tails of the Judd deal if they can and better their trading. So like it or not ,this IS the pre-eminent deal of the week and much will flow afterwards WCE will take pick 3, a player and some other pick , whether its pick 20 or a bettered option through trading.
  16. Neeta will play on for some very simple reasons First of all he has a contract to do so for 2008 !! secondly , thirdly and otherise , he has a contract to play in 2008 !! lol He'll go one more year. He knows its his last. He knows we will play 500% better in 2008 and he'll want to enjoy his swansong and good luck to him.
  17. very succintly put !! B)
  18. you may want to check on how many registered players there are now in Africa ??..a makes a mockery of all other comps put together
  19. at least the rot may have stopped !!
  20. McEvoy looks interesting For some reason I sorta like Grant.. but Athletic 2m runners dont come along often do they ? lol . Going to be an interesting draft. have to see what pix we end up with after next week !! #4 and ...who knows !! lol
  21. not a lot of big bodied athletes out of asia... some yes, i grant you...very much the exception!! You need to look at locales with developing interest in our game and with "known" and quantified athletic possibilities. for me Africa is the ideal.. .But hey...who cares where they're from !! The average "sporty" African teenager is going to romp the Beep test...lol
  22. HATE is reserved for the Filth, Scum-land etc.. lol
  23. I agree wholeheartedly re any known cases of OP.. its just a minefield. Lets some other club take that chance..
  24. Its all revolves around that pick 3. if , as I have always thought WCE settle on pick 3 and abandon ( accept reality ) on pick 1 then that 3rd selection may not necessarily go the way its been mooted. As result I seriously think melbourne have only a rough idea of who they will land at 4 simply because its not a dead cert who wil stil be there at that early point. id rate Cotchin as maybe a 30% chance
  25. http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,8659,2...1-23211,00.html read last paragraphs and you get the impression Cuz aint going anywhere !! still, this is footy !! lol
