A good analogy there Vanlo. Look who ever it is.. will need to get going at a million miles an hour to stay ahead of the "inclement ' weather that seems to constantly haunt us.

thanks Mousey...must 've been hiding from me..lol A very 'average' effort in many respects.. from our point of view. The 'our' being the many that discuss it ad nauseum almost.. Some folk out there in public land might not be so au fait with it all..so for them it might be news. Certainly not for us!! We know all this. We've ben yelling and carrying on about it for ages The New CEO has his work cut out.. and he needs to start yesterday. Melbourne needs to think outside of the box. The little box that is Melbourne on the map really offers us very little. Thanks Garry...but nothing new there mate !!

Paul Gardner on Footy Classified tonite
beelzebub replied to rednblue2009's topic in Melbourne Demons
In all fairness I think gardner has/is a good President...without being brilliant. Some aspects about Melbourne do frustrate me.. especially branding. However.... despite the media's want for us to self capitulate into some abyss we are steadily steeering our way...only causing ripples and not waves. it could be better... but we all know it could be far WORSE !! -

Demonglory...two posts in and you have already uttered what i consider the truism. I , however think it may catch a lot unawares as to where the upside comes from ...none the less.. I agree.. INTERESTING is definitely the word I'd choose.

1987 Prelim Final...Team Spirit
beelzebub replied to Jumping Jack Clennett's topic in Melbourne Demons
I watched a LOT of "Flower Power" games and must say I can hardly remember his lining up at the sharper end. I saw him sometimes moved ( later in his carer) to the occasional forward role deeper up front but I have to say I can only recall the "very most" of his games on the wing. Not arguing this point..just commenting -
I think I'll be very happy for him to remain in his current position for many a year. He knows our predicament and he really is a Demon through and through. Yet he has a grounding to enable him to distinguish sentiment from reality and urgnecy from haste. Im glad he understands the "Brand" need to drive our resurgence. To me this is an ackowledgement that passing around the plate to the limited members time and time again will get no where. He obviously understands the rebuild ( of clubs renaissance) must come from the club itself, that it must be the club revitalising its relevance to the game and increasing its worth. What I find truly encouraging is he must think its possible!! Many ought to take solace in that. A batttle hardened veteran thinks it can be done Slowly the Titanic turns away from the ice-field !! Ive always like Green to roam the paddock of the F - flank..he can come inside when needed or work in space. He has the gumption to get into the corridor when its warranted. Give him space. Somehwat begrudgingly id stick Ooz in a pocket also. .he can be dangerous on his day..and reality is..just as we dont know when that is..neither does the oppsition!! lol..Id like to rotate some youth through a pocket also

I guess i will always have a different opinion to many here in the regard of 'whom owes whom" All you who are extremely gung ho ...line up over there ...>>>>>>>>>>>>.....and go for it. Me. I like footy.. have watched more games than I care to remember. Played some centuries ago. Have bought my share of raffle tickets for worthy ( demonic ) causes.. have sent monies away off and on over the years. have too many scarves to wear in one hit..even thrown some out. Ive frozen my butt off at Artica.. braved the cesspit called Victoria Park.. have sung the song standing on tables in Essendons members bar ( the amber did help !!).. I go to handful of games a year(expensive ones effectively)..and thats all I watch others on the box. essentially...been there..done that.. So I ask.. what as a spectator and follower of the game and barracker of Melbourne am I exactly supposed to do ? I wont give over all of my waking hours, nor recreation time and certainly not any more money.. I have a differing opinion proabably to many here.. Its JUST footy..its NOT everything. Proabably 44 years of medocrity has calmed my passion...but not my hopes. I do other things.. I have hobbies.. have friends who dont particularly follow footy ( and some even worse who do and have dark side tendencies )..and more importantly I have a family who dont al share my respect for the game..other than my daughter and she thought it would be fun to annoy me and follow StKilda.. well shes already one up on me this year huh !! Essentially Footy fits into my life not the other way around. Just my perspective.. Melbourne is a business... It turns over Millions. It pays its employees to run around and kick the hide around... Unless they start issuing share certificates why ought I hand over any more money. I enjoy Indiana Jones films..but after paying my 15 bucks ( plus popcorn etc ) thats as much of an investment I wish to make in Harrison Fords life. I occasionally use PT ..and other than the ticket thats all I care to invest also. But does that mean if I dont like the film or find the train and trams less than ideal that i cant comment on them ?? It was Kennedy who posed the suggestion that we question the relationship between the individual and their country..Thats al fine and dandy when you talk of your country..the very fabric of your life and that of your families and what you ought to be prepared to do to protect it. But Melbourne is not a country..its a franchise of a very large corporation. I would turn it around and suggest that its MFC that ought to be mindful of what it does for its supporters..the very folk that essentially give the club an existance. Id be proffering that THEY need to contribute more to the effort. From where Ive been Sitting...Standing..freezing.. yelling..paying for the last 44 years its been a bit of a one way street. And should i get to do so for at least half that time as well.. I'll do so with as much heart and passion as ever.. but I reserve the right to voice my concerns. Blatant heresy isnt it !! lol

Id be curious to know how often Robbie ever lined up on the forward line ? -
Before the NAB debacle I had us at around 7-8... Im not so confident just presently with that..and might think 9-10 Idont see it as a year of being perennial easybeats. I think we'll have some good games and maybe more bad ones.. But they will only really be bad for not gelling properly. I still think we're definitely two KPP short of serious .competitiveness ( FB really concerns me ) . I see it as a season of moments.. There wil lbe somepurple patches as some players find their 'groove thang " and get rolling.. A few stalwarts wil put in final efforts and out game wil lstart to shape up. There will be a changing of the guard as more and more of the youngens step up displacing some of the 'furniture' I think the year wil be remmebered as one of "finds" as a few emerge from shadows to lay claim to permanent starting 22 status. Who knows what injuries may play in the big picture...hopefully not much. Probably not the year we'd book for our 150th but far from our worst. go DEES !!
-
I suspect a lot of truth in that one. ( though not sure if White's contract runs next year.. but he'd be clever to retire anyway )
-
Your just being silly now !!! lol
