hmm... completely forgot about that for a moment..lol ahh..bring ontrade week
-
quite possibly..but the key wil be whether he can switch into the now . If he holds on to where his heart would rather be, he'll never realise his potential
-
geezus... for people who make their living in the lime light..its a tad precious
-
thats for sure.. seems to be a pigs breakfast of 'affection and love' pmsl !! I geta few bottles from a SA wino mate..he an avid Crow boy..he thinks its hilarious. They seem on the point of implosion . Pearce is more than handy. I say it again ..trade week 2009 is going to be very intereting..ought to be a lot more 'interests with weight"
-
why? is he out of favour with Chocco ?
-
""CHRIS Yarran's ex-WAFL coach has called for patience from Carlton fans, warning he will become an AFL star when he lifts his workrate."" will he lift his work rate ? why hasnt he already ? is his head in the right place ?..is he in the right place ? Kinda get the idea he'd rather be home..with his mates

I know many will feel this way i.e. youre mad to offer Jared up etc. I for one dont think Jared has quite recaptured his edge. He's a yard slower these days and a little prone to allowing the niggle to get inteh way of his othewise deep bag of skills. Im still not convinced we will get any more uninterupted seasons from him. Injury seems his curse. As such he is a risk of sorts and I think his best days are unfortunately behind him, many may argue against..somewill agree.... so if Im going to risk..I'll take that risk with more upside and thats what Boak would offer
-
a bit of logic to this.. Boak comes home...Rivers goes home I too would take it a blink.. Id offer pick 34 and Rivers first...see if they bite.. that gives you room to ante up to clinch it. too logical to ever happen...
-
2 years is fair for all... gives them a good wicket..aso if they are what they ought to become then the next contracts offered them will be more thanlikely 3 years on much bedtter terms.. Its a natural progression really. For us it locks them away from GC and WS :)

I think just quietly that Bails is drooling over his prospects in this draft as enabling him to compliment that which he was able ( and needed) to get last year. I think the mids will be the final bit in his jigsaw. I say mids as that was his forte when at Port.( premiership ) He knows what you need to win and he knows how to cojoul it..as that wa shis job when with the Bombers, also coincidentlally during a premiership spell. I think there is much yet to be seen about our list and the man leading it. Shackles off in '010..

funny in a way.. not al lthat long aga.. or was it when we were playing some seriously good footy..climbing the ladder and making a run . There was a hell of a lot of good press and good, nicey nicey feeling type stuff written about teh good ol' Dees. Unlike a lot of teams I dont hink there are a lot who hate us..more pity us really. But with the likes of Jurrah .and Watts..with Hopefully Scully and Trengove lighting up the middle with mentor Davey guiding them towards goal thenwe DO have the plausible potential of being a team that wil draw peopel to games simply to see the spectacle that is the show. We had it in years past with the Wiz, Jakovich..even Mad jacko.. they were all part of a show... well I think the shows about to come back to town our town..Melbourne In a few years the warnocks etc will be rueing there sillyness
-
This all goes back to what I thought some time ago...trade Week is going to be very interesting ...for a change ! oh..and p.s. and people ( some ) think its silly to keep that PSD1 up our sleeve.....oh yeah...much better to use pick 50 ( NOT !! )

in all fairness do you know how good Maric might be ?? I watched Maric a bit, at VFL and AFLgames and he has something. Before his injury I beleive as part of his experimentation Bailey not only wanted to harden him up a bit but to see how he faired away from his preferred goals. But goals are his territory and I would wager bailey was very careful not to let him spend to much time there...Now next year............
-
I'd kind of prefer to keep Maric too. we really havent seen the best of him yet. And to be quite frank.... these last two years havent been really conducive to allowing the best of near anyone to come out I think Maric still has it to become a lethal crumbing forward.. I salivate at the idea of Jurrah and Maric in the same forward line !!

TD..you have raised that ugly spectre..." the effect of GC and WS" ..and probably just as well you have as it will definitley colour our list. Something I probably had forgot to give enough weight to is who do we need to get as who is likely to be stolen from us. Greens current paper finishes end of 2011... he might get another year or so if we are looking at a cup.
-
?? not sure at all what you mean..as that which followed doesnt necessarily do it for me..lol OK..in Yarran instance he obviously was taken at 6 (Carltons first pick )was seen by many as being anywhere from that( well 7 actually ) through to about 15.(actually Quayle had him at times as 2 ) Now hes played real footy and can be evaluated further. Hes still young granted and obviously verytalented, but if he were to be sloted into this years draft he would by age fall down the list a tad. Possibly not even to past 17 but teams ( this year ) with first round picks might well go past himfor others.. He doesnt have quite the same currency this year as last. In that...hes closer to a 22 pick than a 6 ( this year )..certainly not a 2...not this year. But yes...eventually all picks are speculative.
-
Well it all comes down to doing due dilligence. You evaluate the kids.If after that you have a couple very reticent about moving..quite possibly , if you cant allay their prejudices, then give them a wide berth. You cant dismiss the talent pool that is Australia wide purely on the back that a couple may not stay. You Do have to take risks, but youmanage and minimise where possible. We wouldnt have Rivers Jamar,Meesen,....wouldnt have had Brown Dog,or the likes of Viney ..not for SA Its not to say you have to have them..its just common sense to evaluate them.
-
thanks for clarification.. I didnt realise he still had to nominate for the draft having been elevated., thought it was straight into the PSd.. Apparently not
-
far more stay...than go... and there was more to it than just home sickness I suggest. Its not so much really where they come from..its where their head is at.. relocation doesnt suit all, but many do just fine
-
Theres a huge diference between SA and WA !! and should we have not looked to the Far North and Middle ???
-
youve just provided the argument that its not out of his hands.. He CAN opt for the PSd..he has options.. He can ask the club what they are doing..and if not a suitable answer go elsewhere ( or put hand up to do so ) The Conundrum is really the clubs..not his.. I possibly didnt convey that before.
-
I suppose an issue regarding Valenti is how he sees all of this? Would he really want to rookie for another 2 years ?? Might he feel he has a chance in the PSD ? In reality he's done nothing wrong. He's probably fulfilled the expectaions ( possibly surpassed them ) of the club and still has upside. Thats more than some at the club !! Its a conundrum..
-
Personally im not too keen on looking past 34. WhatI might be inclined to do is see whos left etc..or invite some smokies.. to the club... geta good look at them..and offer a couple to be rookied. We know we will get two guns with our first two picks.. We have a bit of talent/potential still to come through. we wil undoubtedly add a couple of possibles with 18 and 34.. two more rookies should prove ok as far as our list goes this year. And if nothing else...its cheaper..
-
Iwould think pick 22 to be ok .. ought not peter out til after 30 or theres abnout.. Hell if they can get 6..woop de doo lol.. doubt it. Yarran strikes me as all potential..but unrealisable in foreign surrounds. I honestly suspect he would blossom in and around his 'family" they being those he grew up with and trusts /loves/likes /etc. Think the blue baggers are pushing it uphill and would be better to cut a loss and make best of it...and sooner rather than later. This year picks may be onoffer...good luck in years to come !! ( especially next 4 )..be too late then Still..what do I care if carlton bugger it up !!
-
I trust your sorry he has this bloke for a father and not for Malcolm himself ?? <_< It would make a lot more sense possibly for WCE to ofer up their 2nd round pick for Yarran, keeping their first. Pick 6is stil quite handy. carlton would then gain 22...also still handy whilst unloading a problem
