Cant beleive so many miss the obvious when discussing Bailey. seasons 08/09 he has had a particualr job to do...seasons '10 and beyond is a whole different ball game.

Sunday afternoon at the G at 2.10 begins the last game of the home and away season for Melbourne. Its the last game on teh hallowed ground before the following weeks finals. Of the two teams competing this day one looks to this September with legitimate expectations the other loks to games far more distant in time if finals are to be considered. Amazingly this is StKildas only outing at the G this year . It must seem strangely foreign and yet at the same time familiar. The Saints wil be expecting a result far better than their history agaisnt the home side would sugest . Having played 88 times at the G Melbourne have triumphed on 58 of those occurences but they were possibly in better times. It isnt without reason that StKilda sit atop the ladder and Melbourne diametrically at the opposite end on the bottom. The two sides will have only one thing in common this Sunday and thats the colur and shape of the ball. Stkildas window is firmly openand the breeze blows strong. Melbourne's is quietly closed for the moment awaiting the finishing touches to renovation before pushing it ajar. Whilst there ought to be a spirited contest only one team really has anything immediate to play for and I expect this to be very much a tune up and reminder of winning for the Saints. Melbourne will bid farewell to a trio of club stalwarts. Two different teams at two different moments in the evolutionary cycle called football. Barring further injurey to the Demons a valiant if unsuccessful day will probably play out with a recorded loss of 7-8 goals to the homeside.

Boak for Rivers...NO Boak for Rivers + 18.. it might interest them. or it may not..lol.. just putting it out there :D

some ludicrous standpooints here. Even the tribunal rules it was a reasonable bump...and that ought to be it..leave it there. But tehn this head thing comes into play. There was no intention to strike the head. it was in the act of a REASONABLE ( again, not my finding..the tribunals ) bump. To suggst he ought to have tackled is to < i think show no understanding of the nature or dynamics to say nothing of the speed of the game. SInce when ISNT a legitiate hip and shoulder part of the game ? The head contact was purely accidental if unfortunate...ffs its a contact game. Its not like Beny was at half height etc. IN the context and speed of the incident I reckon Buddy did bloody well to minimise the hit. This is another instance of how the lunatics have taken over the asylum. If the nancy boys get their way it will be sanitised beyond all recognition and wil end up a running kick to kick with lotteries used to decide who goes for an uncontested mark. Buddy's penalty is nothng short of bullsh!t !! Again.. teh hit was a legitimate tactic in the play of the game, it was deemed reasonable. The contact was accidental. Thats all there should be about it.

its all about 2010 and onwards get at it mate !!!
-
1 will do for now... then we can revisit this say mid 2011

Stability is certainly a word that sfits with it, for sure . I dont think Gaz could really complain, DB had/has a job to do. Its not one any of us would envy 'walking a fine line " between experimenting and that other word !! lol GL would be very up to speed on the value of the up and coming kids we already have, and the ones about to lob :D Theres nearly a whole handful of all but forgottens still waiting to roar. We havent seen Blease, Strauss, still much more to come from Wonna, Watts, Grimes, Cheney, Bail etc.. addd to this teh likes of Scully and Trengove and really theres a whole different nature to a side yet to do battle. It'll be this kind of side that ought to take strides next year. Im sure Bailey is just champing at the bit to really let loose with a real team with real instructions and no limitations. It wont happen overnight.. and I think a 2 year stint without constraints ought to see whether we're contenders or pretenders !!
-
think Id rather Boak and pick 23.. but it may be in the ball park of possible.
-
I know...phew !!! was worried about that Seriously though , if we can find a smokey from way out in the Never Never... why not one from Africa ?? If we dont.....I gaurantee some one else will !!
-
you realy are an idiot if you cant see nor understand progression. 4 this year , 7 next, 11 year after..etc.. This past two years hasnt been about winning games... or has that point eluded you ? So it hardly makes sense to include that in any case to dismiss. I think everyone can see who the fool is...
-
if he wins 7 next year...and 7 the following year..Iwould agree hes gone.. If he wins 7 next year with some close games.and wins 11 + in 2011 then we're wellon the way. Confucious say...better to have head in sand than up your arse !!!

OK.. for me the Rookie is a bit of a punt. They sometimes take longer or need more work done. They are projects for the most. One guy that fascinates me a bit is Majak Daw Club - Wyndhamvale Height - 193cm Weight - 84kg DOB - 11/3/91 A tall Sudanese player who has great athleticism. According to watchers he's really bulked up in the past two seasons.Skills a bit iffy but works on them. Known for some freaky things.. I keep thinking of Magumbwa ( South Fremantle ). Would love to se a Gumby type in red and blue. video highlights : read about him: Out of Africa Daw flies Jets to victory Seven learning to be stars Majak might be what AFLclubs want oh and btw.. he often plays Ruck or KPP(forward) ...and hes gotten this far in just 3 and a bit years.. !!! Mind boggles what he could do with top level coaching and mentoring.. If we are really clever, we'll rookie him and get him into our system

is there any real substance to Russian wanting to go ? or is this rumour upon rumour etc. would have thought he had cemented his position now and beaten out PJ as to who's a possible disposal
-
thats a bit one dimensional. hell , depends on nature of wins, against whom, depends if were competitive with consistency, etc We may have only lost a few games by points etc etc. Too many variable to make such a call. Youd think 7 not enough but lets wait to se how things go.

I have absolutely nothig to base this on.i.e solid info but I believe we will slightly better our third pick come trade time. either we'll improve that pick or gain a player to negate so much concern over it. I think we have to have those 2 mids. Our engine is OK but not premiership material. Do you go for another mid type in Jordan ( Gysberts) or look to groom someone in a specific role(s) So for me the question is... does pick 18 (or whateverit becomes ) of more value in the dradft or in trade?. And in trade, with a focus on a particular type.
-
you make a compelling argument... :D
-
Not that I intend to lose sleep, but it might be an intersting topic to come back to in 10 years. I still dont abide any argument that suggests teh inclusion of another team ( from Western Sydeney ) is going to increase, or indeed affect in any real orpositv way the value of the next TV deal. Ratings arent briliant for AFL in Syd, so how does this increase the deals value ?.Granted it does provide another game each week, but of what value ? I would think it made better sense to keep what ever money was made via the next TV deal, not spend mega millions on a basket case and distribute it to existing clubs. That benefits the MFC much more
-
I agree..Melb must do a lot of work to ensure the maximum value of its picks. As I see it as we have 1 and 2 we literally have teh pick of the bunch...after that who knows. So much will depend on trade week and the final composition of picks as to who may or may not still be around come 18. We need real quality in the middle.. Sculy and trengove will provide thatfor years to come. I think we will somply have to apply the old adage of "best player available " at 18, if indeed we still have 18
-
Another year is prudent and clever. It provides him with breathing space and us ( MFC ) with some accountability .............win/win
-
Though some might not beleive me I think it would be truly marvellous for the game should it be able to establish a foothold in that part of the world. I just cant see the logic financially. It will cost the AFL 100's of millions to provide for it. Is it going to get that and more back ?? I doubt it.. So from a business sense, wheres the logic ?
-
you arent related by any chance ? <_<
-
Every othert team coming ito the AFL has come about from a genuine interst of groups etc to expand an exisitng interest and follwing of teh game into its highest level of competition. GWS is simply teh AFL attempting to impose its will on the masses. It holds no water
-
Does who asked the Senate matter ? Does it invalidate their findings ? of course not. GWS stands for exactly nothing right at this moment,so why not grow it properly. Throwing it into the big ring at all but a moments notice is ridiculous. Previous entrants to teh AFL came fromsome real sense of identity and purpose, yes even GC. GWS is nothing.. why not let it start with something. You say this would be irreparable damaging . On what basis ?
-
More than a fair effort there, somewhere else I noted Talia might go top 10...funny you did that too. What will become interesting is that I doubt that the picks wil remain in that club order after trade week. So the new-order will change the colour of picks..i.e differing priorites from clubs ,exactly as you point out. Going to be intersting.
