  3. Eade has ruled it out !!
  4. jurrahhhhhhhhhhhhhh mercurial
  5. do none of our guys understand SHEPHERDING !!!
  6. great mark..good goal Robbo
  7. some of our decision making is just deplorable
  8. ok Bails.... lets let the kids play properly
  9. how was that not shepherding the ball?? ( fev goal )
  10. definitely showcasing !!! his trade value goes up by the second :)/ jsut when he comes good too..ffs.. <_<
  11. Carlton said during week they would focus a bit on containing Jurrah. Not that fussed...but how come Carlton are wearing away strip..?? Happy we arent though ..forget this bit... pic on AFL site obviously wrong...lol ..my bad
  12. without winning it would be nice to take it up to them .. just see where some of our chaps really are as it were. Jamar going well..is he 'showcasing' himself ??? hmmm
  13. so far....wtf...3.1 a piece... Mr Bailey...do your stuff
  14. If Master Matt is top 50..then Jurrah is unmeasurable ..lol begs question though..top 50 what ?
  15. who to trade..?? picks ?? there simply is no hard and fast nor easy answer. everything is interconnected..team wise. it all depends on what all the various FD's see as their needs and their excesses. Trade week kind of grows organically. Starts with mayeb one or two simple trades then blossom into convluted deals ..often hanging on club A dealings with club F then and only then can D trade or offer G anything etc.. If Jamar wants to be traded then we look to a deal with whom ever offers us teh best currency..either for pick or a player we need/can on-trade etc. Valenti will either be promoted or will walk into the draft.Spencer I can see us retaining/elevating. Do we get anything for Valenti in that scenario ? I dont think so ...happy to be corrected. If Robbo goes to another club Im not sure on any implications there either. We may get something as he's still contracted through the trade period I believe. I can see us shopping Miller and Newton, Barttram PJ, Bell, Buckley, Jones and Petterd This isnt to say you necessailry want rid of ANY...it just may be prudent to take top whack wilst they have improved currency due to perceived draft failings ( from other clubs perspectives ) i.e. Strike whilst iron hot...its what Hawthorn did..its what we must learn to do. its the business of football..nothing more...nothing less.
  16. Imnot sure that itsw one or other with Spencer and Valenti...but there is merit in that thinking. Will depend upon what sort of balance and depth the FD is looking for in the midfield. If you trade a playe and a pick for two picks.. arguably one further down the list then that in turn can be combine with another to possibly better the quality of one pick. There will be some clubs just clammering for picks.. We are lucky..we have a bonus one and they are early ones.. Not all clubs have this. Soe cant be ultimately too too fussy even in a bad(shallower) draft as they will some stocks..!!
  17. well.. maybe its a process of elimination Spencer is a keeper.. ruck stocks Mckenzie .is showing a bit. Valenti will either be promoted ( offered) or traded.. he may or not be the space created by trade deals. It a bit iffy though as Im not 100% how the inclusion of Rookies in the draft and how they are currently affected in trading. ( Happy for clarifiaction here ) Healy's been hamstrung with injury Hughes .. occasional glimpses Zomer not exactly setting any thing on fire I would say Trent is the man in the danger zone. Am thinking whoever is the worst of those coming off their 2 years will be told to just keep walking
  18. I cant see all of the current rookies remaining.. 1 will go. I forsee some inspired trading in such a fashion as we not only reduce our list but improve a pick. It will be a double win in that sense. I still think we wil have 6 new faces at Melbourne for 2010.. that means one player is simply delisted to fulfill this. Whelan, Wheatley, Robbo (3)...... trade to increase spot (4) rookie delisting (5) a player delisted (6)
  19. Memo to the Melbourne Football Club. Seldom in my lifetime have I been really quite so excited about what the coming year will ( not might ) bring. You havent had much of a go at advertising ...but this..THIS ( well after the draft and going into Christmas and early next year )is the time. Have a word to the two major sponsors..or a new third Get some footage of Liam Jurrah turning it on..both in Melbourne colours and his Yuendumu days..or maybe Darwin.. ( think he wasnt wearing balck and white then ?) . To the strains of "Come on baby light my fire " Start with moody images of Liam back in his home.. around a campfire.. .. Boys talking their game up... twisiting flicking a footy. Glints in eyes.. a didgerydoo lamenting the "light my fire".. fade to Liam taking specky..after specky.. in say Darwin..( or where footage available... the crowds excitement growing .... the "light my fire " refrain becoming more to the fore...... scene moves to the MCG..with Liam turning it on.. Crowds exstatic.. .."COME ON LIGHT MY FIRE !! "" the only words spoken .. "Melbourne ....... the fire's lit, join us in 2010' fade to the Demon image coming forth from burning goals. Liam certainly has put a fire into this team in ways unfathomable
  20. A great article. bits like: "We have coaches here at Yuendumu, he has been coached all his life," Badger says. "It's just that up here they get coached in how to play Yuendumu footy, it's a positive, running game where they are encouraged to attack and take risks. "In Melbourne, football is about percentages, but when you've been taking speccies since you were four and been bending bananas in from the boundary every day of your life, that is the percentage option. "While all the white fellas are there practising set shots from 35m, ours are practising banana after banana." and very poignantly "It was never clear to Collingwood what happened, but Jurrah told The Weekend Australian it was not homesickness. "One of my best friends was dying," he said. "I went back to be with him." Jurrah nursed his friend and when the teenager said he wanted to see a game of football in Melbourne before he died he took him to the big smoke to show him what he had been doing. When they returned home his friend died and Jurrah buried him and stayed to mourn with his people. " Just speaks volumes for the quality of this bloke as a human being. I feel priveledged to barrack fora team who this man calls his new footy home. It was never clear to Collingwood what happened, but Jurrah told The Weekend Australian it was not homesickness. "One of my best friends was dying," he said. "I went back to be with him." "No scout had been to see him play with Yuendumu in the Central Australian Football League, but when he signed up for three games with Nightcliff in the Darwin competition on a fly-in-fly-out basis three scouts saw his last game." History tells us we ( MFC ) were there...and you can only imagine the reaction as they picked their jaws up and uttered " W... T.. F... !!!!! Memo to Melbourne...instead of figuring out what to teach this guy...wonder what he can teach us !!!

    Jamar

He wants to go ? Anyone know why ?? assuming any validity to this

    Jamar

just as anaside, when folks are debating or calculating the worth of X or Y player keep in mind the pick we get in exchange may not end up being the one we use as it in turn may be retraded( uprgaded ) . Also the various packaging of players and picks is often teh go. Jamar for a round 2 might be realistic... Or it might be Jamar and some sort of pick for 'their' player plus a beteer pick etc. Its not all that straightforward this game of trade
  24. I do like your preference there Jaded, to take captaincy off of Junior and have him earn his spot. He may of course stay inleadership group and be very capable i would imagine. No one ought to be an automatic start..no one..it breeds complacency
  25. not a lot of years back when Hollywood departed Jared steped into the breach and acquitted himself very well, and he had some shoes to fill as despite many things that Biz wasnt..a good reader and director of the ball he was. Rivers was the new defensive general. Then the wheels fell off with injury, his pace diminished and his ability to be as effective lowered. For mine he hasnt got back there. he may,,,but he might not. Clouds hover. For me its a comparison of posibilities and potential..and here Boak will eclipse Rivers. Value v Value its worth looking at trades.
