I dont beleive anyone would argue the notion of defending ones own. But there is a cost and effort. This seems to go unacknowledged by not only many who arent Melbourne but even amongst our numbers.Its all goes to the idea that we ( the club ) did indeed invest of itself and arguably above its normal requirements in order to meet the situation as it evolved. To have any suggest we didnt is not only a blatant lie, its bordering on libelous. To add insult to this would it would seem we have no public acknowledgement by the party(s) concerned that this was indeed the case. Ill be very kind here and suggest thats simply not fair. In reality we ( the club ) were put in an almost untenable position yet we stood firm and thick with Liam and wore more than a fair share of mud for it all. Still do. Then after all this its , oh yeah...im off..cya That quite frankly is f*#ked !!! Whats happened has happened. So be it. Its whats happening now !!

Irrespective of who paid for representation ( and I seriously doubt it was LJ, but thats a personal aside ) Who paid for the time and associated costs of MFC personnel accompanying him etc. The club put a lot of time and effort ( cost money ) in shoring him up. all for ???

Its been a funny year. A Keating year... lol Very cathartic !! Not much on the scoreboard as they say , but its been all about what s happening in the rooms this year. I wasnt concerned before the season started about wins. it wasnt about wins. I know some think in a terribly simplistic way. If we arent winning were losing. A certain reality to that but irrelevent to what this season was about. Never was about wins. It was about finding out about the players. This has been done. Now the next phase. This is actually exciting. Something REAL Something progressive. ahhh Progress theres something different

Old...I think weve enetered that twilight zone that is the EOS. Especially the finals' weeks where theres only so much that can occur as much often included players of the competing teams. We have what amounts to a leap-liek year occurence whereby no Senior coach is on the block, things remain rather calm and the ususal suspects make a ruckus in the cheap seats. Its a bit like the 7 stages of grieving. Season ends, there's murmurs, theres rumours and a truck load of speculation. All the "in the knows" come out of the woodwork. Why are they never around much 'during' the season? lol . Some who seldon post suddenly come to life and the rest of us go fishing for the gems. The net is often empty. Theres a few events of late Im already over. That actually surprises myslef somewhat but theres just no point worrying about so many things is there

The Marngrook show is actually in the main quite interesting as they do spend a bit more time on the football as opposed the circus. But there are definitely aspects to it where the views are , how shall I put this, a little one dimensional and self serving

1) theres no IF ..open your eyes and look around. How has Neeld gone too soft in previous years ..I question both the soft...and years by all means castigate Bailey.. but Neelds only get his real chance this year. he had to be rather prudent and circumspect last eos. hed only been here 5 mins and by own words wanted a good look at players to evaluate for himself, not relyin gon others or reputations Given teh cull has hardly started , you may well be jumping the gun The guys who will remain WIL have shown they are both committed and capable. Thats Neelds very criteria. You may need to pay closer attention to whats actually happening as opposed your take on it.

Possibly the difference now is theres some tangible change and shift in criteria. Weve often got excited about the prospects of the new year but in reality it was very much a hope and prayer thing. I dont see it this way this time. I can actually see things are changing its not just rhetoric. Im very interested as many are to see the list after the silly season. Bring it on

Dpos .. Im sure Neeld is all for plyers using theire skills and undoubtedly takes into consideration but Im thinking he wants workers. Skills alone wont cut it. Still, well all know how clever our interpretive abilities are in a couple of months

I think much of the evidence needed is/was before us. There were any number of opportunities to play in our team this year for anyone who showed the right stuff. But Neeld was unerring in his prerequisite of having bought in. Those who Didnt/hadn't /wouldn't simply got kept down til they figured it out.... or sought out. Gys will go if a trade viable or wallow in the magoos til he sees the light. Neeld did empower all his charges with at least one thing. Choice Its been up to all to make their path.

ive been wrong before. I know that'll come as a shock lol.Purely observational but it strikes me Neeld has a handful of non negotiables when it comes to his players. You either do or you dont with all of them. Players attempting to play these on THEIR terms get told rather bluntly how well this will work for them. Im guessing Gys doesn't fit the mould. Others do or have altered to do so. Neeld doest have the time to be bothered with non conformality, nor should he. Its his way ( as empowered by the club ) or the highway . The Geelong Rd looks the go.

If the recruiting mob think hes up to scratch then its a tick. Who knows how the events at Port have affected anyone also. Some say the same of us I acknowledge.
