  1. hmm...wonder whos going NEXT year..... lol(sorry...couldnt resist )
  2. also...dare i pursue the line of thinking. The FD would more than likely be weighing up the pros and cons of Jared leaving. i.e would the compensation validate aloowing him to go ? its a bit like moving from one escalator to another ...which one has better upside ? Neeld and Co are at the beginning of a journey...they might be happy with a lot more new faces rather than fewer. We'll only know ( to some degree ) once the dust settles and we know our list going into next year. Wed definitely know the year after as thered b eno doubt of intentions versus opportunities.
  3. GNF. Youre harping on via a cut and paste. We heard it the first time and many of us dont subscribe to it.Youdont help your cause by repeating it ad nauseum. As mentioned byanother you seem oblivious to the counter view. You make a claim that15 might go. I put it to you that thats a GOOD thing. Its probably the one thing about 3/4 of the forum members woud agree to. There HAS to be radical change to the playing list. Like it or not, for whatever reason or other the current lot arent going far.
  4. he'll come back...you know he will...now stop it !!! lol
  5. Stuie regarding Rivers ( FA) ..I think Neeld is in all reality just acknowedging the bloody obvious.. No Elephants in the room etc. Interstingly though in anything ive seen on this Neeld is happy to suggest they can ,but wont match any Moloney bid..I.e hes free to go. No such utterances regarding Jared.Make of that what ever you like. I think its a case of ..Well you are free to look and go, but wed like you to stay. up to you etc. I dont think hes 100% irreplacable, nor do I suspect does Neeld think he is. Neeld would also be a realist and understand its hard to make only gains out of this new world of FA
  6. I agree 100% with this.Mind you there were a lot of players not doing their job and as a result players ( and there were more than just Davey ) were leftr swinging in the breeze. Funny you mentioned Neita as I see a lot of the similar 'protectionism" in Clark
  7. Stuie...for what its worth Id gladly eat crow, ( even philth ) and be absolutely wrong. Id love for these kids to come out and play mesmerising footy. Ive got no problem what soever with genuine reasons for anything. its when the old excuse cart gets wheeled out, and not once, but time and time again. Not saying particularly in Jordans case , but many get this GOOJ card ( seemingly ) In the end im a pragmatist. if it looks liek it will take a long effort to realise what shouldnt take so long then Im all for trading on, in a fashion cutting a loss. Though I agree loss maybe to hefty a word but its along those lines. I'll use the analogy of a plantation forest where you plant en mass. After a while you get rid of the sapplings that havent come on, then after a further period you cull the lesser of the trees in order for the better positioned ones to survive and flourish. In order to maintain a crop you plant more ..and on you go. I see a footy list as very similar. with different players at different points in their 'life' cycle. Those that are taking too long to get off the ground make way for those that will/might. You cant persevere with everyone. You have to make a call at some point. Im probably like you in wanting to see devvelopment under Neeld. Maybe Jordan will with another full preseason. Im just not sold yet. if he does...well we all win...and good for us ( all)
  8. we all seem to want wholesale change but many dont want to change much; go figure. One often dictates the need for the other
  9. that and , as I think DOF was alluding the game swung around and he got the yips and lost the drive to hurt other team in the sense of making their life a merry hell.A massive loss of confidence. Yes, I suppose if your main weapon was alarming speed and you dont have it you leave yourself as a target...and he was. Sometimes its just attitude and not accepting to be a vicitm
  10. I must admit I wasnt concerned one iota when such a number was mooted. I myself only have 31 of the current list still there next season ( possibly more as a wish than anything ) but If the broom sweeps...let it sweep !!
  11. yes..he went from the hunter to the hunted. Not so good .
  12. The crux was. North were able to take advantage of a newly created thing, the 10 year rule. That made them.Neeld is looking to replicate things to some degree by making some advantage out of FA. Whether thats by the direct import of FA's or picking up pieces fronm its fallout.. Mouse will be looking to the market also but i sense they willbe top shelf buying where we'll be a bit more circumspect and looking for the bargains. Now sometimes bargains cost a lot too, just theyre cheaper than the market thought etc. Or theyre an odd size and discount bin etc. Micks no fool. A 3 year cruise ( or is that Krueze ? ) then off to the media again. No dummy at all. He and Judd will probably see it out together .
  13. Anyone would think at times we're talking about some local footy club or platoon squaddies or best mates scout troop etc. We're actually talking about a business thats called the Melbourne Football Club. Whilst seeming impersonating a bunch of amateurs for years its actually a professionally run multi-million dollar business in the field of elite competitive sport. Its about getting the work done...and done to a standard. Loyalty.?? I think many have far to a romantic notion of what all this is about. For sure a team will build bonds. Its actually encouraged. These persons are paid. Its their job. A job only a damn few lucky ones get to live out and be rewarded incredibly well for. This notion of loyalty is misplaced I feel. Its really about respect. Theres the respect for yourself and what you owe yourself to do well and try. The respect to be gained from your fellow team mates for doing your best in the combined efffort. Respect for those who seek to empower you and mentor you through your career and the respect you may gain from the club for honouring your part of the committment in this accord. This isnt about some sort of compact between a band of brothers , thats loyalty. Were talking about doing your job properly and doing what is asked of you, in return for a lot of lolly.
  14. Gysberts is 21 yo 19 games Tommy Mac 19 22 games Trengove 21 ( just ) 59 games Watts 21 55 games Tappscott 29 games Blease 21 21 games source mfc theyre really just numbers. You could mount arguments for all sorts of things.
  15. it smacked of a 5 yo not getting her lollies and having a tanty !!
  16. Still , in a way it makes sense a Malthouse woud be connected with a mob called carlton ! lol
  17. Still, credit where due , he is training to give himself the best chance. That in itself is the right attitude. I wonder what others are doing.
  18. Id essentially go along with this. I would though possibly temper it with the notion Neeld is after some mature players on the field to hold sway at times.if Aaron can get himself to the required level of fitness then he may well be of value in 2013. Its an IF. But I do agree that its a case of Davey being of use to the club not the club being used by him (or any others ) just as a career extender. It will be purely down to fitness...and the fitting of things
  19. as in mark of the year >>> Neeld ??vote Mark 1
  20. essentially, but Id really like to know what its like to win a premiership in my lifetime.Winning isnt everything, truly, lol. But the abiltiy to compete and win is. Theres no real other reason for a sporting club( at this level) to exist other than to compete, and by so doing aspire to win. Winning is the vehicle that can result in premierships and that is the prize after all.
  21. Its funny how some get it arse about !! ( sts ) Mind you they are probably the ones who still think the tail should wag the dog !!
