  1. probably..a show of hands ??
  2. Ben Im surprised.. For as long in recent times as many of us can muster memory for just about anything that that despot Sheahan has had to say about the Melbourne Football Club has been derisive, scandalous, divisive in nature and about as agenda driven as a hack can get. And you base your supposition that the Club was negligent on the basis of his utterings ?? ffs
  3. as concrete as clay....similar to another substance !!
  4. Pretty well sums up most of the rubbish being espoused about all the what-ifs and should-ofs.I would probably agree with you like many that Neeld would have and will build a list with types differing markedly from many of the failures weve had of recent years
  5. Id have to wonder if Neeld wont hedge bets to some degree and look to get a "couple" of older types who may well only have those couple of years of real effect whilst using "most" to sow for the future. I dont think he will want to keep on losing for the hell of it. If we can get some respectability introduced into our gamesmanship and win more than a handful this 'positiveness" may help fuel and drive the rebuild. i.e success breeds success No one expects miracles for next year but we HAVE to get up off the floor. Some mature experienced capable types need to be got. This will go totally contrary to a previous metric whereby no older players were sought. We need to learn from mistakes.
  6. i see your 90...and raise to 99
  7. yip !!!
  8. you do realise the first part provides for why the second part doesnt always occur ??
  9. i wonder if there should be a poll about having polls ?
  10. you'se got to knows when to hold em...............
  11. Let it be Oats then ...... and they can all Quaker when confronted with what lays ahead !!
  12. it began some whiles ago
  13. you might have to think about it......but Im sure most will get it !!!
  14. So wtf has he been doing all bloody year ? contemplating buying in ? thinking about giving it his all ( and more )Weve finished a mighty 16th. The lowest of any established team. And heres a lad supposedly gushing with talent and ability and he cant convince the selctors to give him much of a trot when we delved deep into the bottom of our barrel week in week out > What gives. Keep in mind these same said selctors [censored] Moloney off to the magoos becuase he wouldnt do what was asked of him, Watts was dropped till he "got it', Brad rejuvenated himslef in teh ressies till he came good also. There was a path that was open to all to take. Some did , some didnt. In the end this is all about the player as the opportunites and pathways were the same for one and all. The criteria you had to pass in order to play was the same for one and all. FdeD im not having issues with yourself just the notion that its now that they are sifting. Theyve been sifitng all year. They KNOW whos wheat, whos chaff. Not a lot of wheat by the way
  15. yep.. There can be no sort-of, kind-of , in the maiin , Buying in. You buy in or you dont.
  16. am fully aware he is technically stil on our list. I even mentioned this on several other threads. But as he can step aside and walk into the draft of his own accord we have no real call on him. There is also the situation whereby had he signed a new contract he would be untradable unless he was to agree to it. Why would you sign with club A only to go to B when you could do what you like ( or need ). Mind you he could have donne that had it been his want to provide compensation to a club that had provided much for him. He didn't , hasnt , wont ...take your pick. Matters not for what is...IS. Much of what many suggest here is purely fantasy based upon their "wished for" , or "what might be" with no real recognition of what IS. There is no trading Liam for theres no certainty he will go anywhere next year. Hes getting off the train.
  17. A little too simple for some obviously. You cant trade what you dont have. thats it...over and out
  18. Or is it possibly a case that theres been a consitency running through a lot of our previous drafting...i.e They thought they saw something, but were wrong. ?? AN absolute consistency about much of our so called 'development" up to recent times is that it seems ( to this humble observer ) to take 2-3 years more than leading clubs to bring on the 'potential' of draftees Seems to me more than a handful of our players just dont have footy smarts, something Id be wanting as a given in order to play AFL level footy. Also seems our predescessor recruiting had a knack for selecting players that didnt seem to have elite work ethics. So many lobbed and seemed to think their "abilities" alone might get them a gig, as opposed to "youve been drafted, lucky you, now thre REAL work starts". What is this "BUYING IN " reaaly about if not understanding that you have to work your lilly white butt ( or whatever hue it may be..lol ) off and listen to the coach (s) and do what they say, not what you intepret. Its not like this kid has only been around 5 mins, nor that hes been starved of opportunities So this leaves me thinking the only reason(s) are,Gys doesnt really have the ticker for it, or hes just not that good.
  19. not a time for speculation, lets wait id respectfully suggest
  20. Yes, some in their excitement are neglecting to remember that just because our seasons ended there are others whos hasnt. We're still weeks away from the 'real' week of trade even though there is undoubtedly some back room shenanigans already under way. it does pay to keep some of your powder dry after all.
  21. There are some seriously benign threads on this forum from time to time This is one
  22. another sensible and logical post on these boards....whats this forum coming to ?
