  1. Yes, Clinton Young. Can't see Foley or Scotland leaving their respective sides.
  2. If we can bring in Cloke, Caddy / Boak, two quality mids (say Toumpas and Wines) and Viney then our side would have a remarkably different look in 2013.
  3. Anyone extolling the virtues of Salopek needs to have a good look at the bruise-free footy he likes to play. Absolutely not. From the list of those still available: Cloke Goddard Young Pearce Knights Byrnes Are the most likely to be on the move and on demand you'd think. I've totally come around to the idea of Cloke. Costs is nothing other than salary cap - and it might as well be someone who takes more contested marks in the comp that we pay the big bucks to instead of the plethora of pedestrian players that blight our current list.
  4. Been watching this kid since he was 14. Whoever lands him will be ecstatic - skilled, speedy and tough. The only knock on him is his height and that's only because of the perceived notion that you have to be over 6 foot 3 to make it in modern footy, which is an absolute fallacy. Unless we trade it for Boak or Caddy, hoping he slides to that ~13 pick and we draft him. He could be as good as Boomer or Crawford, who started off as a small forward before becoming jet midfielders.

  6. Good stuff. Now they need to teach him to gut-run both ways for 4 quarters. His pace and goal-kicking ability makes him a very exciting prospect.
  7. Ah, Ferguson, he should be with us already...
  8. And Robbie Tarrant too. We just have to hope that Cook comes good, and doesn't become Nick Smith mk 2 like I fear.
  9. Was a jet as a kid, was rated as highly as Swallow. Has been injured or on the outer at GC17 - Bluey is not a fan, but Toy is not a back flanker despite what Bluey thinks is his best position. Lots of questions re his work rate.
  10. well done on a career that few have had. interesting to hear robbo on 360 say he liked melbourne, but he loves richmond. if he had been able to kick more than 35m he would've made a very good footballer.
  11. Would do that deal in a heartbeat. Can't see GC17 wanting Bail tho - his foot skills are terrible and he wouldn't improve their side.
  12. Still reckon it will be Cats or Power for him.
  13. Since he took that hit he's not found a contest he doesn't want to run away from. Avoid at all costs. He makes Morton look hard.
  14. Poor doesn't begin to describe our recruiting. And on top of it there's been a lack of development compounding the drafting.
  15. it's very sad to see what's become of beamer this year. i honestly wonder whether or not he'll want a fresh opportunity himself. he could easily find a spot in our midfield, in port adelaide's midfield, gc17, gws, footscray's midfield - but the thing to note is that they're all the bottom sides. he's not a top tier midfielder.
  16. has been a terrific servant of the club, and had a couple of terrific seasons. i wish him best in his retirement...but i must admit i do expect to see him running around for gws next season.
  17. I'm not a massive fan - I see him as part of the boys club that I still think dominates our club - but I'm not opposed to this. Stability is key.
  18. just read that; sounds like if it doesn't work then it could spell the end of him. poor bugger. never a star, but his first season in 06 was unreal til he snapped his ankle just about in half in the final round, and missed the finals as a result. some of his tagging jobs that year were sensational. has never been the same since - clearly that knee is cactus. all the best to clint.
  19. i can't believe just how bad we are. gc17 will beat us at the g on form like this. appalling.
  20. good grief there's some incompetency on show tonight. it's hard to watch it's so bad.
  21. difficult conditions, but some of the skills on show are appalling. after watching the hawks clinically cut the pies to pieces on the mcg this arvo, you realise how far off it we are.
  22. I've got pretty good mail on both sides of the fence - one is adamant he's headed to the cattery and the other has him remaining ay Alberton! Still hoping he winds up at the Dees.
  23. It's looking increasingly likely that Boak will stay, Cloke will stay, and Caddy will stay, plus Viney will end up available as our second round pick. The only way I could see us giving up #4 is if it gave us access to one of the under 17 kids from WA. But I expect GC17 to try for one of them, and someone else to get the other by trading a player rather than another pick. So the dream draft of Toumpas, Wines, Kennedy and Viney could come to fruition, presuming we hold onto our current parlous position.
  24. i want him. he's a gun mid, who gets the ball, delivers the ball, and kicks goals. like jones, he's been left to solder together some form of midfield with little to no help. a midfield of boak, jones, jmc2.0, trengove, grimes, viney, at least one other class recruit from this draft, plus hopefully gysberts (who i think has enormous potential - such a dirty word!) is potentially (there it is again!) very exciting. i would imagine everything will come down to whether he's determined to go to geelong or not. my opinion still remains that it's the cats or the power for trav. given our parlous ladder position, we are of course in the ideal spot to nab him if he does become available, having #4, #14 to play with. a lot will come down to viney's f/s selection - if we can get him with our second round pick, then #3 and #4 makes for an even better bargaining position. in an ideal world we keep both of those, get boak for #13, and viney for our second round pick. essendon want him - they chased him hard last time - but will have to commit to daniher with their first round selection, which would be far too late to satisfy port regardless. footscray might be in with a shot if they want to trade their first pick, but i would doubt it. we shall see.
