Based upon following the 'logic' of King's thinking, what about: 3 and 21, plus 4 when Frawley goes. Trade Toumpas gives us pick 14 from Port - I'd do that before his value falls Grimes and Watts to Footscray or Carlton - instead of say an Essendon, who hold around pick 12 - for pick 5 or 6 and a player who can be straight into 22, say Dalhaus / Wallis / Hunter from Footscray, or Levi Casboult (who I doubt Blues would give up)? That'd leave us with 3 and 4, 5/6, 14 and 21. I would then look at trading 4 and 5/6 for another couple of ready made body, Shiel being the one I would love to get, plus another (say Jaksch or Tomlinson, O'Rourke).
-
It was weird, he was talking about 5 picks inside 21, but I don't see that there.
-
King says - pick 3 and 21 - chip leaves, get pick 4 - pick 20-25 for Watts (Maclure said don't trade him) - Toumpas on the table, King says Port's first pick, possibly not on his own, and Maclure thinks he's worth 2 or 3rd round - Trengove or Grimes for a second round pick, upgraded first round pick alongside Watts / pick for Watts Interesting.
-
Maclure says we need to start attacking and taking the game on, kicking to contests. King said that we just have meandered over the last 6-7 weeks. Maclure reckons the players are sick of defensive mindset first.
-
Blind faith in Roos was King's assessment at this stage based on the 'disastrous' stats, particularly in terms of pressure at the end of games (last quarters). Any other coach and there'd be questions raised.

Still no Robbo on 360. Why not just admit that he's been put on gardening leave? -

i personally wouldn't be surprised if we end up having to use our second round pick on him. still think he'll be worth it. -

Some Essendon fans are just plain ol' delusional. Apparently the club were very happy with Hird's evidence yesterday, and today Adruska painted asada into a corner. Just can't fathom it! -

has been brilliant since the win against the crows. well deserved. -
defense: - a running half-back flanker with excellent decision making who regularly pinpoints disposal over 40m midfield: - depth - class - skill - speed - strength forward: - a tall marking target with excellent mobility - minimum of two rangy half-forwards who can move through the midfield - a small forward capable of providing defensive intensity as well as regular goalkicking nous ruck: - a ruckman who can float forward. now, in saying all this, there's no reason to actually think that with another year's development why we don't already have the above on our list. it's just a matter of getting the development right, and hoping that - if they are to stay on the list (and i imagine the likes of strauss, blease and potentially tapscott and toumpas are unlikely to be at the club in 2015) that they are developed in the right manner. unfortunately, many of the names listed below have thus far shown to be incapable of going to the requisite level: defense: - a running half-back flanker with excellent decision making who regularly pinpoints disposal over 40m - strauss? toumpas? salem? jkh? midfield: - depth - yeah, okay, this one is an issue no matter which way you try to paint it - this is where the draft will be super-important, but we're starting to build it with the likes of tyson and vince in 2014 joining n jones and viney, while riley and michie looks promising - class - salem? toumpas? jkh? trengove? - skill - salem? toumpas? jkh? trengove? barry? - speed - jkh? blease? hunt? barry? - strength - trengove? tapscott? forward: - a tall marking target with excellent mobility - hogan? watts? - minimum of two rangy half-forwards who can move through the midfield - salem? toumpas? trengove? tapscott? blease? m jones? kent? - a small forward capable of providing defensive intensity as well as regular goalkicking nous - jkh? ruck: - a ruckman who can float forward - gawn?

i'm actually more bullish on watts being successful at the demons this time this year than i was this time last year. i think he's playing the role that roos has set out for him, and playing a team role. yes, he can get better; still goes to ground too easily, seems to lack urgency around the contest, doesn't tackle with intent. but his repeat leading and effort has been pretty consistent in 2014. i now see him as part of our future rather than the past.

Wright loves a physical contest. He has a massive frame too. My big concern is how's he going to go against men rather than boys? -

Classified was interesting last night - they have significantly less support coaching staff with about 25 years less experience than compared to a hawthorn. With all their kids they should have way, way more. -

I think the thing is, getting a rare tall talent is harder than 'fixing' the midfield. Look at this year - astute trading netted us Tyson and Vince who were able to improve our midfield from the get go. Whereas we had no one to replace Hogan and Clark, other than taking ostensibly out best defender and turning him into (I believe) our most effective forward. Perhaps that's why Wright appeals - someone who is capable of playing key forward and going into the ruck is pretty rare. And he has a lovely kick on him. That being said, our midfield is just so lacking in skill and speed... -

Pick 2 and 3 / 3 and 4 would not affect Sydney's ability to draft Isaac Heeney at all. Academy bidding, like father-son, is done compared to actual draft selection, and conducted prior to trade period. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-07-17/key-trade-draft-and-free-agency-dates Would be very happy to get Reid, but would definitely want something else. Reid and Malceski for pick 3 or 4 would be worth considering. -

Strauss makes Daniel Bell look a quality afl level player. He's no chance to be on the list next year.
