God Slobbo is a stain.

Reminds me of when we let gc17 run rings around us for their first win at the G. We are woeful.
-
I reckon we might be cooked. Bad kicking is bad football.

Barry is going okay. Seems to have football 'smarts'.
-
Terrible luck for Patton. No way gws will be wanting to give up Cameron or Boyd now.
-
Nice to see Watts do repeat efforts and get the reward.

Players to target at the end of the year

agree re melksham. super-average player. gary rohan is in some fine, fine form - essentially has now taken the role that andrejs everitt was playing at the swans, and is the obvious replacement if malceski does leave them. he's so quick. can't see swans letting him go. -
Despite the giants engaging in some serious list management, I remain doubtful of how we can kick a winning score. Our midfield will be seriously outclassed I fear.

always liked him, happy to see him doing well. didn't agree with trading him away at the time, but i've got used to players starring once they leave us, so i'm not surprised.

Players to target at the end of the year

O'Keefe sounded depressed about not getting a game currently. Would he be in our best 22? Absolutely, I say. Delisted free agent, come on down. -
We won't if no one nominates him below us.

Every mark I saw him go at last week was one-handed, and he turned it over time and time again. Morton-esque performance. Let's see how he goes in the remainder of the season, but at this stage he'd have the same value as a Toumpas - probably second rounder.

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>

What I don't get is that if little wants the whole thing to 'go away', then answer the show cause notices. He's already said that they believe the players didn't take illegal substances, so why not let it be investigated? I personally would like wada to handle it, as asada have shown to be gloriously incapable of conducting an investigation - leave it to the governing body. Even if Essendon do manage to get the interviews etc thrown out, the whole thing will just begin again. I would have thought that with Essendon being part of the afl, as the governing body is a signatory to the wada code they would be entitled to oblige and cooperate with any investigation. Which to be honest I thought was what they did as part of a joint investigation. I have no idea how this is going to play out. -

very interesting read. more balanced an idea than wanting to pair with the yankees. -
The 2014 AFL National Draft

no, it really wouldn't. but i could definitely see it happening. the waite to north rumour has been around since the start of the year. it makes sense - for whatever reason, they think they're a smidge off premiership contention with their aging 30+ year olds still the core of their team, so why not continue to top up? i can't see it ending well... and saints have been quite clear that pick 1 is on the table, and boyd has been rumoured to be unhappy up north since january. it'd make sense, and give gws ANOTHER top pick. it's just ridic, really. there's also the story in the oz today that footscray are throwing a fortune at patton to get him to leave. -
Based upon following the 'logic' of King's thinking, what about: 3 and 21, plus 4 when Frawley goes. Trade Toumpas gives us pick 14 from Port - I'd do that before his value falls Grimes and Watts to Footscray or Carlton - instead of say an Essendon, who hold around pick 12 - for pick 5 or 6 and a player who can be straight into 22, say Dalhaus / Wallis / Hunter from Footscray, or Levi Casboult (who I doubt Blues would give up)? That'd leave us with 3 and 4, 5/6, 14 and 21. I would then look at trading 4 and 5/6 for another couple of ready made body, Shiel being the one I would love to get, plus another (say Jaksch or Tomlinson, O'Rourke).
-
It was weird, he was talking about 5 picks inside 21, but I don't see that there.
-
King says - pick 3 and 21 - chip leaves, get pick 4 - pick 20-25 for Watts (Maclure said don't trade him) - Toumpas on the table, King says Port's first pick, possibly not on his own, and Maclure thinks he's worth 2 or 3rd round - Trengove or Grimes for a second round pick, upgraded first round pick alongside Watts / pick for Watts Interesting.
-
Maclure says we need to start attacking and taking the game on, kicking to contests. King said that we just have meandered over the last 6-7 weeks. Maclure reckons the players are sick of defensive mindset first.
-
Blind faith in Roos was King's assessment at this stage based on the 'disastrous' stats, particularly in terms of pressure at the end of games (last quarters). Any other coach and there'd be questions raised.

Still no Robbo on 360. Why not just admit that he's been put on gardening leave? -

i personally wouldn't be surprised if we end up having to use our second round pick on him. still think he'll be worth it.
