  1. collingwood is the big rumour according to pretty much everyone.
  2. finally, we have a youngster who's able to come in and make an immediate impact! admittedly had two years in the system, but he had a fresh energy to him that was irresistible. his ability to extract the ball is simon black-like, and his love of a goal makes him the sort of threatening midfielder that we've been crying out for for a long, long time. he's going to be a weapon for us if he can maintain fitness and we get some support for him and jones in the middle.
  3. i think ross the boss's reference to chasing the 'right free agents' is classic buyer's regret over getting col. and absolutely they should be targetting chip. their defensive stocks are a worry. their forward stocks are a worry. their midfield is silk.
  4. Sadly Gaz has three teenage boys and not one of them plays.
  5. All in all, it's safe to say he had a disappointing year.
  6. Chris Scott on Chip via abc radio - we want him at Geelong for "a number of reasons", primarily rate him as a player and for his flexibility.

  8. just a flat out ordinary recruit. flabbergasted that we picked him up as a free agent, and as nice a guy as i'm sure he is he added nothing to our side.
  9. this is my fear too. has shown far, far less than morton did in his first two years. it's a concern for sure,
  10. We need this guy to go back to what he was showing in his first couple of years - big marks, big kicks, hunting the ball and the man. Since the sling tackle he's been a shadow of what we expected. Like everyone, I'm hoping the foot was the major issue, and that we get the prime midfield mover we thought we had on our hands.
  11. Not prepared to say more sorry. But it's all a bit of a 'smack my head' feeling about how blind we've been.
  12. Yes, and no, he was not prepared to confirm (nor deny) what I had heard from a different source.
  13. Cats need mids not KPP based on tonight's showing.
  14. Heard from a very good source - my third to say it - that it categorically was not depression that forced him out. Also said that club is appalled by his / his manager's behaviour.
  15. if that's the way roos envisions his role playing out, and as such he'd become presumably part of the midfield rotation going forward every now and then rather than defensively, then i'm more inclined to pick him up. as deestroy all noted above, the only player he's an actual improvement upon as a defender is terlich. has anyone ever seen him play forward or at a bounce? what's his stoppage work like? we know he can spread offensively.
  16. robinson would be in our best 22. blease isn't.
  17. yes, he did. isn't he also about 31? no way that he'll be traded in by anyone.
  18. I don't think he'll improve our side per se - he's a plug n play player, clearly better than Terlich, and might allow Howe to return forward. Personally I like Howe in the backline. No doubt Gwilt would be best 21, and a player able to contribute for us immediately. But a backline with Gwilt, Grimes, McDonald, Garland in it does not fill me with confidence that it won't rebound and then ping straight back in again, such is their inability to hit targets.
  19. Malceski has been talked about going to GC17 if he doesn't stay at the Swans. Gwilt is a neither here nor there recruiting option for mine - same as HL, his recruitment won't solve our midfield woes and we already have a plethora of mid-sized defenders who can't kick.
  20. Had a better year as a key forward than Dawes did, which says something as at times his efforts left a lot to be desired. He's equally valuable to us as an experienced and talented player in our backline who as proved this year can swing forward, and in securing draft pick 3. At least, that's what we hope it will be if he goes - it's probably overs, but a pick at the end of round 1 (pick 20 or thereabouts) would seem to be unders. If he goes, we will miss him, but it might help contribute to our midfield rebuild, which as we all know is desperately needed.
  21. good luck to him at the blues. garlett or robinson the likely pick-up? don't want either, but they're both a step up on blease!
  22. so which lucky line coach gets to teach him how to kick a football this summer? his endeavor, tenacity and desire is joel selwood-like. his kicking is mark mcgough-esque. if we can get rid of the latter whilst continuing to refine the former, we could have a hell of a player on our hands.
  23. Doesn't every single thread around here, after the last eight seasons of misery?!?
  24. 4 year deal with option of a fifth please!
  25. Was recruited as a third tall support behind Clark and Hogan, and has instead become a sole true key forward. It's not a role he's cut out for at all. I still think his leadership is important, but he has to stop getting suspended for doing dumb things.
