  1. mitch brown, come on down
  2. love the projecting that is going on in this thread goodwin? unhappy! richardson? clueless! taylor? loves midgets! lamb? overrules everyone! i still maintain that drafting is an extremely inexact science; you're picking children who're 17 and hoping that by the time they're 24 they will be regular senior afl players it's very much pot luck imo
  3. just one...and then another one...and another...and another...and another...
  4. reckon he'll lead with 'it's a proud day...'?
  5. sounds like we were pretty set on bowey and laurie, and the decision behind carroll or rosman was line ball
  6. it's not a trick, @58er, it's an illusion; a trick is something whores do for money... they have both been on our list for three years and have obvious deficiencies that look likely to hold them back from being regular best 22 players they've clearly got heaps of talent - you have to in order to be on an afl list - but both have been in / out of the side on a regular basis due to the missing elements in their ability
  7. i don't overly rate smith or lockhart tbh @58er - both are classic 'good, ordinary' players, no different to the likes of o mac or godfrey or other battlers that we've had along the journey
  8. joel smith finished the year playing pretty well on the mid-to-tall forwards - his game against gw$ when he pantsed jeremy cameron being a case in point i think we were generally speaking going wih the geelong model of mid-tall defence - no 'small' per se
  9. wish these match day threads - at the least - would stay on the main page that was a really impressive win and the kids are REALLY exciting
  10. he's a bit of a nong https://www.sen.com.au/news/2021/02/05/why-kane-cornes-is-worried-about-melbourne-in-2021 Kane Cornes is concerned Melbourne will let themselves off the hook this season, after key recruit Ben Brown was sidelined by injury.
  11. the notion of spargo turning into our robbie gray type sounds very promising bit of a myth re distance of his kicking tho; i seem to remember he had no issues dobbing one from just inside the 50 arc in a final
  12. i think there's an obvious distinction between 'best 22 / next 22' and 'likely 22 for rd 1' hore and b brown are definitely out, and the likes of viney, brayshaw, hibberd, and vandenberg will be up against it for rd 1 given their lack of / interrupted pre-season preparation
  13. listened to the footyology podcast this week; neither rohan connolly nor mark fine thought we were a chance of finals, let alone premiership contenders mark fine is a saints nuffy tho, and his views are almost universally terrible - but he's right that we've been consistency mediocre for a long time
  14. i would have thought arthroscopy indicates they don't know what's wrong with his knee - explorative rather than determinative won't play til round 6 at the earliest i suspect
  15. so far definitely ruled out: hore - b brown likely ruled out: viney - brayshaw - hibberd - vandenberg - smith possible squad: B: Lockhart - May - Lever HB: Hunt - Tomlinson - Salem C : Langdon - Petracca - Melksham HF: Fritsch - McDonald - Spargo F: Jackson - Weideman - Pickett Foll: Gawn - Oliver - Harmes I/c: Rivers - Neal-Bullen - Sparrow - Baker Emerg: Jones - Rosman - M Brown - Jetta
  16. he said IF ben brown is injured for the next month or so, it will change where he's training as a wing or as a forward
  17. When things are glum there’s worse to come
  18. exactly my point @Cards13 - i would suspect that eddie's surprise retirement tour announcement was done in the wake of requirements from sponsors in the wake of the initial findings in the report being circulated at a high level
  19. an hour of slobbo four days a week? cancel my subscription!
  20. also no mention of the grand final rights, which are currently not pushed from being fta 'exclusive' for 7 to being simultaneously on foxtel / kayo i tried streaming the gf last year via 7 app - was in 480p and barely watchable
  21. timelines as follows: early dec: initial findings of the report given to the board, including a nike board member mid dec: eddie announces he'll leave at the end of 2021 late dec: full report given to the cfc board early jan: nike confirms new apparel deal with cfc late jan: full report leaks to the public early feb: yesterday's gloriously awful press conference now the query will be what comes next...
  22. his retirement has far more to do with the health of his father-in-law - gavin robertson - than it does some salacious rumour
