  1. clangerfilled is what we want petracca to be when he's in his mid 30s such a good footballer
  2. fritsch as a wingman stronger in the bod
  3. fair goal from ol man tex to start proceedings
  4. it's gil's round a party week in his home town paid for by taxpayers classique mclachlan move
  5. i immediately think of a recruit from another club who came with party boy history
  6. to be perfectly honest, anything over 50k is a 'win' for mfc - our standard attendance is 25k or thereabouts; our membership-to-attendee # remains quite strong the notion that we are a big or even a mid-sized club is a misnomer; we're clearly not - we're always around about par with the aints, and barely ahead of footscray and north, purely from a membership perspective at our most successful, post-premiership, we achieved around 70k members - at our lowest ebb, a bit over a decade ago, we were around half that i seem to recall now, admittedly, memberships for all clubs have 'grown' since the mid 00s, but memberships are a 'nice' thing for the club not something that actually effects the day to day of what is happening from an afl-wide or an organisational standpoint; from head office's pov the only thing that matters is that broadcast revenue (from the saudi pif via dazn now) and wagering revenue (from a myriad of gambling agencies) continues to rise
  7. it's why we tried for tom lynch two years in a row - we were prepared to take on his salary and dodgy knees in order to get a genuine #1 tall forward jvr is an ideal #2 and el jefe is... well, tbh, i don't really think he's good enough at vfl level let alone afl level at this point in time
  8. goodwin's record of three consecutive top 4 finishes at the end of the home and away season, including a premiership, is the most successful three year period we've had since the 1960s under norm smith daniher's record was up and down and northey was our last 'consistently competitive' coach from 87-91 inclusive, and both those sides were always good but not quite great at the end of every season - they always fell short year after year balme had one great year and lost every key pillar to injury, bailey was on a hiding to nothing, and neeld was an incredibly divisive and distruptive presence that required paul roos to come in and calm the farm goodwin deserves the rest of the year imo at the end of the season a calm and considered opinion by a new ceo and a board with a new president in charge is warranted he may survive; he may not
  9. unlikely to be a brother as this one is at geelong; xavier was gippsland power
  10. hopefully he's as good as bailey and about 10cm taller - the ideal key forward in 20 years!
  11. well, it's important for the equalisation of the competition, promotion of northern franchises, and protection of the broadcast rights' value
  12. nah, pear vs dingley comes at the conclusion of gil's round tailor-made for broadcast back to victoria
  13. his inability to really launch at the ball probably precludes him from playing forward anymore, as he himself has stated we have never been the same since he hurt his foot mid-2022
  14. not in #34? disgrace! i'mma write a stern letter
  15. was spargo smiling?
  16. no, the sa govt does
  17. which one's pink?
  18. the answers are already in this thread if we had an ai chatbot on this thread i think it would be an answer summary consistent of... ceo recruitment takes time and intensive interviews rumours have it that we have approached multiple existing afl ceos; they have rejected us rumours have it that we have approached the likes of stuart fox; he has rejected us rumours have it that we have approached the likes of football gms, such as jason mccartney at gw$ ergo, the board is actively recruiting for the role rumours have it that smith has been consulted in the search and was underwhelmed with the first rank of candidates david chippendall remains the acting ceo and is still a chance for the role brad green has been at pains to point out that he is NOT a temporary president - he is a longstanding board member and the current president greater research is required to determine whether or not having a president who has been in the role for less than a year and a longstanding coo who is acting ceo and also in the running for the role permanently is unusual
  19. the denver nuggets - who won their first championship in the nba less than two seasons ago - fired their coach and gm this morning using nba coaching logic Goodwin would’ve been sacked after 2023, Macrae after 2024, and Malthouse would be at his 7th club 😛 he and sheedy fighting it out for first coach to be at 10 clubs
  20. the media, whose opinion we hold so much stock in...
  21. footyfest! take that lees and west!! yes, it's really disheartening how much we have dropped off i used to go to norwood oval every second week in the mid 90s - great place to watch footy in other news, will day has re-injured his troublesome foot and will miss months rankine's calf is playing up and he might miss for the crom injuries suck
  22. collapse in depth or effort...or both? velvet sledgehammer hasn't had an opinion he isn't ready to backflip on based upon the last conversation he's had with someone
  23. it sounds like there's significant changes afoot according to the latest pre-press release background briefing article on pravda: https://www.afl.com.au/news/1292275/the-nga-zones-your-club-wants-access-to where we stand: As well as retaining its Alice Springs NGA zone, from which the club had its access to Ricky Mentha jnr as a rookie at last year's draft, the Demons are looking to have complete access to the Dandenong region. Currently Melbourne is sharing some of that area with St Kilda's Next Generation Academy. As the AFL also takes in feedback on the criteria elements of the NGA process, the Demons were strong on player eligibility getting back to the core function of the NGA, which is bringing prospects to the game who otherwise were not in football programs. The Dees supported needing proof of attracting the prospects to the game as part of a club's draft access down the track.
  24. paul marsh is leaving the aflpa and heading back to the oztrayan cricket player's union alastair nicholson is the early name being bandied about to take over from marsh; he currently heads up the aflca fwiw, i would hope that we would be keen on big al to come back to the mfc
  25. tipping: crom? filth? gc17 baggers bears them flagmantle gw$? dingley? at this stage of the season the best result for us is probably keeping the ladder 'bunched' with the exception of the teams directly above us - baggers, tigs, peptides, north - getting wins on the board
